Sam Bradford’s Shoulder Injury Temporarily Hurts His Draft Stock
1-liner, NFL Draft October 22nd. 2009, 11:45am2010 NFL Draft: Even though the NFL draft is six months away, we’re still kind of obsessed with it. We usually have two TVs on while blogging, and one is tuned to Sportscenter (the other: old school 90210 episodes, flipping through movies on cable we’ve seen dozens of times, national geographic, Regis, etc). If a Kiper/McShay segment comes on, we’re watching. Kiper released his latest big board today, and Sam Bradford has finally fallen out of his top spot. The twice-injured Oklahoma QB has been supplanted by Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh. Good news for Jets fans – Alabama DT Terrence Cody has slipped from a Top 10 pick to a 15-18 pick, meaning the Jets could snatch him up as Kris Jenkins’ heir apparent. Also falling: Colt McCoy (18th). [Kiper's Big Board]

I love the NFL draft, too, just not in October.

Needs more Jimmy Clausen and #18 Notre Dame.

Mike Mayock shits all over every ESPN analyst they have. Not just shit, but exploding, late-night Mexic@n food shit.

McCoy and Suh could be taken in the top-5. When was the last time two DT’s were drafted in the top-5?

My thoughts exactly.
I also like this. I have no original thoughts to contribute.

can taylor mays do anything other than kill shots? in my limited viewing, he seems to be all athleticism, no instincts, recognition or coverage skills

There are some good Defensive players coming out this year, but it is gonna suck to have to pay them top rookie money. Low first round picks and 2nd round picks are gonna be able to pick up some decent qbs and wrs for resonable prices.

I feel sorry for the team that drafts Taylor Mays in the top five.
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:03 pm
I think the Browns need more ND should do whatever they can to secure Clausen. Don’t 2 NFL busts make a right, or something like that?
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:03 pm
I have not seen enough of him to say, but if I would be hard pressed to say there is a better safety than Berry. That dude is a freak.

Today, I’d say the top 5 look something like this:
1. Ndamukong Suh
2. Gerald McCoy
3. Eric Berry
4. Russell Okung
5. Jake Locker
Mock away

I think this is going to be an exceptional draft. Lots of value. LB Bowman from Penn State is gonna be a steal. I bet there will tons of underclassman opting for the draft after seeing what has happened to Tebow, McCoy, and Bradford this year.
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:08 pm
I agree 100%. He’s another Roy Williams (OU).

i love the draft but i think my team has a pick in the 7th round and that is it.

TBL: You should do a post at the mid point of the NFL season looking back at this past years draft and whose rookies have had the most impact. Might even be interesting to look at the past 2 years rookie classes.

October 22nd, 2009 at 12:16 pm
I wouldn’t go that far. Mays has the ability to cover the entire field. Williams didn’t. If Mays goes to a good organization he could be a playmaker for years, I just don’t think I’d spend a top-five pick on him. He’s not Sean Taylor.
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:19 pm
False. Suh is 6-4, 300 and agile as fuck. He is as much of a pass rusher as he is a run stuffer. Dude is legit.

ESPECIALLY hanukkah.
Simmons had a joke in his column years ago about the Wannestadt era Dolphins and their annual late season collapses that they were just like Hanukkah: they both happen every year, in December, but no one is sure exactly when it starts

In Dorsey’s defense, he was a 4-3 DT picked to be the NT in a 3-4. Whole different systems.
/Glad Saints had to “settle” for Sedrick Ellis.
October 22nd, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Dorsey was also injured his senior season. If Cody can keep his weight under control he is going to be a monster in the NFL.
The teams who pick high in this draft and reach on a qb instead of a defender are making a mistake.
