Ballin’: Candace Parker’s Brother Turns in a Better Performance Than Her Husband
NBA, Video October 28th. 2009, 10:15am
It’s back! We’re always going to put the home team 2nd this season.
LA Clippers 92, LA Lakers 99: The champs got their rings. Blake Griffin looked sad. Eric Gordon soared. Baron Davis struggled. And the Lakers, even without Pau Gasol (hammy), got double-doubles from Bynum (26-13) and Odom (16-13) in victory. Kobe scored 33. Ron Artest was not T’d up.
Boston 95, Cleveland 89: Last year, the Cavs won 22 straight road games to start the season, and finished 39-2 at home. LeBron (38 points) got no help last night and the Celtics owned the final three quarters and the Celtics looked sharp on the road. The matchup behind the matchup: Candace Parker’s husband (Sheldon Williams) only played 12 minutes and scored four points and took three rebounds; Candace Parker’s brother (Anthony) scored 10 points in 40 minutes.
Washington 102, Dallas 91: Shaking off the stench of the Nationals and the Redskins, the Wizards gave fans in the Nation’s Capitol hope with a strong road win to open the season. The silent assassin, Gilbert Arenas, scored 29, but it was the surprising production from the bench (Andray Blatche scored 20, Randy Foye 19) that carried the Wizards. Dirk had 34. Mark Cuban stewed.
Houston 87, Portland 96: As long as he’s healthy, Greg Oden will likely be mentioned in all Blazers recaps this season. The good: 12 rebounds, five blocks. The bad: five fouls, seven turnovers in 23 minutes. The other player in Portland to monitor is disgruntled Andre Miller. He came off the bench to score nine points and handed out seven assists. The Rockets shot a meek 37 percent and were led by point guard Aaron Brooks, who scored 19 points on 17 shots.

Mavs always start the season slow and playing down to their competition. Not worried.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Boston looked good last night. love the addition of Daniels to that team. Sheed was deadly from outside with that nice fro. Boston is going to be tough this year. Only team in the East im worried about
How bout those new additions to the Cavs?
TBL still riding the O-Done bandwagon? when will he learn
BAllin is back bitches
October 28th, 2009 at 10:21 am
The Wizards may be the cure for my sports-related erectile dysfunction.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:23 am
The highlights I saw on SportsCentre did not include Oden, so I just assumed that he was injured again.
Turns out that he’s just not worth mentioning.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:26 am
wasnt the start i was looking for…i guess i will have to settle for 81-1 this yr
October 28th, 2009 at 10:27 am
It’s a very rational thought to say that after one game Shaq and Lebron is a total failure.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:28 am
I didn’t look it up, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t accurate. I don’t think any NBA team has ever won 22 straight road games.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:28 am
Trey from S&F? bout time you commented on this site
October 28th, 2009 at 10:28 am
Ballin is back bitches
I’ll take a passing interest between now and Christmas day, unless the Mavs can work on a Dwyane Wade deal before then.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Remember to say: it’s only 1 game, it’s only 1 game.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Cleveland looks like they are still learning how to play with each other. Boston looks like exactly what they are. A team of smart veteran basketball players. If they don’t get hurt, and Sheed keeps his cool, I might have to rethink the way the postseason winds up. Ray Allen looks like he is going to have a nasty year.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:29 am
It’s a very rational thought to say that after one game Shaq and Lebron is a total failure.
this. And for the record, I said it was a failure on the day the trade went down.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:30 am
CP3 is coming to Dallas right before the deadline.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:30 am
@GG- i think he meant home. Toronto going to take care of the Cavs tonight?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:31 am
i forgot sheed was on the celtics. didnt see shaq play either. he was that bad? basketball starts too damn late
October 28th, 2009 at 10:33 am
He had some impressive moments. LeBron is actively trying to work him into the offense, which is good. What is bad is how terrible they got burned on pick and rolls. Also, Boston’s bench is just nasty.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:34 am
basketball starts too damn late
7:30 pm is not late
October 28th, 2009 at 10:34 am
Shaq and Z on the floor at the same time is not good.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:34 am
Boston is only going to get worse as the season wears on, waaaay too many old legs on that team.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
i meant the 10 pm games. im an early riser. just my opinion
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
I don’t think so. I think it’s going to take time for the Raps to learn to play together. Triano also introduced a new defensive scheme that the players are still trying to master.
I’m hoping the Raps make it a competitive game and I’m interested to see the Bargnani/Shaq match up. Bargnani put on a lot of muscle over the summer and his defence appears to be much improved. I think he’ll abuse Shaq on the offensive end of the floor.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Is Anthony Parker really Candice’s brother???
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
from SI re cavs
agree with most of this, cavs offense is going to be a work in progress and they missed west last night, big time
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Then maybe you do not understand how worthless Ben Wallace had become. Shaq is an upgrade. Cavs played pretty well last night, boston played very well. Shaq cannot guard a pick and roll though (but neither could big ben or Z) and Varejo needs to play better. Shaq helps them on D (see the kg takedown). Moon looked worhtless, they would have been better off with a bigman, Powe could be a huge help. did they even go after McDyess?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Colin Cowherd just said that the NBA is getting more popular and the MLB is getting less popular because the country is getting “browner”. That can’t be PC.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:36 am
BALLLLLLLLIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:37 am
They’re pretty deep though. They mentioned last night that they’re trying to keep KG to around 30mpg.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:38 am
they had to give up absolutely nothing to get him (wallace and sasha). they will get more out of shaq then they ever would/have out of those 2 scrubs
October 28th, 2009 at 10:38 am
Bargnani put on a lot of muscle over the summer and his defence appears to be much improved. I think he’ll abuse Shaq on the offensive end of the floor
How much lbs did he add? he was skinny as hell last year
October 28th, 2009 at 10:39 am
yep
Yea If anyone besides you was listening he would be suspended for a week. Although he should be suspended for a year.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:39 am
Is Anthony Parker really Candice’s brother???
yes. And she’s really married to Sheldon Williams, which is worse, because she actually picked that numbskull.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:39 am
Z should start and Shaq should come off the bench leading their second unit with DWest (when he gets back). With Powe, they would have a pretty solid bench.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:40 am
Colin Cowherd just said that the NBA is getting more popular and the MLB is getting less popular because the country is getting “browner”. That can’t be PC.
Yikes! How bout Bynum?! 26-13 last night. Single most underrated factor for Lakers this season. If he stays healthy, it won’t be very interesting in the west.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:40 am
He is. Get used to it.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:42 am
they had to give up absolutely nothing to get him (wallace and sasha). they will get more out of shaq then they ever would/have out of those 2 scrubs
They could have taken half of that nothing (wallace) and gotten tyson chandler, who at least wouldn’t be in the way, and is considerably better on D. That deal wasn’t just on the table, New Orleans was begging.
Then, they could have packaged Pavlovic with somebody else, or just dealt him for another player.
If you’re fired up to have O’Neal standing in Lebron’s way for 81 more games, knock yourself out. The good new for you is that Shaq’s only goign to play about 55 games.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:42 am
NBA wishes it was making the money baseball is. The country is getting browner. That’s why whites need to remain EVER VIGILANT.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Or true, seeing as how Hispanics love their beisbol.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Hold it right there. There is a team called the San Antonio Spurs who will compete. Manu,TP, and Timmay will not be ignored. Dejuan Blair has upside. Dont sleep.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:43 am
It doesnt even make sense, MLB is getting “browner” with latinos. He comes to the weirdest conclusions.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:44 am
How bout Bynum?! 26-13 last night
he has the potential to produce those stats each and every night. consistency and health are two big issues with Drew
October 28th, 2009 at 10:44 am
i dont hate the colts, titans, cubs or cardinals as much as i hate the spurs
October 28th, 2009 at 10:45 am
ESPN needs a sensitivity in the workplace seminar or a Diversity day like on the office. That shit would be funny. HR is doing a shitty job.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:46 am
I love how we are slightly intrigued by some of the clueless shit he says.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:46 am
since i know he reads this site my goal is to be quoted by cowherd on his radio show. i would die a happy man

/Suns Fan
October 28th, 2009 at 10:48 am
with that said, a lot of the shit on his show comes from TBL. TBL will do a post on topics that dont even have to be headliners and then Cowherd will use the same topic.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:48 am
Irish, Jan 8th…
October 28th, 2009 at 10:50 am
What? You know who can’t get in brons way, the help defender who is blocked out by a 700lb shaq. spacing on offense was not an issue last night. That and no offense in last 5 minutes.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:50 am
I thought that was how all radio guys “research” for a show. They steal shit from blogs.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:50 am
Indians(dots) like basketball?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:50 am
I’d guess about 15-20 lbs. His upper body looks huge compared to last year. He’s been playing in the post a lot more during the pre-season and seems to actually be developing a passable post game. I think his development will make or break this season for the Raps.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:51 am
That’s why whites need to remain EVER VIGILANT.
I’m on it, although I’m poorly positioned as a border guard. These canadians are White. But they’re French. And they dont’ want to come here.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:51 am
Everyone walking around with a race on their forehead would be a great Sportscenter commercial..

Yikes! How bout Bynum?! 26-13 last night. Single most underrated factor for Lakers this season. If he stays healthy, it won’t be very interesting in the west
Health is the key issue with him. But yeah, if he stays healthy, he will be a beast!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:56 am
IrishMafia,
I comment from time to time. I forgot my password forever.
As to Cowherd…I listened tithe guy once…he used the term “people” 45 times in the 7 minute segment it annoyed me. I almost drove off the road and into a tree because of him.
No shock that he’d use the term “browner.”
October 28th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Indians(dots) like basketball?
By far my favorite calls into sports talk radio stations.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:57 am
@ill- are you inviting me up for a game?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:57 am
/the Pirates hope
October 28th, 2009 at 10:57 am
I don’t get it. Is that a prediction for the final score of tonight’s game?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:58 am
@trey- good to see another Magic fan on here

October 28th, 2009 at 11:00 am
im glad you dove into that before i did. for the life of me i couldnt figure out what TBL was
October 28th, 2009 at 11:00 am
my family is offended.
you’re Indian?
I knew TBL was gonna catch that comment earlier.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:00 am
McIntyre isn’t a dead giveaway?
/sincere
October 28th, 2009 at 11:01 am
Dude, if you’re gonna be MVP, you gotta get a handle on the basics. I believe TBL’s exact words were “that’s the box I check”.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:01 am
As I’ve made the point before, they essentially gave up Z in the deal as well.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:01 am
@ill- i just might do that
October 28th, 2009 at 11:02 am
lol. Best week around here in a while and its only wed.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:02 am
Kobe should have had 40 last night.. had the ins and outs bigtime. Also should have had 9 assists - Bynum cannot finish off his great feeds.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:02 am
Dude, if you’re gonna be MVP, you gotta get a handle on the basics. I believe TBL’s exact words were “that’s the box I check”.

October 28th, 2009 at 11:07 am
LeBron looked great last night, but I could go without the 9 jacked threes. And 45 minutes, with a back to back and four games out of five nights? Ehhh
October 28th, 2009 at 11:07 am
@cursed- sad. but the question is, would you hit it?
October 28th, 2009 at 11:07 am
@irish, let me know. I may go in on a partial ticket package this week or next.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am

October 28th, 2009 at 11:25 am
i agree with this.
went to the game last night and had primo seats…KG is SLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW.
cavs need some practice time. shaq needs to get his fat ass in shape.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Given how NBA teams are slashing payrolls and are desperate for attendance figures to rise up…meanwhile MLB has another record year…Cowherd is an idiot.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:31 am
You know what’s wierd, I thought Shaq was actually in good shape when he was filming that whole Shaq vs. thing….I guess he just gave up after that.
I love that the NBA is back.
Also…TBL is Indian? What?!?! Good to see there’s another one of us around here.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:33 am
The winning team ALWAYS comes first when writing scores. Simple. Tough to take it seriously otherwise.
Cavs look like a work in progress. The West thing has to get worked out. I’m expecting something to happen soon. Either Delonte starts playing or the Cavs go looking for someone else to fill his very valuable shoes.
Celtics looked like it was mid-season. Still doesn’t change the fact that they are old and that they looked like this until February last year. They have great talent, but staying healthy is a bigger challenge for them than anyone else in the league.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:37 am
Oh, and here’s hoping the Raptors actually win one against the Cavs for once tonight.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:55 am
Hmm, I seem to remember them taking Orlando to 7 games w/o KG.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:55 am
How does a center get seven turnovers? Five blocks and twelve boards are good, but two points and SEVEN turnovers kinda kill that noise.
As for the TBL/Indian comments, I’m gonna miss you guys. You know the hammer is coming…
October 28th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
