As if referees in the NFL didn’t already have enough of a daunting uphill battle between head coaches in their ear tearing them a new one, and hostile fans constantly reminding them of how much they suck, they now get to look stupid too.

I’m all for the throwback look, the Patriots in particular look awesome, but let’s get the refs back in those the traditional shirts that made Ed Hochuli the legendary ass sorcerer he is today.

Dominance to me is winning at ridiculous clip like Tiger’s slam. But Fed dominated tennis for a five year period. No one had won Wimbledon or the U.S. Open for 5-6 years.
I know you’re a golf guy and we’ll never agree on it, but I’ll take Fed.

yea, but we’ve seen that before from other tennis greats…guys have dominated wimbledon and the french open with annual regularity.
golf has more people to beat so you’ll never see that. but NO OTHER GOLFER IN HISTORY has won more majors in the span tiger has. it hasn’t happened. there is no precedent…even with bobby jones playing against walter hagen and a bunch of stiffs or harry vardon where there were like 5 pro golfers in the world.
tiger has stiffer competition and beats more of said competition. that’s dominance.

Fed is a more dominant player than Tiger, if only for his string of 21 consecutive semi-final appearances in grand slam tournaments. I mean, Lendl recently said if someone had come to him 5 years ago and told him his record would be more than doubled, he would end the conversation as fast as possible because it was clear he was talking to an insane person. I mean, Federer probably has the best all around game of all time. He’s a top 5 clay court player all time, and that’s his WORST surface.
And oh yeah, Federer dominated a sport where there’s constantly new challengers coming into the sport. Every year, a new athletic specimen comes into his prime, ready to challenge Fed. You don’t see that often in golf, and golf certainly isn’t as physically demanding a sport as tennis.

SC I too have a fear of flying. The worse for me is the take-off; I just make sure I strike up conversation with seat mate to distract myself or I make sure I have a book/mag. Distraction is all that works for me. Once we level off, I usually feel ok. I LOVE landings because then it’s over.

Refs called Watson’s catch in the NE game a TD, yet this one is ruled incomplete? Same type of play, different ruling.

the same type of play happened in the Pats game on Watson’s 2nd TD and it was (correctly) ruled a TD. way to be consistent, refs.

You have to maintain possession of the ball throughout the play. The nose of the ball obviously hit first and the ball “adjusted” on impact with the ground…no catch. I hope somebody explains that to Mike & Mike before their next show.

That would be true if the guy didn’t put 2 feet on the ground first. 2 feet is a catch, period. No way is that not a catch. The rule is very simple. 2 feet down, no ball movement, catch.

Watson’s TD was different…his arm hit first and he maintained control. On the Raiders play, the tip of the ball hit the ground first and the ball moved…therefore, he didn’t maintain control…refs had it right in both situations.

but the but he still had possesion when the ball hit the ground. just because the ball moved when it the ground deosnt mean he didnt have posession or that the ball hitting the ground helped him gain posession. that was a catch

You have to remember that a receiver now has to retain possession after hitting the ground…the previous rule was two feet down in the end zone meant a TD. Now you have to retain possession after hitting the ground…dude didn’t.

The Bert Emmanuel Rule: the ball can touch the ground during a completed pass as long as the receiver maintains control of the ball
the ball slightly moved as the receiver fell to the ground. at no time did he lose posession of the ball. definitely a catch
