Wayne Gretzky to cabbie: “Now please tell me what casino my wife is? She’s gambling away my MVP trophies!”
October 26th, 2009 at 8:11 am
I was in Yosemite a month ago and we only saw one bear. it was nowhere near a minivan.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:12 am
Seriously?
So…who gets more touchdowns this year: the Rams offense or Darren Sharper?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:13 am
if drayton mcclane really wanted him he must be a shit bag. Naw, i have no idea who the guy is.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Glad to hear ESPN trying to push that Buster Olney broke the McGuire and La Russa story. SI has fanhouse breaking it and that is what has been the news sorce since friday. A-holes claim everything. They say he spoke to sources. I say he read fanhouse.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Is the McGwire story going to get it’s own post? I’m very surprised he wants back in the game. This is a big story, IMO.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:19 am
He coached the Nats. I guess it was everybody’s fault but his.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:19 am
So…who gets more touchdowns this year: the Rams offense or Darren Sharper?
Well, so far Sharper has more TDs than all the Redskins RBs and WRs combined.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:23 am
I’m very surprised that Terence Newman hit anybody at all, much less that hard. I’m will also be surprised if he doesn’t miss two games with some phantom injury suffered delivering that hit.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:24 am
And Sharper had one called back last week for a blow to the head after the pass was thrown.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:26 am
The Major League Jerk mansion?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:27 am
plenty of good stuff today … mcgwire doesnt get his own post.
is it a big story because it’s a joke? was he really a great or even very good hitteR?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:27 am
wtf is with delonte west? that whole bipolar thing is a real bitch, huh?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:28 am
if drayton mcclane really wanted him he must be a shit bag. Naw, i have no idea who the guy is.
He coached the Nats. I guess it was everybody’s fault but his.
I’d have gone with Phil Garner over Acta. The stink of “Natinals” is not one I’d want on my team.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:31 am
I think it’s a big story because he was so radioactive re: steroids. But now, steroids are passe’, so it’s not a big deal.
I remember that he always had more home runs than singles. That he hit 70 homers, but had less than 170 hits.
And that if it wasn’t a homer, it was a flyout.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:31 am
Apparently, McGwire has been working with Cardinal hitters for some time and is well-regarded for that coaching.
As for being a great or very good hitter, his season average was 50 HR with a .982 OPS. Yeah, I’ll take that.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:32 am
Are you being for serious? Its a big story because he was the FACE of baseball in 98, people found out about his andro, and he left the game under suspicion of steroids and disapeared from the public eye for TEN YEARS! This is just so out of the blue. If you do a post on Mark Sanchez today, so help me god..
October 26th, 2009 at 8:33 am
is it a big story because it’s a joke? was he really a great or even very good hitteR?
It’s a big story because he’s going to be forced to talk about the past.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:34 am
Who’s the fat chick with the worn out knees?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:35 am
hes a 260 career hitter right? All or nothing from him
October 26th, 2009 at 8:38 am
All I know is I’ve scored as many TDs for my fantasy team as Steven Jackson.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Wow the faux harlequin is back after his lost bet.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Who’s the fat chick with the worn out knees?
yay!
October 26th, 2009 at 8:40 am
Clown was in jail, he’s been released.
/not true
//spread the word anyway
October 26th, 2009 at 8:40 am
Oh, I get it. Clown is Steve Phillips.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:42 am
Civil defamation suit on Deadspin?
Good thing you have an attorney TBL Godfather, and hopefully Mr. Daulerio over there has the facts to back up his comments or of course used words like “alleged” and so on.
This all sounds like sour grapes by the sorry likes of Salisbury anyway.
Eat ass Sean if you are reading no one here likes you either.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:42 am
If you do a post on Mark Sanchez today, so help me god..
he’s dreamy.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:42 am
Hey clown, how about Notre Dame being #23 in the BCS?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:45 am
Clown was in jail, he’s been released.
i heard, and this may not be true, that the clown has to leave again for a month if Notre Dame starts 6-2.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:45 am
Sanchez eating a hot dog on the sideline? HUGE NEWS!! I expect 2-3 posts on this.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:45 am
Better yet, Pitt is #15.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Both of those videos are okay, but that Adrian Peterson runaway trucking will be a staple of NFL films probably for the next 30 years….
As for Big Mac, he’s a coward and a punk, so I could give less… I don’t see that going well…
And finally, that chick is fuggly.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Ill trade a Mark Sanchez post for a Steve Phillips interview.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Everything after #20 is dogpoo. Still don’t think they get the autobid, especially after losing to Pitt and UConn.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Was he wearing a hat at the time?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:47 am
What a fine, fine Monday morning it is today.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:47 am
If you do a post on Mark Sanchez today, so help me god..
he’s dreamy
I’d expect a least a small post on the Saints comeback on the Dolphins at least…since it helps TBL’s Jets.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:47 am
I just looked at Pitt’s schedule. Haha.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:47 am
Was he wearing a hat at the time?
it was a bonnet. It matched his skirt.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Care to make a bet?
October 26th, 2009 at 8:50 am
Clown don’t you dare make another bet.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:50 am
good article by Dwyre about baseball and TV…its absolutly absurd
October 26th, 2009 at 9:03 am
FWIW – Dirt has been contributing most of the italicized links in the roundup. The guy has a nose for news. Any feedback on those first few links each day would be appreciated.

the mansion interview was good, didnt know playboy was losing that kinda money
October 26th, 2009 at 9:07 am
The stache is doing wonderful things with that program. That Pitt game is going to be way bigger for ND then it was a couple weeks ago. BTW, the cfb season is halfway over..
October 26th, 2009 at 9:14 am
It’s late october, and the New York Yankees are still playing baseball and all is right in the world again.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Amen
October 26th, 2009 at 9:16 am
I didn’t send this one in, but who wouldn’t rather work 4 10 hour days than 5 8’s? I know I would.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:16 am
*Pukes*
October 26th, 2009 at 9:17 am
Dirtheavy, I would too, but I’d rather work Tues-Fri then Mon-Thurs
October 26th, 2009 at 9:17 am
I don’t want to hear this.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:18 am
I remember reading about them considering that. I didn’t know they implemented it. I would work 12 hours a day 4 days a week for a 3 day weekend. No bullshit.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:19 am
my buddies all had a summer job one year that was mon-thurs and fri was a half day. that seemed pretty logical. made for some interesting friday afternoons and into friday night
October 26th, 2009 at 9:19 am
work for the feds. we have flex-scheduling options and 4-10’s is one of them.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:22 am
bears and minivans? wow. vanity license plate? neat. 4 day work week for Utah? great
October 26th, 2009 at 9:23 am
I did a study at a former workplace on this. Folks that worked 4 10’s ended working about 19% less time than those that worked 5 8’s. People on 4 10’s came in later, left earlier, and took longer breaks and lunches.
I think it works fine at a time clock place or in a job where the measurements are X widgets done in a day. Otherwise, it is an unfair benefit for those who do so…
October 26th, 2009 at 9:24 am
Agreed. I think the sun is actually shining a bit brighter today because of it.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:24 am
work for the feds. we have flex-scheduling options and 4-10’s is one of them.
In terms of actual employment, I work 7 0′ straight, every week.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Anyone else see Boise State get jumped by TCU in the BCS? I love it.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:34 am

As a strategies manager, I confirm this is absolutely true. But some companies need to staff hours past 8a-5p and this is a great hiring tool. The best schedule IMO is 9 hours M-R and half-day FRI. Take 30-minute lunch and come in at 730am. Nobody who is a hard worker needs an hour lunch.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:39 am
This is why we scarf food down and are unhealthy people.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:45 am
I much prefer an hour lunch because it gives me time to relax and read. I specifically ask to come in 30 minutes early in order to take an hour lunch.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:48 am
Nobody who is a hard worker needs an hour lunch
what about rent a drunks?
October 26th, 2009 at 9:49 am
The hour is more about winding down and relaxing than it is enough time to eat I think.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:56 am
nobody that is a good, smart worker needs to work extra hours.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:09 am
Yeah Id rather be at work for less time and just take a half hour lunch. I dont know what I would do/where I would go for a whole hour.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:22 am
The article on Myron Rolle needed its own post. What a great read.

Myron Rolle is one of those guys who makes me feel like a complete failure. What a jerk.
Also, fuck football. Dolphins, Canes, and Vols all lose close/huge games. I quit.
October 26th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
And there it is; the famous TBL sanctimony. I would have expected nothing less from you Godfather. And no, he wasn’t a great, or even very good hitter. Name me the last great hitter who was a successful hitting coach. Or the last great pitcher who was a great pitching coach(Hershiser doesn’t count, because he sucked). In MLB, the math is simple; being a mediocre hitter/pitcher more often than not makes a guy a better hitting/pitching coach.
Will it work out? Who the fuck knows? The one obvious drawback here is that the MSM and blogs will focus more on his presence than the team itself, especially early on. I can totally see the Cardinals having a Plan B, in case McGwire has a change of heart during ST, or sometime during the season, and walks away.
