Dez Bryant on Facebook: ‘I went to Deion Sanders’ house, and I lied to the NCAA about it’ [UPDATE]
College Football October 7th. 2009, 5:45pm
Dez Bryant, the fantastic Oklahoma State wide receiver who is a certain NFL 1st round pick when he enters the draft, has been ruled ineligible by the idiots that run the NCAA. While the OSU press released didn’t detail how Bryant was connected with a former NFL player, the star receiver told the world on his Facebook hours ago, according to a reader who is “friends” with him:
“This is why I’m suspended…..I went to Deion sanders house ….and the NCAA found out…..they ask me if I been to his house I told them no…I thought it was a violation…but it wasn’t… so I told them I went to his house… I lied to …them and I shouldn’t have….and I’m not suspended for the rest of the season….I’m sorry osu!!”
The NCAA had better right this wrong before Oct. 31st. That’s when the Cowboys host Texas in what might be the Longhorns’ biggest hurdle in its quest to reach the BCS title game.
If you were in doubt about the Facebook posting, our tipster has taken a screen grab:

if he is suspended for the rest of the season he should be able to go to the nfl via free agency.

Dez Bryant will be a bust.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
the ncaa is the absolute worst. how is going to deion’s house a violation? were agents there? is deion an agent?
October 7th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
He’s not suspended the whole year. Why is this even a big deal, exactly? Not the suspension part, but I mean why is it a big dea that he went to Sander’s house?
October 7th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
and you base this on … what, exactly? his insane leaping ability? his hands? his size?
he reminds me of brandon marshall (minus the baggage)
October 7th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
was MC hammer there?
October 7th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
He wasn’t suspended to going to Deion’s house. He was suspended for lying.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Is he suspended because he lied? Because that’s what his statement says right? Not because he went to Deon’s place.

history of Big 12 receivers in the NFL
October 7th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
this is like lying that you didnt take a dump when you actually did
October 7th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
I’m worried about this Duensing kid for Minny. He’s unknown for the Yanks and they always have problems with new guys.
The thing the Yanks have going for them is that he’s not an Oriole. Oriole rookies or young Orioles always rape the Yankees.
October 7th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
yes, that previous post is stupid but thats how i view the NCAA rules.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
The fact that Big 12 receivers usually are (thanks, Duder) and he hasn’t had to play against tough defenses. He has talent, but his opponenets in college coupled with the fact that he lacks good speed for 6′1″ (or whatever he is)…. BUST.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
there is no chance he got suspended for simply going to deion sanders house. why would he lie about it if thats all that happened? definitely a sex party with lots of coke.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
I’m lost. He took a dump in deions gold toilet at his house?
October 7th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
GSG: Duensing sucks. It’s over.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
Nah. he took a dump in the urinal and then blamed the 9/11 commission. He would’ve gotten away with it too if it weren’t for the Hardy Boys.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Now now, there’s enough reversing jinxing here for the both of us.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
saw that coming.

I like how Reggie Bush calls Joe Mcknight and tells him to go to USC and nothing happens, but Dez Bryant visits someone’s house who isnt’ even playing and gets axed.
Lunacy.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
If he was going to Deion’s house circa 1996, I’d be worried about what bad habits he picked up (hookers and coke). Now, I don’t know what he could have picked other than flashy suits and hyperbole.

Players recruit other players all the time.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Was that around the time he tried to kill himself by driving off a decline but landed rightside up by accident?

I think so.
I’m trying to think if it was before or after Deion put out his CD.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
So the NCAA has no issue with preseason All Americans going to the Playboy Mansion over the summer but Deion Sanders house is off limits? Makes perfect sense.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Dez Bryant = Braylon Edwards
October 7th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Noel Divine has also been to Deions house. Then proceeded to steal his car and leave it at the airport.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
I’m not sure why you are taking what he says so literally, I’m sure “I went to Deion sanders house” is an extremely simplification of some situation that most certainly leaves out some pretty important points.
I only saw the dude play a few times (who watches OkieState?), but seemed decent. Of course I though Limas Sweed was pretty good too.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
I bet you thought Roy Williams was an all pro.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Probably the most important question in this thread. Hammer found his calling it only took him 20 years but he found it.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
It’s just odd that he went there in the first place BELIEVING it was a violation. That doesn’t seem real smart to me.
October 7th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
He got in trouble for lying. A lot of you are missing the point.
If the point you want to make is that the NCAA is a legalistic and flailing organization trying to adhere exactly to a plethora of standards that are arbitrarily applied, you can make a case.
But don’t ruin your argument by missing the point of contention.
October 7th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
I bet the OSU SIDs are loving how Dez put that out there on his facebook after they didn’t specify anything in their press release, haha.
October 7th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
And anyone who thought Limas Sweed was going to be good in the NFL was working with a small sample size of his work. He had one good catch against tOSU and everyone thinks he’s good. Alligator arms, all the time.

coop: quit making sense. Sounds like a MENSA meeting here today

Amusing that 15 people “like” Dez’s inarticulate Facebook post.
October 7th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Eh…I saw about 30 people “like” a Detroit Tigers post about an ex-pitcher that died today.

I hate the NCAA. Hate. Almost as bad as SEC refs.
October 7th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
i really hope nobody is putting limas sweed in the same category as dez bryant.
not even the same solar system, IMO.
i haven’t seen a list of b12 flops/successes at WR …
October 7th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Any Oklahoma receiver drafted in the last 20 years. Feel free to ask Jerry Angelo about them.

add anyone from Texas (Sweed, Roy Williams, etc), and you can write Crabtree in permanent marker.
October 7th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
currently 4 (out of 64) starting WR in the NFL from the Big 12. That is 1 more than the MAC.
October 7th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Wes Welker anyone?
Also, keep an eye on Jordy Nelson. He’s not good enough to be a bust, so he can only help the Big 12’s case for NFL WR relevance.
October 7th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
It was the first B12 receiver bust that came to mind, but there are many.
I love the periods, you could follow this sentence with just about anything and I would buy it, “I went to Deion sanders house ….” and we taught boy scouts how to tie the sheepshank (doubtful). Or “I went to Deion sanders house ….” and now there’s video of me pissing on a 14 year old hooker (/R Kelly’d).

ok, and one of them is still Roy Williams, who is a flop (in light of draft position).
October 7th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
Didn’t OSU have another “superstar” WR like 2-3 years ago? I haven’t heard from him since either.
October 7th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
I recently came across an old draft preview (one of the ridiculously premature previews written in the Sept/Oct timeframe) in which one of the gurus had Sweed as a top 5 pick. He subsequently injured his wrist and fell out of the first round. Still… this was a guy who showed some talent at Texas. And now, of course, his propensity for drops in key situations may lead to a short stay in the NFL.
October 8th, 2009 at 12:27 am
Also, Sweed was great as TX. No worse than Bryant. Hindsight is 20/20.
