The Chiefs’ $63 Million Man is Out 2-4 Weeks
1-liner, NFL August 31st. 2009, 1:40pmMatt Cassel: Even though the Chiefs aren’t talking, Yahoo’s Jason Cole is reporting that Kansas City’s new QB will miss 2-4 weeks with a “strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.” This means that Tyler Thigpen could be called upon to start the season opener in Baltimore against one of the league’s top defenses. Who will his offensive coordinator be? Who knows! The Chiefs just demoted/fired Chan Gailey. Thigpen played in seven road games last year; KC won one of those (Oakland). Brodie Croyle was thought to be pushing Cassel just two weeks ago; at some point, Thigpen must have passed him. [KC Star]

People have been so busy laughing at Josh McDaniels this offseason, are we sure that Todd Haley knows what he’s doing?
August 31st, 2009 at 1:44 pm
That sound you hear, is San Diego laughing loudly at the rest of the AFC Worst I mean West…
August 31st, 2009 at 1:45 pm
the afc west might be the worst division in NFL history. the broncos, chiefs and raiders all look like 2-14 teams right now.

Cassel still gets the money, right? Or does half of it go to Belichick?
August 31st, 2009 at 1:47 pm
I predicted thigpen would start on this very site about 2 weeks ago. never doubt me.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:48 pm
It’s too bad the Chargers only get 6 games against that troika. Otherwise they might go unbeaten.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Confidence just oozing out of the Chiefs organization.
If Gailey was fireable now, why was he even there to start training camp? Absolute morons.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:49 pm
yancey thigpen is also said to be in the running for the chiefs starting qb position.

San Diego can clinch in Week 4…
August 31st, 2009 at 1:55 pm
1/2 goes to bill, 1/2 goes to moss and welker, 1/2 goes to bernard pollard and the last half…

I read somewhere this weekend that SD was 1-5 against playoff teams in the reg season last year. How the hell do people keep calling them contenders?
August 31st, 2009 at 1:58 pm
Norv Turner will keep things interesting

@mrejr8234
Win.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:59 pm
probably the same way people call big ben a good QB.
August 31st, 2009 at 2:00 pm
But they were 1-1 in the playoffs and lost to the superbowl champions
August 31st, 2009 at 2:02 pm
How the hell do people keep calling them contenders?
I think it is just by default.
August 31st, 2009 at 2:04 pm
YYSA, since when is beating Peyton in the playoffs an accomplishment, its been done by just about everyone.

Bingo

Pig Pen > Bobby Thigpen > Yancey Thigpen > Tyler Thigpen

i don’t know, ESPN tells a lot of people what to think. Shawne Merriman’s sack dance is acceptable, TO has to grow up, and LT’s TD celebration is the way a pro shows he’s been there.

Shawne Merriman’s sack dance is acceptable
His sack dance is pretty badass though
August 31st, 2009 at 2:16 pm
So are his urine samples…

I see you’ve finished reading Roman’s book: “Pre-season success and failures, and how it accurately predicts the regular season”
August 31st, 2009 at 2:29 pm
it was good, but not nearly as good as his first book, “trials and tribulations: the story of the new york mets in the 21st century.”

Team loaded with proven 1st round draft picks that hasn’t missed the playoffs in 3 years and isn’t close to old except for they’re 30 year-old rb… Not crazy to call them contenders… They lost to the Pats in 2006 and 2007 and the sb champs in 2007… they are contenders doods

How the hell do people keep calling them contenders?
Jamal Williams?

How the hell do people keep calling them contenders?
By default. They’ll win that division by early November and will enter the postseason rested and ready.
