Kansas basketball player Tyshawn Taylor got into a fight with an unnamed (for now – scuttlebutt later) Kansas football player Tuesday and went to the hospital. It seems as if tensions had been escalating prior to the skirmish, according to Taylor’s facebook account, as reported by the KC Star. Bill Self is going to be thrilled:

“keep my name out ya’ mouth for you get smacked in it,” [Taylor] wrote at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, and 30 minutes later he posted, “never get outta character .. I’m always a G about it.”

About 4 p.m., Taylor posted, “(racial slur)s be muggin me ..you know I’m mugging back.”


The fight reportedly went down at 6:30 pm Tuesday. After his trip to the hospital, Taylor went back to Facebook:

“I got a dislocated finger ..from throwing a punch ..so don’t let the news paper gas yall up aite,” Taylor wrote.
Minutes earlier, around midnight, he wrote: “real (racial slur)s do real things .. point plankn.”

According to a reader in Kansas, an email circulating among KU fans claims that one of the Jayhawks football players involved is allegedly wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe (who happens to be an NFL prospect). Nothing has been verified yet, but as expected, a female is rumored to be at the crux of the beef.

[UPDATE]: Columnist Tom Keegan at KU Sports.com confirms the fight was over a female. “…reportedly involved a dispute over a woman who used to date an athlete from one team and now dates one from another. ”

[UPDATE II: Things escalated this morning between the two teams. As we wrote earlier, Dezmon Briscoe was involved. So was Sherron Collins of the basketball team.]
