Mel Kiper Jr: Taylor Mays Terrible Performance Against Oregon Hurt Draft Stock
1-liner, College Football, NFL November 6th. 2009, 1:45pmNFL Draft 2010: “If you watched the USC-Oregon game, you might have mistaken Taylor Mays for Willie Mays. As in, Mays was playing center field for a lot of the game, seemingly cautious and waiting for things to break down in front of him. He subsequently took some bad angles on plays, and simply was often too far removed from the play to be the kind of impactful player that most of us know he can be.” Kiper blames most of the issues on the front seven getting pushed around - guess that means teams that can’t stop the run, like Buffalo, Oakland, Cleveland, Tampa, and St. Louis should pass on Mays. But even if a ton of talent juniors come out, it is tough to imagine Mays falling beyond the Top 20. [Mel Kiper Jr.]

Because he’s a physical specimen and goes to USC a lot of people turned a blind eye to the fact that he’s never been able to cover that well. He’s the new Roy Williams.

Berry > Mays….by ALOT.

He’s a dirty headhunter. Fuck that guy.

He’s a dirty headhunter. Fuck that guy.
He also looks real good chasing opposing receivers into the end zone. Perfect running form.

outside of suh, eric berry is a freak of nature.

Bills are last in the league in stopping the run. They are awful. would be nice if they drafted that kid from Nebraska. beats drafting another Big 11 dud

I think Artie Lange must have taken CRM drinking and we may not get Artie’s picks OR the Pigsplosion.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
i don’t think he’s gonna drop far enough irish, he’s gotta be the consensus number 1 pick. This means you need the Browns, Rams, Lions, and Bucs to win 2 more games and i don’t think this is gonna happen.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
What do ya think the chances are that he takes the Giants over Philly because the Giants are his favorite team and refers to the game as the battle of Stern country?
/not hating on Artie

@PL- crushing my dreams on a friday afternoon? damn you. If the Bills dont address the defense, i hope they draft a QB. i cant live with Trent Edwards as the QB of my beloved franchise

Willy May Hayes> Billy Mays > Taylor Mays

Between Marshawn Lynch hit and runs, and Suh swerving and hitting 3 parked cars, Buffalo would have the most dangerous streets in America.

Wait until he blows up the combine, Al Davis will make it rain all over Mays’ ass.
Then he’ll suck in the NFL.

my bad Irish,…..but why do you think companies fire employees on friday? crush their dreams just to drink it away and forget about friday and saturday

If i was a junior and even the thought of being projected to go to Oakland, i would stay in school. Your skills and confidence would be diminished and would go on to be as useful in the NFL as a condom vending machine in the Vatican.

You might run like Mays, but you hit like shit.

One game drops this kid’s stock by that much? Still a top DB in this year’s draft. I’d take his physical talent and have a good coach/coordinator/position coach in the NFL teach him some skills.
You know… like Mike Nolan or Belichick? Bet they’re loving that his stock is falling.

In the handful of USC games i’ve watched the past 2 years, he seems like he has no instincts. he’ll get on sportscenter for blowing up a receiver, but he’ll also bite on a playfake and let a guy run free behind him. $.02.

don’t forget about the world’s most innocent wife decapitator!
I remember when the Bills were considering Haloti Ngata in ‘06, but they said he didn’t fit the Bills defense, so they selected Donte Whitner and John McCargo instead. They fit the Bills defense like a glove: they both suck dick

i’ll take taylor mays on the browns, thank you very much.
November 6th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
my only saving grace for this season..
/ will also take Eric Berry but prefer Suh

Sounds like CC Brown

sounds like troy polamalu.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
There; that’s more like it.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
I take Berry #1. Suh #2. Mays will be top 10. Berry is going to make some defensive coordinator a rich man. The talent at the top of the draft is heavily tilted towards defense. Which makes me sure that the Redskins are going to fuck themselves by reaching for an offensive player.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
i’m not sold on mays because of his football instincts mostly. Obviously he is huge and fast. Agreed on the taking bad angles point
November 6th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
sounds like troy polamalu.
you know that’s just hate talking spence, since polamalu throws his body around with abandon.

*crosses fingers that Berry stays one more year*
