Did Rick Pitino Just Lock Up a Package Deal?
1-liner, College Basketball, Recruiting September 2nd. 2009, 3:15pmRick Pitino’s Latest Hire: Quietly, Louisville made a recent hire to its coaching staff - Shabaka Lands. His title: “Special Assistant to the Basketball coach.” He has no college basketball coaching experience. He comes from famed Indianapolis Pike High School (Courtney Lee, Robert Vaden, Jeff Teague, Notre Dame’s Chris Thomas), where he was the assistant coach. It just so happens that, Pike currently has the No. 1-rated point guard in the Class of 2011, Marquis Teague. Last month, Teague visited Kentucky. This is a battle Pitino cannot lose. And package deals are a terrific way to ensure victory. [Zags Blog, Card Chronicle]

Instead of hiring this guy why don’t they just have pitino take Marquis teague out to a nice restaurant. Pitino does some of his best work there

This is hilarious. Does the NCAA even blink an eye when this shit happens or are they too worried about guys majoring in University studies practicing too hard?

Calipari and Pitino are well on their way of making a mockery of the NCAA.

Speaking of the Michigan nonsense Freddy Coleman was arguing on ESPN radio last night that the Michigan players who complained to the Free Press weren’t men, not because they complained to the paper, but because they didn’t go to RR first. WTF? It’s like he actually thought Rich Rodriguez was unaware of the rules and would be like “thanks fellas, boy I could have run afoul of the NCAA, you’re gonna get a lot of playing time for pointing that out.”

College football ticket post:
UK tickets against Miami (OH) average out to 80 bucks a seat
yet somehow I can go see Ole Miss for 5 dollars. So, a good team is five bucks and a shit game is 80.
Still want to see the game, but not for 160 dollars, minimum.

And whatever happened to the Reggie Bush investigation? Oh yea, having USC on probation is bad for business.

You forgot to add this guy got kicked off his college basketball team for getting arrested for shoplifting and then charge with possession of marijuana.

Also, in regard to Teague, he backed out of the Indiana elite camp at the last minute, after his dad said he would attend. Rumor is Pitino put some heat on him not to go, although that is unconfirmed.
The odd thing is Teague’s dad who played for Pitino seems to be the one holding back his son from committing.

Also, the big package deal is the 2 guys he has coming to town soon, Blackshear and Shaw. If he can get the pair from Chicago that will be a huge class, just a matter if Rick will try to slip out of town again or not.
