Hey Robert Henson – Mike Greenberg Isn’t a Fan
ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings, NFL, Twitter September 23rd. 2009, 4:45pmThe usually reserved and vanilla Mike Greenberg, who isn’t nearly the Jets fan we are, got wound up yesterday – for three minutes! – when talking about Washington Redskins rookie linebacker Robert Henson, the guy who ripped fans on twitter. Question that hasn’t been addressed: Can people working 9-5 at McDonald’s afford to go to Redskin games? Tickets, parking, food, beer … we paid for one sporting event this year and it crippled our budget for months. [DC Sports Bog]

How do you know this, and how do you measure it? Does Greenberg bang the Cowboys and Chargers behind the Jets back, too?
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I saw this when it aired, and it’s the first time I’ve ever agreed with Greenberg. It was kind of awesome to see him really go off. Golic loved it too.

Yawnberg should take his own advice. Shut up forever Mike
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Fantastic. Guy should step up like Cuban after his DQ comments.
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:50 pm
fucking a . i like that. very nice
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:51 pm
roger henson was a stud at tcu

Working the McDonalds’ register is a step up from backup MNF announcer.
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:52 pm
spit a little water out laughing at that.

he did kinda pick an easy target for his wrath but shit at least he showed some emotion instead sounding like is constantly trying to sell me something. greenberg is like a pop up ad that wont go away.
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Finally showing some emotion. I don’t like his show, but Henson needed to be called out. All NFL players work hard (some more than others) to get to where they got to, but not all of us are blessed with talent and size.
/enter David Eckstein comment.

him actually being angry and not a complete toolbag was strange to watch
September 23rd, 2009 at 4:59 pm
the whole thing is a non story, so his impotent rage is lost on me.
another reason why i proudly don’t listen to that radio show. the link above the exception.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:00 pm
he has more heart and work ethic than you ever will
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:01 pm
My alternative is Mully and Hanley here in Chicago. I have these guys on in the background for an hour when I wake up at 8. They at least have decent guests due to their prominence in the ESPN hierarchy.
He’s a season ticket holder, is he not?
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Duder, would you say hes scrappier than me?
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Well here is hoping Mark Sanchez does something this stupid.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:03 pm
I never listen to their show.
Thank God for XM.

GREENBERG:BITCHASSNESS::ECKSTEIN:SCRAPPINESS
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:04 pm
YYSA – Sanchez has people who work for him to make sure this never happens. I’m starting to doubt that he even writes his own tweets. Calipari does the same thing.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:04 pm
what an insulting question
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:06 pm
“You’re gonna run into jerk offs. But remember, it’s not the size of the asshole you worry about, it’s how much shit comes out of it.”
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:15 pm
I believe I was promised a Nets post on this fine September day.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:15 pm
i like when Mad Dog goes off better..
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Good for Greenberg, though I think Henson’s comments were overblown (and he’s entirely to blame). I took the McDonald’s reference as less about working stiffs and more about guys who don’t play the game, but act like they know what the team should be doing. Had he just said something about guys sitting in front of a computer in their mom’s basement, he could have avoided all of this.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:20 pm
I’m no fan of Greenberg, but love that black/gray shirt combo he’s wearing in the clip
/Fashion police in training
/Clearly it’s time to leave work and have a drink
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:21 pm
God his soundbites are brutal to listen to. Leave the sound drops to the pros (Steve Czaban/Opie and Anthony/Fred and Hoo Hoo)
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:21 pm
THAT’S who i was thinking of! yeah it was kinda like mad dog but with only about 1% of the anger
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:23 pm
How can it be a 3 min rant when he is only on air for 1 minute before going to another commercial? That show is the worst.
Format=Teaser then commercial then recap the same thing they just talked about (or replay an earlier interview), talk about something, teaser, and it starts all over again.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:23 pm
And by the way, I would love to see Greenberg actually rip someone who’s relevant. Oh that’s right..he won’t.. too much forced adulation “he’s the best..no he’s the best.”
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:24 pm
I can’t stand Mad Dog. His promos on XM/Sirius are enough for me to turn the radio off. No wonder his channel is the second least listened to channel.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:24 pm
And Greenberg said “that’s the most insulting thing i’ve seen in my life,” really Greeny. Apparently you didn’t watch a replay of last week’s MNF, b/c I’m guessing your hierarchy of insulting things would change drastically.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:26 pm
And I’m sorry, “there’s nothing wrong with working at mcdonalds.”
Umm, yeah in high school, or fine if you’re the manager. But if you’re expediting at age 32, then you’ve got some issues.

Not everyone can grab the world by the balls. World needs ditch diggers, too.
/What my TV production teacher told me when I fucked up.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:32 pm
I saw this on TV too. I’d rather have vanilla early in the morning than overly enthusiastic sportscenter anchors.
Look at the vein on his neck!

His play by play reminded me of when Bob Uecker passed out in major league 2 and his backup had to call the game.
“Balls out……………..Caught”
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:40 pm
when i first saw the post i thought he went off on the muppets guy. that would have been more exciting
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:50 pm
His “outrage” was faker than a stripper’s boobs.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:55 pm
I’ve never understood this “You’re not a real fan/as much of a fan of [insert team name here] as I am” shit. How the fuck do you know? Is there a quantifiable equation out there that determines the level of fandom, for lack of a better word, in a person? If so, I’d like to see it.
September 23rd, 2009 at 6:38 pm
i would gladly go toe-to-toe with Greenberg with Jets trivia questions. rosters, players #s, coaches, records, results … jeopardy style, i think i win.
September 23rd, 2009 at 8:02 pm
TBL, Greenberg has been going to Jets game his entire life. His dad was a season ticket holder. He is a season ticket holder. He is older than you. My money would be on him.
September 23rd, 2009 at 8:24 pm
No one would win that game.
