Mark Cuban vs. the Dallas Media is Always Fun
1-liner, Media Gossip/Musings, NBA November 4th. 2009, 9:51am
Mark Cuban vs. ESPN Dallas: Drew Gooden of the Mavericks was being taunted by a couple of fans at the Staples Center Saturday. He allegedly responded by calling them “faggots.” The fans then ran to Outsports to tell their story and Mark Cuban responded to a query from the site. Then the media (newspapers) tried to spring into action. Except that Mark Cuban wouldn’t speak to them. Cuban has made it clear he isn’t a fan of ESPNDallas.com, which is why we enjoyed this subtle tweak: “Mavericks owner Mark Cuban declined multiple requests from ESPNDallas.com to comment on the accusations. Cuban did reply when contacted by Outsports.com.” [ESPN Dallas, Outsports]

Clippers fans are faggots though. I see nothing wrong here.

a certain open minded someone would enjoy weighing in on this thread, i’m sure.

High and Hard, Cuban!
November 4th, 2009 at 10:12 am
I find this amusing considering Cuban’s well knowns political leanings.

The two fans probably asked him where that hideous clump of hair went off the back of his head.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:20 am
He should be suspended!

November 4th, 2009 at 10:27 am
Would the fans be justified in calling him the n word in return?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:27 am
OK, so what exactly is it about “faggot” that’s so endearing to athletes?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:27 am
The “fans” in questions didn’t even see Gooden say it. They heard someone say it, turned around, and saw Gooden with about 4 other people and assumed it was Gooden.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:29 am
CJ this is how the last cluster fuck started.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:30 am
Haha sorry. But Gooden would have every right to complain if they said that to him.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:41 am
cj where you’re wrong is equating the n with the word faggot. again not the same. just like the gay rights movement isnt the same as the civil rights movement. do we need a press conference every time the word faggot is uttered? no. im gonna come up with a new derogatory word. cupcake. when ever someone does something that is unmanly or douchey call them a cupcake. hopefully this will spread and everytime someone is called a cupcake there will be a news story about it. fucking cupcakes.

Stop right there because then you bring up “movements” like you always do. Listen, a derogatory word about a group of people that was created out of hate is wrong no matter what in my opinion. Plain and simple.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:00 am
well apparently you’re a cupcake. and last i check a faggot is a bundle of sticks or a british meatball.

mrejr, you’re an idiot if you don’t think they’re equivalent. The n-bomb, this, wop, etc. They’re all the same.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:04 am
the only time i bring up movements is when some dumbass tries to compare the gay rights movement with the civil rights movement.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:05 am
Apparantly not, because you brought it up in this post.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:08 am
you guys are so open minded “he doesnt think the same way we do! let’s call him names!” it isnt the same.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:10 am
where you brought up the n word can said it was the same as faggot. ficso facso you brought it up.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:11 am
he doesnt think
this.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:11 am
Jesus, mrejr, don’t be such a cupcake.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:12 am
your new name is gonna be cupcake, cupcake, because you went from lashing out, to crying in a matter of moments.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:13 am
It’s not the same, in the sense that black people had much harder than gay people mainly because you can hide being gay alot easier than you can hide being black (hence why America had a gay president 150 years before we had a black president).
However, it’s still about a group of people being derided, denied equal rights, targeted, and killed for something that they have absolutely no control over. And if you can’t see that mrejr, there’s no hope for you, ever.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:13 am
i wasnt lashing out to anyone. i didnt use exclamation points or capitol letters. fucking cupcakes.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:16 am
That would be tough to use a capitol letter. A capital letter, on the other hand….
November 4th, 2009 at 11:18 am
your face is a capital letter.
/grammar nazi
November 4th, 2009 at 11:24 am
It’s only a bunch of name calling. People should be allowed to call others names if they so please. The “fans” should stop being such faggots.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:47 am
One of my favorite quotes from Old School. Ties in nicely with the discussion.
November 4th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
didnt kmart call cuban a queer motherfucker?
/oxymoron
//still worse than faggot
November 4th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
K-Mart would approve of Gooden’s words.
/ Yeah, walk that way you faggot!
