Are the Knicks Going to Give LeBron His Own Channel?
1-liner, NBA, Television September 11th. 2009, 1:45pmLeBron James and New York: “Speaking of which, the latest LeBron to the Knicks rumor I’ve heard is that Cablevision – which owns the Knicks but not the Daily News – will circumvent the salary cap by giving LeBron his own channel. I don’t know exactly how that will work but that’s what I’ve heard. As of today, I say there is a 90 percent chance LeBron is coming to New York.” That’s not in line with what the folks at ESPN think. [NY Daily News]

His mom said he was staying. dont know if she was sober at the time
September 11th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Great, he totally deserves this channel.
I’m a huge Knicks fan, but even I think this is too much. That is, of course, until he come to NY and we’re competitive again.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
do you have any idea how illegal that would be?
oh wait…david stern obviously doesn’t give a shit.
whatever. enjoy him.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
Keep it up… It will make the disappointment even greater when he doesn’t come play in NYC…
September 11th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
As much as David Stern wants Lebron in NYC, there’s no way in hell he allows Cablevision to circumvent the salary cap like that. To paraphrase Junior, he’d have every other owner so far up his ass he’d taste brylcream
September 11th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
Spence, he’s probably not coming here, but ESPN and the like need to create speculation and drama 24/7. NY will probably end up with Amare and that’s it (I really don’t think Bosh will come here)
September 11th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
DON’T CARE.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
That’s not in line with what the folks at ESPN think
ESPN “experts” picked Cleveland to represent the East recently
September 11th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
contract the Cavs!!!!!
/sorry spence
September 11th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
Can’t I dream, damn it? I’ve had to deal with absolute shit since 2002.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
if lebron leaves…contract the fuck out of the cavs. it’d just save the league time anyways.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
his channel would just be a test pattern. he won’t let any kind of shit on there that he doesn’t like
September 11th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Or have them move to Baltimore.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
Or have them move to Baltimore.
Or Kansas City.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
His channel would just be him playing one-on-five, editing his teammates out.
Granted there would be little actual editing.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Im writing a pilot right now.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Delonte West Will be involved.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
eat a dick, asshole. go fuck yourself.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
i cant wait to watch continuous reruns of him making a pregame halfcourt or full court shot so i can forget about how he cant hit a free throw when his team needs it.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
This thread needs more NickP
September 11th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Or Minnesota. It would be great to have an NBA franchise here.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
This conversation is getting old.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I cannot wait for the season to start. so pumped for this upcoming season. 2 1/2 weeks till training camp
September 11th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
Big Ben > LeBron
September 11th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
This conversation is getting old
get used to it. Lebron wont make up his mind until next summer
September 11th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
2 1/2 weeks till training camp
Basketball has training camp? What do they do? Run 3 plays and then shoot layups for an hour?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Or have them move to Baltimore.

Or New Orleans, considering the Hornets died.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
rings!!! and football kinda forces big ben to utilize his teammates
September 11th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Or Seattle?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Kobe’s channel would trump LeBron’s
/Black Mamba
September 11th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
they go one on one with chairs and 5′2″ assistant coaches
September 11th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
probably because he’d force people to watch it against their will and then pay them a bunch of money afterwards to keep it quiet.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Basketball has training camp? What do they do? Run 3 plays and then shoot layups for an hour
no wonder you dont comment in Ballin’
September 11th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Like Shaq?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
still not sure why lebron would put himself in an even worse position to win a championship when the knicks have proven to be even more inept than the cavs at creating a winning team.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
proof positive that the NBA season is way too long.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
i know the cavs had a disappointing finish to their seasons…
BUT THEY WON 66 GAMES!!! how is that inept?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
no wonder you dont comment in Ballin’
I do, but only if I watched 3 minutes of previews the night before. I did actually watch some of the playoffs this year, but regular season games bore the hell out of me.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Clippers would be ideal. Big market, lots of talent, and an inept coach he can undermine.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Some people around here will rue the day I figure out how to commit homicide via a comment section. THAT JOKE IS NOT FUNNY.
/bastards… the lot of you…

It’s not like the season was a failure. They won 66 games heading into the playoffs. I’d kill for the Knicks to reach 40 wins, let alone 60+.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
No one can get within 30% of what the Cavs can offer, salary-wise.
His endorsement deals aren’t exactly shabby right now, either.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
poor syntax on my part. the cavs are a legit contender every year. why leave that? once you get a max deal the money is all the same, it’s just endorsement money after that.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
I knew that Baltimore jab would ruffle spence.
You can find consolation in that I will probably never smell a non-baseball championship contender in my lifetime.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
wally but he wont have to live in ohio.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Imagine these huge billboards in NYC. It’s the ultimate wet dream for someone with as much of a God complex as Lebron has.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
If Cablevision gives LeBron a channel on basic cable, yet I had to pay an extra $5 a month for National Geographic and an extra $10 a month for that to be in HD, I’m switching to DirecTV when I move back to NY.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Some people around here will rue the day I figure out how to commit homicide via a comment section. THAT JOKE IS NOT FUNNY.
Waly: I tried this on mrejr once, but I guess it didn’t work
September 11th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Those Billboards would be alot cleaner too.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
“you threw in christian laettner from duke/ you have to live with that one”
best Jordan quote ever.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

just busting your chops Pki. you need to rep Big Al and Kevin Love this year
September 11th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
very nice Bo
September 11th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
I never noticed the LeBron jersey there on the skyline. Just give the guy the f’n key and make him mayor.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Salary is just a small slice of the income pie. If he wants to get to MJ endorsement status, he needs to go to a large market.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
ugh.
i need to stay away from this topic. it just pisses me off something fierce.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
For all the success that Cleveland has had, I don’t see why the Knicks couldn’t replicate that with Lebron. It’s not like anyone else on the Cavs is irreplaceable.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Lebron stays in Cleveland, Oden joins him when he can leave the Blaze
September 11th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Yea, and the Knicks are going after Wally. So it’ll just be like old times…
/shoots self
September 11th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
Is this supposed to be good?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
Why? Global marketing is where he’s really going to make a dent. He isn’t moving to Europe or China. It doesn’t matter where he lives or plays from that perspective. Nike could care less whether he is in NYC or Cleveland as long as he continues to get attention.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
yeah, remember when Jordan signed with the Knicks and the endorsement deals poured in?
LeBron will be fine with endorsements in Cleveland. As long as he stays relevant (he should send a nice big check to ESPN for helping with that) he’ll get the same endorsement deals.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
but the cavs are owned by chinamen! it doesnt matter that most people in the chinese population lives in poverty!
September 11th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
It would make more sense for him to be in a big market because of all the tourists coming in and out of NYC/LA that will here his name and see his images. Nobody comes to the U.S. to visit Cleveland.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
chicago is a fucking huge market way bigger than cleveland
September 11th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Is Cleveland comparable to Chicago?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
go there for the two buildings stay there for the food prepared by the road.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
are you saying that Chicago isn’t a large market? I can’t help you then, podna.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
but we have the rock and roll hall of fame!!!
/which sucks
//major ass
///huge amounts of ass
////seriously…the only good thing there is duane allman’s ‘58 les paul with ‘duane’ carved in the back
September 11th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Damn all this hear hear/here here bullshit
September 11th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
no, what i’m saying is you don’t have to be in a large market to make money on endorsement deals.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
you don’t have to be, but it helps.
clevelanders know we can’t match what NY/LA/Chicago/Dallas would offer from a money standpoint.
all we’re banking on is that we have a head start with building a team around him and that he’ll wanna stay because of the increased salary.
honestly, if i didn’t see that sunday convo with him where his body language all but screamed, “I’M OUTTA HERE,” i’d say it’s 50/50.
but he’s gone. it’s sad.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:36 pm
Damnit Bo, I about pulled that up in front of the boss. Scrambled to hit X.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
you’re confusing money with superdupermega money. As long as he’s in a small market he’ll be stuck with underwhelming shoe sales and selling lawnmowers
September 11th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
If only someone would take Eddy Curry or Jeffries off the Knicks hands. I hate this garbage that we’re “dangling” Cuttino Mobleys insurance if someone would take the contracts. No one will do this.
/and we don’t have a draft pick this year thanks to Isiah, which would’ve easily been top 5
//and we would’ve used it on a skinny european with no inside game
September 11th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
clown…you know, you could be less of a flat out dick about this.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
sounds like Al Bundy to me.
i get your point. if he jumps to the knicks i hope he never wins a championship and uses his superdupermega money to buy NBA championship rings on Ebay.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Look on the bright side, Spence, you still have the Browns and Indians.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Don’t forget about Ricky Rubio!
/the Wolves almost had me on the bandwagon
September 11th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
thanks for reminding me.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Spencer Look underneath the drivers seat in your car. There is a loaded gun. Put the gun to your head and pull the trigger. This will fix all of your problems.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
thanks for reminding me.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
You’re better than that, Tampa Bo.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Spence is Serena Williams?
September 11th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Pulled Im just trying to help a friend out. The only thing this guy has going for him is the Buckeyes and they almost lost to Navy last weekend(they play USC this weekend).
September 11th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Hey, I’m a big fan of yours, Tampa. 90% of the stuff you come up with makes me laugh my ass off.
September 11th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Somebody’s got to set picks for him.
