candice-parkerIt’s back! We’re always going to put the home team 2nd this season.

LA Clippers 92, LA Lakers 99: The champs got their rings. Blake Griffin looked sad. Eric Gordon soared. Baron Davis struggled. And the Lakers, even without Pau Gasol (hammy), got double-doubles from Bynum (26-13) and Odom (16-13) in victory. Kobe scored 33. Ron Artest was not T’d up.

Boston 95, Cleveland 89: Last year, the Cavs won 22 straight road games to start the season, and finished 39-2 at home. LeBron (38 points) got no help last night and the Celtics owned the final three quarters and the Celtics looked sharp on the road. The matchup behind the matchup: Candace Parker’s husband (Sheldon Williams) only played 12 minutes and scored four points and took three rebounds; Candace Parker’s brother (Anthony) scored 10 points in 40 minutes.

Washington 102, Dallas 91: Shaking off the stench of the Nationals and the Redskins, the Wizards gave fans in the Nation’s Capitol hope with a strong road win to open the season. The silent assassin, Gilbert Arenas, scored 29, but it was the surprising production from the bench (Andray Blatche scored 20, Randy Foye 19) that carried the Wizards. Dirk had 34. Mark Cuban stewed.

Houston 87, Portland 96: As long as he’s healthy, Greg Oden will likely be mentioned in all Blazers recaps this season. The good: 12 rebounds, five blocks. The bad: five fouls, seven turnovers in 23 minutes. The other player in Portland to monitor is disgruntled Andre Miller. He came off the bench to score nine points and handed out seven assists. The Rockets shot a meek 37 percent and were led by point guard Aaron Brooks, who scored 19 points on 17 shots.
