University of Central Florida Better Hope Marcus Jordan Was Worth It
1-liner, College Basketball November 5th. 2009, 9:45amSneaker Wars: “Marcus Jordan stuck to his guns and wore his father’s iconic Nike Air Jordans, a decision that has cost the University of Central Florida its six-year, $3 million exclusive contract with adidas … UCF officials reached an agreement with adidas regional representatives allowing Jordan to wear Nike shoes despite the school’s exclusive adidas contract. Higher-level adidas corporate officials later objected to Jordan being allowed to wear a competitor’s shoes. UCF stood by the promise it made to Jordan that he could wear his father’s shoes.” [Orlando Sentinel]

What a fucking joke. Your name is Marcus Jordan.

How hard would it be for Nike to come in and sign these guys up? That’s what never made sense to me about this whole deal.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:52 am
What’s the chance that Nike comes in and offers the school a deal? seems it would be a smart move by them with the family connection and free publicity they’ve received from this fiasco.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:53 am
As long as the back of his jersey says Shithead, I’m ok with this.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:54 am
What a fucking joke. Your name is Marcus Jordan.
His new shoe drops later this year. It’s the Air Overpriveleged. It’s specially designed to keep you comfortable on the bench.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:54 am
what does this crummy school/marcus jordan do for NIKE? Zero.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:55 am
This is seriously the dumbest thing in the history of dumb and things.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:56 am
And I don;t mean that comment lefty, this whole situation. He needs to be punched in the fucking face.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:56 am
… and in doing so cost a publicly funded university 3 million dollars over a logo and some child-labor produced rubber. That’s fuckin’ great.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:56 am
If anything, Michael Jordan should bail the school out himself.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:57 am

What did they do for Adidas?

my worthless recent history:
had the D Wade sneakers 3 years ago and they hurt my feet.
got he Carmelo Anthony sneakers 2 yrs ago and they’ve been good.
might need an upgrade.
sidenote: playing in a “high profile” (LOL) pickup game today. more details tonight when im home.
soliciting questions post for the “big interview” i teased yesterday will go up at 345.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:00 am
What really sucks is the football team probably pulls in more money than the basketball team and there are more kids on scholarship getting outfitted there than the basketball team. And what about any other sports programs they have. The more I think about this, the angrier I get.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:01 am
If my father was MJ, I would never put shoes with three stripes. That’s just dumb. I’m sure UCF isn’t worried about it. UA or Nike/Brand Jordan will give them a contract.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:02 am
My son texted me he was at the game last night.
Jordan played 23 minutes and had a “double single”: 1 point/0 rebounds/1 assist

why are we focusing on this?
adidas shoes suck unless they’re adidas golf shoes.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:05 am
Good for Marcus. He took the initiative to get it OK’d before the season, which all parties did. He should not be thrown under the bus for Addidas being a bunch of welchers. Good for UCF too for not changing.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:05 am
Adidas sucks. He did them a favor.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:06 am
He should be forced to wear his father’s Nike baseball cleats.
Minor league version, called the “Err Jordan”.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:07 am
Adidas, IMO, is the 2nd tier sneaker, and basically gets whatever schools NIKE doesn’t just for name recognition.
i have zero stats to back this up, its the only reason i can imagine adidas was there in the 1st place
November 5th, 2009 at 10:07 am

Ah. So this is what its all about. Dont blame Marcus Jordan. Blame UCF.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Why would he wear spikes on the court? That’s weird.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:09 am
YEA!
November 5th, 2009 at 10:09 am
id agree in basketball and football only.

November 5th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Yeah except for the fact that they outfit the NBA and that real basketball programs at the high school and aau level rely on Adidas. Nike has good products but they are mostly marketing, Adidas makes way better shoes for sports.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:11 am

November 5th, 2009 at 10:15 am
i bought the retro jordans that they put out last year in “limited edition” where they paired them together to commemerate the 23rd year of jordans or something along those lines. I bought the 11’s and 12’s in a set and thought i’d be able to flip them for a profit because imo they are the best jordans and apparently sold very well. It turns out i just have two pairs of shoes that cost a total of 310 bucks that i’ve never worn and i don’t think i could even sell them to make my money back. They are pretty sweet though so at some point i think i’m just going to break down and wear them
November 5th, 2009 at 10:16 am
He served his purpose. I am done FETCH-ing… for now.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:17 am
have you ever tried tiger’s shoes? they’re uncomfortable as fuck.
take a look at tiger’s shoes the next time the PGA picks up…they’re beat to living fuck.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:17 am
These are the best Jordans ever made.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:18 am

November 5th, 2009 at 10:20 am
reazy, you have to unload those the week you buy them if you want to make money. what size are they?
I’m trying to get a few pairs of the Space Jams in December and make just enough profit to pay for my own pair.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Yes I have, and no they’re not. Also, the Adidas golf shoes are ugly as fuck. The Nike’s are far more aesthetically pleasing.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Addidas dominates soccer cleats, and I prefer Mizuno when it comes to baseball – they always made the most durable toes, which were good for catching.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Jordan VI were the best
November 5th, 2009 at 10:21 am

November 5th, 2009 at 10:22 am

November 5th, 2009 at 10:22 am
And for the record, these were the best Jordan’s, because they paved the way for the XI’s.

dude, the tour 360’s and powerbands are nice looking.
and you’re wrong and you know it…nike golf shoes blow men. best apparel tho, even tho every golf shirt i get is an adidas one with a nasty mutual fund wholesaler logo on it that’s three sizes too large.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Let’s try this one.

The two best high school programs – Findlay Prep and Oak Hill Academy – are Nike/Jordan.
Nike had a NBA apparel license in the US but they let it go because they didn’t make jack. Same with the NFL. They learned that focusing on collegiate programs is better for the bottom line.
adidas is full-on wackness
November 5th, 2009 at 10:24 am
yea…those are unbelievable.
at golfwrx.com…the for sale forum sometimes has the tour issued footjoy classics that are made with the new sole technologies and aren’t as uncomfortable as walking on a piece of wood. i’d kill for some of those. KILL!!!
November 5th, 2009 at 10:24 am
I think I could sleep on sheets made out of Nike DriFit material.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:24 am
i have them in 12’s
November 5th, 2009 at 10:26 am
that might be the most brilliant marketing idea i’ve ever heard. you could make em out of the hot gear for the summer and cold for the winter.

Yeah, the tour saddle shoes are unreal. Only downfall is that you look like a douche wearing them in shorts. And it gets waaaay too fucking hot n humid to play in pants for the vast majority of the golf season here. Walking 18 anywhere between June-Sept can lead to some serious swamp ass, even in shorts.

near enough to hear it, but not close enough to see it, unfortunately. It was like 30 deep greenside.
My favorite time of both Cups was going to the “Brit” hospitality tent and drinking with them and hearing all the “ole, ole” songs. What a GREAT time
