NBA Draft Analysis, Part III
Uncategorized July 2nd. 2007, 8:28pmUlysses arrived in Portland over the weekend. For the love of Mark Madsen, have you ever seen such a thing? Anyway, the NBA Draft is sooooo last week, but we promised a third installement prior to free agency, and since nothing massive has happened in the West yet, this still works. We just could not do the grading system. Everyone did it.
Definitely in the playoff mix
Dallas Mavericks – The forgotten team needs to slowly take Cuban’s itchy trigger-finger off the gun
San Antonio Spurs – Just hope Marcus Williams doesn’t try to destroy the team
Phoenix Suns – Even if Marion is dealt, we’re not dropping them … if Amare is, you betcha they get dropped
Houston Rockets – Aaron Brooks probably isn’t the answer at point guard … but we’d take him over Playground Alston in a Clutch City minute
Utah Jazz – It’s almost like the Stockton-to-Malone era was forever ago
Denver Nuggets – If Camby stays, Nene is healthy, and Iverson and Melo work again … 50 wins, easy
Should contend for a playoff spot
New Orleans Hornets – Chris Paul has gots to be pissed they didn’t draft Al Thornton
Los Angeles Lakers – Came dangerously close to putting them in the no pussy zone. Doesn’t. Look. Good.
Portland Trailblazers – It’s coming. Just probably not quite yet. The 8th seed wouldn’t shock us.
Golden State Warriors – Really like Brandan Wright with this group, but curious if Stephen Jackson can stay out of trouble long enough to lead this team in scoring
30-35 wins in a cloud of dust
Minnesota Timberwolves – Pity KG. Really, we do
Sacramento Kings – Commence all Reggie Theus TV-show jokes
Memphis Grizzlies – Like the nucleus, but just not yet
Seattle Sonics – Just too many new, young pieces to put them in the next category. But it was close
Los Angeles Clippers – Would be nice to land Billups in free agency to be their point guard, but it probably won’t happen

Looks like the Clippers may go after Steve Francis after Portland drops him. Not good.

Steve Francis + Cuttino Mobley = Crazy Delicious

Why would Marcus Williams destroy the team? He’s not Mustapha Shakur.

If Stephen Jackson couldn’t destroy the Spurs, neither can Williams.

Just viewed the video, and yeah, that’s a bit over the top. But, the Trailblazers is the only top-level professional team in the city so, things involving them get a little over-the-top no matter what.

This video proves 1 thing about Portland: the city has absolutely nothing going for it. It has nothing to do with the amount of fan support, it simply shows that on any given day, there is really nothing to do in the city.

Unless the Kings bring in Anthony Anderson and the rest of the ‘Hang Time’ Crew, the Theus project will be all for naught.

What happened to “the Sonics could add 20 wins next year?” (”NBA Draft Insanity,” The Big Lead, 29 June 2007). If the Sonics did win 20 more games next year, that would put them at 51-31. Was that hyperbole, TBL? Were you admitting in your previous post that you were insane? Maybe still are? Liking Eraser qualifies!

Steve Francis + Cuttino Mobley = Crazy in Love

After careful thought and consideration, lohur, 20 wins definitely does not seem possible. Great on paper, but you’re talking about fusing together two, perhaps even three new starters, and the team will be very young with no experience leading the way.

Does you guys remember when Amare missed the entire season? Phoenix somehow managed 54 wins.

Well Orlando signing Lewis was the splash they needed. I think the Magic can contend. Seattle, well I think they just lost at least 10 more games that Lewis could have helped them contend for.

Where was McRoberts? I was expecting Oden and Josh to make out.
