Spurs-Jazz: Beyond Boring
Uncategorized May 23rd. 2007, 3:14pm
Oh, you mean there was a game last night? Shit, we got so wrapped up in the lottery and mock drafts that we almost missed the whole damn thing. And then, everytime we drifted over to the game, the Spurs were up about 15. There was a moment there in the fourth quarter where it appeared as if the Jazz could make it a game, but then San Antonio hit Utah with a flurry of layups, and that was it. Spurs 105, Jazz 96 was far from thrilling, and for the second game in a row, we expect the ratings to be in the tank. Carlos Boozer had 33 points and 15 rebounds in a losing effort, and Tim Duncan had 26 points and 14 boards for the winners.
Heres the smartest move the NBA has done this postseason: not scheduled any games for tonight. David Stern must have known Cavs/Pistons had no chance against May Sweeps juggernauts American Idol and LOST, so he conceded. Plus, the lottery will give fans/talking heads/net freaks like us the opportunity to bang out every lottery scenario possible.
Utahs chances of winning this series? Well go with 10 percent. That’s probably being generous. Yup, its that bleak.

Speaking of Lost, tonight’s episode is supposed to be incredible. No idea if Charlie finally dies, but Portland won the lottery so anything’s possible.

The game would’ve been boring even if the Suns were playing the Jazz. Blame the Mavericks for not taking care of business.

Would anyone be surprised if both series ended with sweeps? Do either the Cavs or the Jazz have a chance? Why not just cede the rest of the games and get on with the Spurs-Pistons Finals?
By the way, coolest thing about the Spurs games: when the lights in the arena go out and they play the Undertaker’s old intro music before they announce the players. Not sure if it’s a finals thing, that’s the only time I’ve seen it on TV.

I guess I’m in the Charles Barkley minority, but watching the Jazz during the playoffs has made me LOVE this Utah team. They play real basketball. I used to mock them for passing on Chris Paul, but Deron Williams is now clearly the better PG and the gap is widening. Boozer is good, but I still have a hard time with his Cleveland exit. As for Paul Millsap, 2nd team for all rookie team? Show me a better rookie (other than Roy). The dude is a machine.
Anyway, I too was hoping for a Dallas/Phoenix series. Call me crazy, but surprisingly I am enjoying the Spurs/Jazz series.
Although I still wish Manu “Flopper, Faker, Soccer-Nerd” Ginoblli would just give in and contract some random third world disease so he could spend the offseason focused on dying from it. I can’t watch that guy play without feeling diarrhetic.

Wow, I thought I had read the worst of the whining until I found this website. Instead of complaining on a website about how much you dislike a match-up, why don’t ya’ll cry into buckets in third world countries which have irrigation shortages. You have the opportunity to solve the world’s problems and at the same time let the rest of us enjoy another championship in S.A. Just because your teams are out doesn’t mean you have to act and whine like Mark Cuban about it.

What? You wanted a Mavericks-Heat match-up? A Golden State- Nets awesome match? Come on, you gotta be kidding. If a team didn’t get it done in playoff time, thety didn’t get it done. Plain and simple. Manu may be a flopper, but every single team in the NBA has emulated the ManuFlop play and have players who overact, too. Three Spurs championship rings…it’s OK to be jealous. GO SPURS GO!

To the guy who feels bad about Manu. Get over it, or else he’ll have a third ring to his name (after the European and Olympic gold he already has) while you languish on the bathroom stall feeling real bad. And BTW, Nash and Nowitzki are soccer nerds too. Any problem with them?
