Photos of the Girls from the Mayne Street Episode Featuring Bill Simmons
1-liner, Bill Simmons, ESPN, NBA October 28th. 2009, 11:00am
Bill Simmons on Mayne Street: Didn’t watch it (but kind of wanted to after NYC radio guy Mike Francesa took a swipe at it yesterday). But these buxom women are purportedly the same ones from the video. A blogger believes their names are Jess Rockwell and Chy Huang. More jarring than the rack on Rockwell? Simmons saying on PTI yesterday that the Orlando Magic had a “Top 5 point guard.” Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Derrick Rose are certainly better than Orlando’s Jameer Nelson. By the end of this season, Rodney Stuckey, Russell Westbrook, and Raymond Felton might be, too. [Busted Coverage]

i thought the mayne street thing was pretty funny, at least funnier than half the stuff kenny mayne does.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:03 am
Westbrook? Felton? Stuckey? get real TBL. my friend told me Billy said D Howard was a top 5 center.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:04 am
Not saying much. There isn’t 5 real centers left in the league
October 28th, 2009 at 11:05 am
Love me long time.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Irish, you can listen to the podcast of PTI, if you can stomach Simmons for 5 minutes. Simmons and Wilbon. Second thought, forget i said anything.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:07 am
wilbon was strangely silent. TK tried to drag him into it twice.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am
What the hell is Mayne Street?
October 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am
Jess Rockwell shows her rocks well.

October 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am
wacthing it right now Dirt
October 28th, 2009 at 11:11 am
fuck Wilbon. and Simmons was wrong about Vince best team he ever played on. The Raptors, fail. it was the Nets. my boy Reali should have called him out in the errors part.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:12 am
Wow, that blonde used to be an SbB girl. I’m kinda sorry I know that. Oh, she did a Hustler spread too (NSFW Google image search).
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Wilbon is a company man. And what Simmons was saying wasn’t really that crazy.
The Durant vs LeBron argument wasn’t who is a better basketball player. It was who will have a better career. Durant has good, young talent around him. He has a shot.
Jameer Nelson top 5 pg, ok, that was just wrong.
Dwight is a top 5 center in the league.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Rondo and Rose are not CERTAINLY better than Jameer.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 am
wilbon was strangely silent. TK tried to drag him into it twice.
Pointless to argue, since Simmons wasn’t making very much sense, and they’ve only got 5 minutes to whore that book.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 am
It’s 3 and a half minutes, not Band of Brothers.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Wilbon should’ve brought up Simmons comparing last year’s Cavs to the ‘91 Bulls.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:14 am
JAY V- 76ers are going down tonight
October 28th, 2009 at 11:15 am
I thought Simmons made some interesting points on Lebron. From a team aspect he hasn’t won anything yet, and by the looks of last night he still doesn’t have anyone around him. I know it was only one game, but Shaq disappeared in the 2nd half, Shaq looked slow, very slow at times, and who knows how long Delonte will be out.
In saying that I don’t think Durant will have a better career then LBJ, but I do think LBJ needs to get the eff out of Cleveland ASAP.
(that mayne street thing was awful btw)
October 28th, 2009 at 11:15 am
What a fucking idiot.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Cowherd just said TBL is nicer to him and the guy who runs it is a “really nice kid”
/talking to Simmons
October 28th, 2009 at 11:16 am
yes, currently watching Cowherd-Simmons. heard it.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Rondo and Rose are not CERTAINLY better than Jameer.
I’d take both over Jameer. Rose’s ceiling is ridicously high, and Rando is much better all around player then Nelson. Rando is a sick defender.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
thank you.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:18 am
Do you think that Nets team is better than this Orlando team?
October 28th, 2009 at 11:19 am

of course not
October 28th, 2009 at 11:20 am
God fucking no.

mayne street is horrible. i do like him doing sportscenter though.

October 28th, 2009 at 11:20 am
Why am I unable to enlarge those photos, TBL?
October 28th, 2009 at 11:21 am
That episode of Mayne Street was funny.
Also, I agree that Rojan Rando is better than Nelson.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:21 am
I’ve been listening to Cowherd’s show for a few weeks now after having been off it for a few years. It’s one of the better sports shows going now. I like that he isn’t afraid to make some off-the-wall points. And, he is a college football fanatic…unlike most of the gang at ESPN who are far too into the NBA.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:23 am
mayne street is horrible. i do like him doing sportscenter though.
I think I vaguely recall a smirk caused by Mayne in…oh….92. He should be writing sitcoms for NBC like the rest of those guys who think they’re too funny for the room
October 28th, 2009 at 11:23 am
I agree that Rojan Rando is better than Nelson
I think people are forgetting the season he was having before he was injured. I love D Rose. Who was the first commenter on here to rave about him? No way is Rose better than Nelson
October 28th, 2009 at 11:23 am
Cowherd knows nothing about baseball. At all. And he didn’t even understand/know how NBA trades worked last year.
/Know no one cares about those two sports except for various types of brown people.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:24 am
Aww Cowherd really likes you, TBL! You can tell when he mentioned that other gotcha site he was talking about Deadspin. He isnt allowed to mention them by name I bet.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:24 am
Not sure about that. Outside of the paint, Rondo has no offensive game. If you back off of him — like Mo Williams did in the fourth quarter — he becomes largely ineffective. Jameer will punish you if you leave him open.
I will say Rondo is a freak athletically, but I like Jameer’s game better.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Rondo is Browner though. Hes got to be better.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:26 am
I’ll listed to Cowherd 100 days out of 100 over Dan Partick. Not even a question. That show is worse than 6 day old Wonder bread left in my garage
October 28th, 2009 at 11:27 am
Cowherd is much better when he is not going to standard punching bags of the most polarizing franchises in sports (Lakers, Cowboys, Yankees)
October 28th, 2009 at 11:27 am
nice typing yob by me!

I’ve never listened to Patricks non espn show, but I used to like… no… enjoy him more than the alternatives back in the Dibble days.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:28 am
i go exact opposite jpq. Cowherds voice alone is enough to drive me away let alone most of his asinine opinions.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:28 am
*raises hand*
/Go Tigers Go!!
October 28th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Huh. You realize Cowherd’s actual enjoyment of TBL is nonconsequential, and his real goal was to not be called Schrutebag anymore. It seems to have worked.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:30 am
I think too many people have gotten caught up in playoffs hype for Rondo. He’s a really good young player, but a PG with no outside game to speak of, not a great passer and seems to be a bit of a headcase, isn’t elite level. I’ll take Jameer running my team if he’s healthy.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:31 am
I still miss Mr. Tony’s show.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:33 am
If Patrick didn’t have the four guys to talk to for 75% of his show, it would sound like they were taking an SAT test in there. He has nothing to say w/out them. Cowherd wings it 4 hrs/day with a chick who sits 3 feet away from him and pretends to be invisible when he talks to her. Why she is even there is more annoying than helpful. Cowherd makes great points, makes some stupid points, but is interesting.
Patrick runs his “I’m a BSD” schtick into the ground, then has phone sex w/ Reggie Miller and John Smoltz twice a week. Yawn.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:33 am
I think too many people have gotten caught up in playoffs hype for Rondo.
Boston not only actively shopped him, but they wont’ extend his contract. You have to be able to garner some information from that.
Look at Devin Harris in NJ. That team sucked last year, but they decided to move Vince and feature this kid, and pay him.
When your own team is trying to sell high on you, there’s something going on.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:34 am
dick.
and rondo vs. jameer is a no fucking brainer.
rondo is an elite defender PERIOD, doesn’t turn the ball over and there’s few in his class in getting to the rim. plus, he’s an outrageous rebounder. watching him in person last night…aside from LBJ, he was the best player on the floor…better than jesus shuttlesworth, fag pierce, KG, sheed…
jameer is good, but he aint rondo.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:35 am
yea, danny ainge is one of the worst GM’s in the NBA.
sheed to a three year deal? SURE!!! KG extension even tho he’s d.u.n done? ABSOLUTELY!!! lets give money to everyone!!!
/except the best player on the team
October 28th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I think Cowherd and some of the others in the media appreciate that TBL is currently the best sports blog out there. Particularly now that Deadspin has staked out the gutter.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:35 am
not to mention cowherd begins and ends words like he has a load in his mouth
October 28th, 2009 at 11:36 am
If you’re only looking at missed three’s and turnovers, yeah, Felton stacks those numbers better than Jameer.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:37 am
the mayne street thing wasnt as funny asthey were trying to be. and listening to simmons on PTI was like lsitening to a stoner explain lifes meaning.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:37 am
It’s quite possible he does, but he will primarily and forever have to say nice things about TBL after his stupid, dickish actions.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:40 am
im the millionth person to say this but deadspin is fucking horrible. the comments section is all inside jokes.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:40 am
not to mention cowherd begins and ends words like he has a load in his mouth
I actually like to listen to the quality of the content, not the quality of the enunciation. Dan Patrick has 4 hours of Dulcet tones, and if I listened to him at night, I wouldn’t have insomnia.
/actually not a bad idea
taguchi: those were such simpler times!
October 28th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Danny Ainge > Danny Ferry
October 28th, 2009 at 11:41 am
1. Dwight isn’t a top 5 center. Dwight is the #1 C in the NBA.
2. Jameer Nelson is a PG BUT: 1. CP3, 2. Deron, 3. Parker-Longoria, 4. Billups, 5. Rose
3. On LBJ vs Durant: Durant has zero pressure. If he leads the OKC Thunder to 2 rings, he’ll be lauded like Dwayne Wade is for helping the Heat win 1. If LBJ wins 2 rings in Cleveland, it’s par for the course for him.
Expectations and demands are different.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:42 am
i listen to cowherd all the time but everytime he brings up the packers 6-10 record is because of aaron rodgers, when he had way better stats than brett favre, it pisses me off
October 28th, 2009 at 11:42 am
fair enough, i just don’t like cowherd’s content and it leads me to nitpick him and his voice. different strokes for different folks as they say.
/who actually says that?
October 28th, 2009 at 11:43 am
Sorry meant to say: Jameer Nelson is a TOP 10 PG.

umm danny ainge should have his lips firmly planted on kevin mchales genitals
its a freaking disgrace that Ainge and Rivers have jobs and that nba championship was won with no effort on their part

top 3 pgs in the league are Paul, Rondo, Deron after that its somewhat of a jumble between younger and older guys who give you different looks.
Nelson is a fantastic scorer and top defender. He is better than billups currently. This is a fact. Rose too. Parker and Calderon are near toss up with nelson and Kidd and Nash (older) to complete the top five.
Nelson last year shoot better than Nash with much much better D.

What I learned from this thread is that JPQ hates The Dan Patrick show that cannot be described.

October 28th, 2009 at 11:56 am
Tony brought this up with Bob Ryan on his radio show today, mainly the LeBron/Durant thing and Wilbon saying nothing. Tony was getting wound up about. Ryan did not agree with Simmons, though tit was a crazy thing to say.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:58 am
Nelson was thought to be ordinary just 2-3 years ago. Then, the team adds R Lewis, and Hedo hits his prime, and Dwight hits his prime … and presto! Nelson is $$$$!
Billups still tops him, IMO. better defender, better leader. probably a push shooting; Nelson slight adv driving.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
He looked/sounded really really nervous.
I’m fascinated that there’s 70+ comments dissecting a 5 minute paint-by-numbers PTI appearance. What if he had actually said/did something?
October 28th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
True, Cowherd was a dick to the site a few years back. But, if he thought it sucked now he would probably just not mention it. And, besides, this site exploded in popularity after Cowherd crashed the servers. Jason is paying the mortgage on that increased revenue!

Dan Patrick show is MUCH better than Cowherd’s, imo.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
True, but he was still pretty good. Its possible that he is getting better as hear nears his peak age while other players regress the other way as they get on wrong side of 30. You know who was worse than ordinary when he came into the league until about 27. Billups!
October 28th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Tomato, tomahto.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
Dan Patrick show is MUCH better than Cowherd’s, imo.
Patrick is much happier having you as a listener anyway, Mak. Old guys are not in the Arbitron (or whatever does radio) wheelhouse (you barely make 18-34, I barely make 18-49). You’re worth more.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Count me in too. Cowherd is just way too shock jock/Sport’s Bill O’Reilly for me. I like to be entertained but I’d like some responsibility about the things you say. Cowherd’s make it up as he goes way just winds up pissing me off.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:55 pm

I enjoyed Patrick’s old ESPN Radio show. Never quite got why he left that gig.
Guess he tired of getting blumpkins from schlubby interns?
October 28th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
412- Mr. Tony is back on the radio and the podcast is on iTunes.
Streaming on ESPN 850 out of D.C from 8-10 EST. Same cast with Nigel, David Aldridge, Tracee/Jeanee/Liz & Gary doing news. Best thing on the radio hands down.

@sportsguy33 Francesa’s Mayne Street digs sounded hilarious. Can we have a group intervention with him? Even Jurassic Park didn’t have bigger dinosaurs.
@sportsguy33 Mike, you’re too young to play the “I don’t understand podcasts or web series” card. Still 8 yrs away. We can’t lose you to Geezerville yet. 1 day ago
October 28th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I thought it was hilarious. Simmons did a suprisingly good acting job. He should get a pass for his PTI performance though. He was obviously hung over, or incredibly tired. He was a total zombie.
