Trade Rudy Gay, or Let Him Walk?
1-liner, NBA November 3rd. 2009, 6:15pmRudy Gay: The Memphis Grizzlies’ dunking machine couldn’t come to an agreement with the team yesterday and will become a free agent in the summer of 2010. He wanted $12 million a year because that’s what Danny Granger of Indy received; they were offering $10 million, tops. After three seasons, Gay has career averages of 16-5, which were dragged down by his rookie season. Only 23, he could probably be a 20-7 guy for the next 5-6 years. Think Richard Jefferson. Problem is, the Grizzlies need his defense more than his scoring, and if you ask OJ Mayo, Rudy doesn’t play any. With Conley, Mayo, Randolph and Gasol, the Grizzlies will be fine. The only question left - trade Gay this season, or just let him walk? [Yahoo]

restricted free agent, so that means he can see how much he is really worth without really leaving the team.

If they aren’t going to sign him they have to trade him to a contender to try to get something for him right? Right?
/Oh, it’s the Grizzlies.

Right, it’s the Grizzlies. And speaking of trying to get something for someone who may be leaving, check this shit out.

Is this what happens when well known and respected NBA writers drink too much, or can this actually happen?

I’m still holding out hope that Bosh, Kobe, Wade, LeBron, and Joe Johnson say fuck it… let’s all just take 7 mil a year and play for the Knicks.

I don’t know if it’s Cleveland, but it’s somewhere, and it’s for nothing.

Donnie Walsh is trying to consult Isiah Thomas on how he can trade a 2014 unprotected pick for Gay.

Ballz- won’t happen. His entire thing falls apart in the last paragraph when it starts like this:
And says that Cleveland would have to trade him, which they won’t do because they’re a championship contender. Despite what you’ve read on this site.

Highlight of that odd Sam Smith article:
In a continuation of the bizarre, a Knicks’ security guard chased Stephon Marbury from his courtside seat during the game because he was in the wrong seat. Marbury then left and told the New York Post he’s gotten what he wanted as he was filming his own documentary of his night at a Knicks game. This may not be a joking matter anymore with Marbury, who seems to have some more serious issues in mounting bizarre behavior

Good luck with that. No reason for Kobe to leave L.A. Dr. Buss might actually splurge for that. He’s a smart owner. Probably won’t happen. Seems crazy.

Yea, I really don’t see Cleveland trading him. Plus he and Jay-Z are tight, which makes me like him alot less. Jay-Z’s voice and beats are horrid. Better rap out here. Actually, it’s called g-funk. But raps dead anyway. I’m not counting on Lebron coming out here at all. It does seem weird to have an article about it though. Wonder if we’ll end up hearing more people saying the same type of thing?
