In a jail cell somewhere, Maurice Clarett weeps for his Buckeyes, now bridesmaids in the two college sports that matter most. Holy Mackerel Florida looked dominant in repeating as National Champs. The anxious eyes of Lee Humphrey revealed to us he was like a shark in the water last night … waiting … waiting … not forcing anything. And then the second Mike Conley leaves him to double someone … bottom. We cannot emphasize enough how much every team needs a Lee Humphrey. An assassin, but not a chucker; a marksman with no conscience.

Al Horford was beastly, and has the look of a young Karl Malone; Joakim Noah was ineffective, and might just end up being a good college basketball player who becomes a role player in the NBA, like Mark Madsen or something. We don’t even see him putting up Christian Laettner-type numbers in the pros. We said it before the game, and it bears repeating – Corey Brewer is officially Our Guy, an we will root for him wherever he lands. We’ll say it again – after Oden, Durant and Brandan Wright, Brewer’s our guy. Yes, over Al Horford.

Greg Oden, so pallid yet so terrifying, was tremendous with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks. He must go to the NBA. Apparently, he did his best Drew Rosendouche in the locker room last night, simply saying ‘next question’ when asked about the NBA. Just leave, Greg. You will not get any better stomping on the Big 10. Just go posterize a past-his prime Ben Wallace or softy Brendan Haywood. Are 12 and 10 as a rookie out of the realm? He just torched the best frontcourt in college basketball, but was foul-prone and ineffective against the shrimps Xavier and Tennessee threw at him. Go play in the NBA, Greg. Mike Conley, supposedly, is staying in school.

Billy Packer gets the treatment as much as anyone, but we thought he called an outstanding Final Four. Now onto the offseason, where 45 percent of the questions will revolve around Billy Donovan going to Kentucky (Andy Katz just revealed Donovan’s schedule for the week, and how there’s no time for Kentucky; we don’t think he’s going, either), 40 percent of the questions will pertain to Oden and the NBA; 10 percent to Kevin Durant’s NBA status, 4 percent to Gus Johnson and 1 percent to the chances of a three-peat.
