Ballin’: Warriors Win and They’re In, Clippers Need Some Help

Atlanta 118, Indiana 102: You’ve got to wonder what the hell Atlanta is thinking. The Hawks finished with the fourth worst record in the NBA, and thus enhanced their chances of losing their first round pick (only top three protected). Somewhere in the bowels of Philips Arena, Billy Knight is fitting a noose for himself.
Golden State 111, Dallas 82: Simmer down, this wasn’t a preview of their first-round playoff series because the Mavericks elected to have Dirk, Josh Howard, and Stackhouse sit this one out. Maurice Ager (20 points) and Jose Juan Barea started in the backcourt for Dallas. The Warriors still need to win their final game at Portland to lock up a playoff berth.
Clippers 103, Suns 99: Impressive victory for the Elton Brands, who needed a victory to keep their scant playoff hopes alive. Here’s how Los Angeles gets in – the Clippers need to defeat the Hornets at home tonight and the Warriors must lost at Portland. Don’t see it happening.
Orlando 95, Washington 89: If we were betting on the NBA playoffs – and we’re not – we’d go heavy on the Wizards to get swept, even if Caron Butler comes back for the first round. Antwan Jamison had 48 points, but Antonio Daniels and DeShawn Stevenson combined to shoot 2-for-24.
NBA Draft Update: Here’s the complete list of underclassmen who have entered the NBA draft. A couple extremely puzzling ones, as there are every year. DePaul’s Wilson Chandler? Nice player, but if you’re a marginal NBA player, why would you enter this draft? Washington’s Spencer Hawes is the least-talked about player who we think will be a lottery pick. And no, he’s not the next Big Country Reeves. Is Cal’s DeVon Hardin the same guy who needed to be tutored by Brandon Walash in 90210? Sure sounds similar.
