The NBA vs. the Recession
1-liner, NBA October 27th. 2009, 1:00pmWhere Frugal Happens: “The Cleveland Cavaliers will save $40,000 by switching from paper Christmas cards to electronic ones, while the Denver Nuggets have eliminated free cellphone texting for employees. The Memphis Grizzlies say they’ll save $50,000 by upgrading existing computers rather than buying new ones … In the past 12 months, the Bobcats, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat are among several teams that have had layoffs … The NBA itself eliminated about 80 jobs before the start of last season, about 9% of its work force.” [WSJ]

So the Cavs saved money by printing unused Finals tickets, but also saved money by not printing xmas cards?
October 27th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
If the text messaging was free, why eliminate it?

That unlimited texting fee certainly adds up. Chalk up a $132.12 victory for the Denver Nuggets.

The loss of jobs is one thing, but this is just good business sense. Recession or not, as a business you should be keeping your expenses as low as possible.

Cabbage,
He’s not hurt, to my knowledge. Last week was more about getting Jefferson’s confidence back and getting the offensive line to block for him.

Makes sense. If there ever was a team to “get well against”, Auburn is it.
An “upset” by Furman would not shock me.
