Miguel Cabrera: The 911 Call is Depressing. Will it Force the Tigers to Take Action?
Baseball, Bullying, Courts, Legal, Heavy Drinking October 5th. 2009, 2:00pm
Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers was so drunk when he returned home from a night of carousing at 6 am Saturday – while his team was in the process of choking away the AL Central – that his wife was forced to call 911. The audio is very depressing. Listen to it all – you can hear Miguel Cabrera getting belligerent with the cops in the background.
911 Operator: Has he hit you?
Cabrera’s wife: Yeah.

I’m going to go ahead and call it. Cabrera goes 0-4 and grounds into a double play on Tuesday and gets booed mercilessly by Twins fans.

MOTHER FUCKING FUCK

i think it’s 50/50 that cabrera even plays tuesday

I guarantee you he plays tomorrow. I wouldn’t blame Leyland for putting him in there in the slightest.

While I would never ever condone domestic abuse, this story is like a real life parable of the Tigers team right now.

He’s got to play TBL. How do the Tigers support not playing one of their best hitters (even if he has underperformed recently) in the most crucial game of the year? Unless he is arrested and behind bars during gametime, I don’t see how Leyland keeps him out of the starting lineup.

Cabrera will play tomorrow. Without him, they’ve got no shot.
He’s gonna hear it tomorrow. Big time.

I gotta get off the Internets. I’m letting everything Tigers related eat at me.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Shit I’d play him.
THen again, I’d play a double play combo of Roman Polanski and someone from Al Qaeda if it got me a division title, so I’m probably not the person to take advice from on this issue

With Brett Myers as your starting pitcher and Chuck Knoblauch at second?
/making sure the wife beaters get counted.
//probably not Knoblauch, he sucked ass.

Classic.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Heh. That’d be great to see Knoblauch and Caberra at Metrodome tomorrow
October 5th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
if he goes to jail, are the Tigers off the hook for the $18MM they owe him next year?
October 5th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Again, how is this a choke? Why isn’t anyone giving Minnesota credit? And instead just saying Detroit is the eff up here.
Since Sept. 1…
Tigers: 17-15
Twins: 20-10

Miguel must be my brother. I dont hit but I will threaten to kill you. Fucking Alcohol. Why cant weed be legal?
October 5th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Come on Magglio. Step up and beat a woman. Do it for the team!
October 5th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Mostly because they lost 2 out of 3 games against the White Sox. When they still had a 2 game lead.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
I wouldn’t blame Leyland for playing his strongest 10. And yet, I am sick of assholes like Cabrera continuously getting rewarded because they have some degree of athletic talent. I seriously hope his balls fall off.

Welcome to America. Where justice is blind unless you can hit a 95 mph fastball over 400 ft. on a consistent basis.

I think they will suspend him. I don’t know how they could get away with not doing so.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Its awesome when your favorite player takes a shit on your favorite team.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
Just the actions itself are bad enough, let alone having them happen at a CRUCIAL time for your team.

I know a Vikes fan who says he’d cheer for the Taliban if they ever play against the Packers.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Isn’t wife beating pretty common in Detroit these days anyway?
/don’t bother, I’m already sorry
October 5th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Once again, this would never happen with Albert Pujols. He didn’t even want to serve alcohal in the bar he owns (I know, I know).
October 5th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Why do you keep on trying to rub salt in the wounds, Taguchi?
October 5th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I’d tend to agree with you, but if they let him play on Saturday, don’t they have to let him play on Tuesday? Dombrowski, having picked him up at the police station, certainly had a good grasp of what went on.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I think your confusing Magglio with Miguel here, but either way The Rockies got out of part of the Neagle contract after he got caught with a hooker, so I suppose its possible depending on the moral language in the contract. The Tigers wouldn’t want to get out of his contract anyway though.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
I can’t imagine this happens during the playoffs. This is MLB not the NFL. Maybe they suspend him at the beginning of next season but they put it off until then.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Maybe the Red Sox suspend him at the beginning of next season after they trade for him in the off-season.
October 5th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I’ve never been this upset as a White Sox fan for them playing like a real baseball team for the first time in two months this past weekend…I freaking hate the Twins and just wanted the boys to roll over and die allowing the Tigers to clinch and have Verlander ready to go in Game One at Yankee Stadium
