Erin Andrews: This Old Man Was Stalking Her, Blame the Bloggers Anyway!
1-liner, Courts, Legal, Erin Andrews, Media Gossip/Musings October 7th. 2009, 4:30pm
Erin Andrews: “If the allegations against Michael David Barrett are true, he is a very sick man. But his arrest won’t do anything to change the behavior of those who continue to find entertainment in reducing Andrews to a sex object. The blog and newspaper headlines that describe her as a ”hottie” or ‘’sexy” … Collectively, these testosterone-fueled behaviors might not create a stalker, but they help create an environment in which he feels safe to operate.” Pffft. Weak. We’ve been slow in following up on the arrest of allegedly creepy perv Michael David Barrett (at right) in the Andrews case. Postseason baseball, the NFL and college football have captured our attention. This summer, when the story broke, there was nothing going on. We’ll get around to it eventually. In the meantime, here’s a damn good take on the developments from the weekend. [Sun-Times]

does someone have a link to the blog that told this guy to go out and tape EA?
Anyone?
what? it doesn’t exist?
so you’re saying he was a perv on his own, not turned into one for reading blogs and watching ESPN’s College Gameday, and quite possibly a perv even before blogs and EA came into the public spotlight?

Collectively, these testosterone-fueled behaviors might not create a stalker, but they help create an environment in which he feels safe to operate.”
That is either a really lame or a really lazy thought process.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
yeah. thats like saying an elementary school down the street is responsible for pedophiles.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
I blame Musberger.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
We’ll get around to it eventually
after NBA week right? right?
I still haven’t seen the video
October 7th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Don’t want to argue this again, but here was my original take if anyone is interested.

October 7th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
who the hell is that
October 7th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
I’m just sad that the whole thing has turned her into a nun, I dont think I’ve so much as seen a sliver of skin the entire football season.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I don’t think anyone can debate this anymore. We all went blue in the face over this a few months ago.
Throw in something about the GOP and New York Media if you want to get a certain someone to talk about an issue non stop for an hour.

Bricoe > Bryant.
Shit. I just read that he had improper whatever with a pro player. Morris at KU just got exposed that he is driving Scot Pollard’s vehicle.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
I hope that’s not a euphemism.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
and the bojacks from pa, oh, ny, nj, texas (except me) and the rest of the south
October 7th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
I don’t find her to be a “hottie” or “sexy,” so I scoff at that statement and would like a retraction.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
imagine what kind of attention she would get if she left the yard
October 7th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Has anyone ever decided what Paolo likes?
October 7th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
KC- the good one or the bad one?
October 7th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Blogs and newspapers didn’t put her on the sidelines in attractive outfits to report.
She is the equivelent of a sophisticated-looking cheerleader on the sidelines, and she knows exactly why she is there…
October 7th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
he loves porn and notre dame. in that order.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
Castrati
October 7th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
i think it would be a very scary place, and i’m afraid to know.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
He likes TBL, jpq, and Notre Dame, pretty much in that order. Oh, and spicy women.
Dammit I can’t remember what that means.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
and spiceyness
October 7th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
That’s your winner right there.
October 7th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
The only woman hired to do sports who wasn’t hired in part by her looks is this woman.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
Haha, Jim Rome just said something i agree with for the first time ever. Talked about the analysts saying “The National Football League,” everytime instead of just the NFL. so fucking annoying.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
Dude. Uncalled for.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
Paolo likes TBL, but not TBL himself.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I’m on his email distribution list, but that still doesn’t explain anything.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Sorry, that need a NSFW tag.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
I think that means you’re a captain in TBL’s capo regime Mission.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
she’s really good looking, viewers noticed, commented on it, her bosses gave her a bigger profile, more viewers notice, more comment, etc. not saying that she deserves to be stalked, tape or anything else criminal, but she owes her career to being attractive.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
There. Can we just have this around every EA photo?
October 7th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
So we’re all supposed to feel guilty about Erin Andrews being attractive because of some perv nut job? That seems reasonable.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
By that reasoning, every stalker, pervert and creep who’s after Megan Fox should blame Michael Bay for putting her in Transformers in the first place.
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Pam Ward would like a word with you.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
I know Waldmun opened up WFAN, but how the hell did Pam Ward break in to the business?
October 7th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Anyone who watched the video is only removed in guilt by one level from the pervert who actually taped her.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
You know the way to solve this: eliminate sideline reporters. ALL of them suck and NONE of them have ever provided us with 1 bit of relevant or important news.
October 7th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
What about those of us who eye-bang her every time she appears on screen?
October 7th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
The blog and newspaper headlines that describe her as a ”hottie” or ‘’sexy” … Collectively, these testosterone-fueled behaviors might not create a stalker, but they help create an environment in which her objectification reduces the insulation a “regular” woman would feel“
THAT is what blogs did. They didn’t make the guy do it, but blogs “created” the infatuation with her. Otherwise, her rocognition level would be much lower.
October 7th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Isn’t that like saying John Madden and Peter King “created” the infatuation with Brett Favre?
/you might be on to something
October 7th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Isn’t that like saying John Madden and Peter King “created” the infatuation with Brett Favre?
/you might be on to something
that’s exactly right. Those two guys started it, others began to follow, then the jokes on Madden & King started, and then the Favre backlash happened from oversaturation.
I just find it unbelievably naive for bloggers to completely objectify this woman for three years, then think they had ZERO influence in the occurrence. It didn’t happen because of them, but her “hottie recognition factor” went up exponentially once she became a blog favorite. Being bloggers, they can’t step back and look objectively at the subject, though. They’re too close to it.
