Andre Agassi Must Be Commended
1-liner, Former Athletes September 1st. 2009, 10:00amAndre Agassi: Here’s a fantastic, positive, uplifting story to start your morning. “The school he opened carries his famous name — the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy — and this week drew a visit from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Agassi will talk education policy with anyone who asks. His school, which teaches grades K-12, opened 10 years ago and had its first high school graduation two months ago. He said all 34 graduates were headed to college.” [NYT]

Is anybody but me old enough to remember that Andre Agassi started out his career as an underachieving douche with a disgusting Michael Bolton bald pony tail?
This guy’s maturation is very admirable.

Agassi has become class personified. The work he has done with his school is amazing. If only other athletes would retire and use their fame for as much good as he has done.
Very true.

Well said, dirtheavy. I was in college during the “Image is everything” part of Agassi’s career. He was an underacheiving asshat and successfully reinvented himself. Nice to see….
