LeBron Visits New York Tonight.
NBA, Video November 6th. 2009, 5:00pm
LeBron makes his lone visit this season to Madison Square Garden tonight. Will it be his last one in a Cleveland jersey? Hopefully. The game will be on ESPN, so expect LeBron to try and top his 52-point performance from last season. Questions the announcers may toss around tonight: Does LeBron need New York? If the Cavs don’t rebound from this pedestrian start – only 3-3 – will that accelerate his decision on what to do in July? Why does Delonte West have such hideous tattoos? How much longer can rookie Jordan Hill be chained to the bench before people begin to wonder if the Knicks got a lemon?Potential salt will be poured in the Knicks’ wound Saturday night when Brandon “Young Money” Jennings – whom the Knicks passed on in the draft – comes to town. (Young Money is up there among the top nicknames in sports. Right there with “Vodka Breath.”)
We’ll be around for most of the weekend, blogging and and weaving, soaking in the Alabama rout of LSU, and maybe even watching some MMA. Oh, and eating. Devouring large amounts of food. Then, we’ll curse like Kevin Garnett for no reason.

SIT AND SPIN
November 6th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Still holding out hope tickets will be dropped off on my desk. Last year was awesome.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
OMG that Kevin Garnett is so mean! How dare he!
November 6th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Lebron is such a fuckin douche.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
Cmon TBL, this is like some ESPN shit right here.
They got a different team than last year, things take awhile to gel.
I mean, they ONLY have 76 more games right?
November 6th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
I don’t care about New York or Cleveland or whether Lebron traverses between the two, but for some reason that picture angers me.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
In the Least, that might as well be 50-0.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Someone should photoshop SouvenirCity in there with him
November 6th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
ESPN airing basketball at 6am!!!

this

Me as well, especially at home in the middle of a pennant race. That shit just isn’t right, but when he performs year in and year out, that shit seems to get swept under the rug.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
Lebron is the biggest frontrunning fan.
He loves all the teams that are good.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
He grew up a Yankees, Cowboys, and Bulls fan.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
He grew up 10 minutes from me and grew up a cowboy, yankee, and bulls fan….and i guran-fuckin-tee you LeBron didn’t watch one Yankee game this year until the ALDS.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
Clown takes umbrage at this statement.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Who the fuck is Clown?
November 6th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Ridiculous, but doesn’t really shock me
November 6th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Who the fuck is Clown?
He’s the one with the pithy one-liners with near irrational hate of the SEC.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
24 hours of college hoops? I smell a live-blog!
/by Souvenir City
November 6th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Yeah. They’d better go crazy and win like 39 of their next 42, because we all know that getting that #1 seed is the key to winning the East.
/Orlando’d
And just wait. If he goes to the Knicks, they’ll be 3-3 this time next year too. And you will already have had like 105 “Should the Knicks Give Up on LeBron?” stories.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
Well, this has been a shitty day injury news-wise. The upside is that Kelvin Hayden and Anthony Gonzalez should both be back by December; the downside is that Sanders, Hagler and Jackson aren’t coming back. I think the Colts have the depth to survive these injuries but if one or more starters go down soon the floodgates could open.
And Bob Sanders isn’t overrated, TBL. He’s just tremendously injury prone. But coming from the guy who still contends the Jets are better than the Dolphins, I take your analysis with a can of salt, anyway.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
And the Phillies are still better than the Yankees.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:07 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
rondo – by what statistical measure were the phillies better than the yankees?
humor me: if you look at the stats in the 2nd jets-miami game, let me know what you find out. also, miami won the first game with a TD in the final 30 seconds.
is ABC really putting Cincy-Conn as the 8 pm game tomorrow?
November 6th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Sarcasm TBL, sarcasm. . .
November 6th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Seriously? You’re gonna go that route? I think wins and losses are the bottom line here.
How many games could you make an argument for with this logic TBL?
The Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl in the last minute Hey, the Steelers last year won with a minute to go. That’s football TBL, this isn’t better stats=winner. I could go on and say how the Yankees needed to 9th inning comebacks to beat the Twins, but they won, it is what it is.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Cincinnati deserves a shot at making its case in primetime.
And we all know UConn is the original ESPNU
November 6th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
Plus, most of the Red States will get to watch Oklahoma beat the shit out of Nebraska.
And all of the West Coast will watch USC beat the shit out of Arizona State.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Cincinnati deserves a shot at making its case in primetime.
I’m actually pretty fired up to take a look at Cincinnati. I’ve seen the all other undefeateds already, except them. I hope they win, of course, because I want 7 loss-less teams clamoring for a shot at the title.
Plus, there’s free cage fighting, and a new Saturday night Live. That sounds reasonable, overall.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Rondoman, a better example is that the Colts beat the Dolphins in the final minute this year. Ergo, the Dolphins are obviously better the Colts.
They also dominated the running game, and time of possession. Case closed.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
This just isn’t rational. I understand it makes you feel better to still think the Jets are better, but at a certain point you have to accept things for the way they are. Like, if the Colts sustain another major injury in their secondary, they probably won’t be good enough to win the Super Bowl. I could talk myself into the alternative, but that would be deluding myself.
November 6th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
i saw cincinatti when they played USF and Pike went down. they looked good.Collaros is decent backup.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
I watched Cincinnati in the game where Pike got hurt (forget the opponent). I’m rooting for that backup QB. He’s fun to watch. And Pike is a coward. I can’t believe he threw on street clothes in a close game when he hurt his non-throwing arm.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
I remember that game being on, and having it on, but not watching it. I think it was a Thursday, and I opted to go the every available sitcom plus Survivor route, because I figured Cincy was a fraud, like everybody.
So I’ll tune in tomorrow while DVRing the lesser fighting.
Oh, and does Wanda Sykes getting a new show mean that Mad TV is cancelled? Because that is fine with me.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
I still cherish those moral and statistical wins Jim Mora’s Saints had against the 49ers, only to have them steal the game from us in the last 5 minutes.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Yes, MadTV is indeed cancelled.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:10 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
That Lebron Yankee hat pic should be in the dictionary next to the phrase “front-running tool”.

lebron’a outside in his presser was fucking ridiculous, looked like Chet from real world brooklyn. douche.
November 6th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
Lebron is quickly turning into one of the douchiest athletes. Dude is seriously in love with himself.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Been true since age 17.. Still love watching him play, but he’s been the same for years, people just turned a blind eye.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
Agreed with watching him play. It’s awesome to watch him on the court.
I guess Lebron has been handed pretty much everything in life and has had people kissing his ass for years. Last year when they lost to Orlando, he looked like a pouting little bratty kid taking his ball and goin home.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
when did oliver miller come out of retirement and sign with the cavs?
November 6th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Breen just said “LeBron’s outside shooting has been superb?”
In what league? LeBron hit one jump shot against the Bulls, missed 7.
Hasn’t been hitting them consistently yet.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
I wish Mike Breen would die.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
wow. Lebron’s glasses were insane. absolutely uncalled for. Reminded me of family matters.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Knicks are getting wide open looks. They’re just terrible.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
Did anyone see Alex Rodriguez sitting next to Jay-Z? His hat was as bad as Lebron’s glasses. Guaranteed post about it tomorrow.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Im glad I have LeBron on my fantasy team. Good Pick computer.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
So this is why LeBron mailed it in last night for 40 minutes? Kind of seems like a waste tonight against a terrible Knicks team doesn’t it?
November 6th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
TBL’s logic that the Jets are better than the Dolphins is high comedy.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Please tell me that someone got a screen shot of ARod and his douchenozzle hat on the court at the Knicks game?
We now officially have TBL’s favorite athlete. ARod wins a ring and wears a hat…
November 6th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Since I’m at work, and the MLB season is over so MLB.tv is useless, signed up for the NBA League Pass Broadband thing, the feed is 1000x better than all of MLBs. It’s ridiculous.
Also, I’ve been flipping between the Suns-Celtics, Denver-Miami, and Toronto-NO, all entertaining games.
I’m doing nothing bordering on productive at work tonight.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:41 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
LeBron on pace for infinity points after 19 in the first…too bad he’s not going to play much in the second half.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
darko is on the court. always good for a few laughs.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Remember the Titans is on HDmovies for those with the channel…probably my favorite football movie. Just think what they could have done with it without the Disney oversight.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:56 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Can’t believe we’re missing the Suns/Celtics for this.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
LeBron needs to sabotage this game to make it closer. Ala High school Kobe.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
la times sucks ass otherwise i would have read an article about that cursed
November 6th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
why on earth would lebron join these knicks for less money, if he can’t win it with the talent in cleveland, no f’n way he’s gna do it in ny with chris duhon by his side
November 6th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Well, I think Duhon is a FA after the season. Could be wrong.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
This Sun-Celtics game is fantastic. Mostly because the Suns are winning and the Celtics look kinda old…because they are.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
The Heat are CRUSHING the Thuggets 69-44 in the 3rd. Surprised at the Heat so far this year. Maybe D-Wade is sending Bron Bron a message to head to South Beach

November 6th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
yeah. All the talk about New York and Jersey….but why not Miami? Good supporting cast, and who wouldn’t want to see Lebron and Wade play together.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Jason Richardson is going OFF on the Celtics right now.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
where did the knicks trade their 2010 first rd draft to?
November 6th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
TexansFan, I read that the cop was directing traffic really close by, took her 2 minutes to get there.. maybe she was just in the best position to get there fastest.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
yeah. All the talk about New York and Jersey….but why not Miami? Good supporting cast, and who wouldn’t want to see Lebron and Wade play together.
fetch: your boy Chalmers is looking good. 16 tonight. Beasley? not so much. I think 7. Melo’s got at least 30.
Marc Stein reported LeBron may end up here. He and Wade are tight. Riles was on the radio w/ LeBatard and all he could say was that he wanted the opportunity to have dinner with ANY great FA to convince them to come to Mimai. Pretty sure they have a LOT of cap room.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
There aint enough basketballs to go around or enough room in the arena for those egos.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
Yeah, Jermaine O’Neal and Quentn Richardson’s contracts both are expiring after this season. Lots ‘o cap space.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
So Miami could sign the biggest 2 free agents in Wade and James?
NO chance.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
So, did anyone else see that ESPN.com plagiarized Pro Football talk yesterday? This probably should be talked about.
November 6th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
With the NBA Cap likely to drop substantially next year, there will be no team in the league that will be able to afford 2 stars at max contracts.
So there will be no LBJ and Wade or Wade and Bosh or LBJ and Bosh with any one team unless one of the egos decides to take less money. Any guesses on the odds of that? (Hint: the answer rhymes with zero)
November 6th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
If only this were the Big East Tournament. The Cavs would go from a 3-seed to a one-seed based on nothing other than it being the Big East Tournament.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
You lost me Cursed…
November 6th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
cj: I read that on PFT just a little while ago. MDS is a bulldog, and one of the best bloggers out there. PFT is lucky to have gotten him back.
Wally, I’m not an NBA fan per se, and not a capologist by any means, but I just read that they have $38 million off the books next year just w/ Haslem, O’Neal, and Mark Blount alone. My understanding is he can basically take the roster to almost nothing and start over
I also know Riley knows this fickle market will only support a winning team, so he has stated for two years that he is treading water, waiting for 2010 to make a huge splash and retool. Other than that, who knows.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Mario Chalmers would break the assist record with bron and wade. He’d be the only person on that team who plays defense though
November 6th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
dont underestimate the jordan effect. both james and dwade idolize mj and want to wear the same uniform he wore(not the wizards…which never happened)and also chicago has a young team with some player that are perfect as role players and a young extremely talented pg in derrick rose. and they have a buttload of cap space come the summer 2010. dwade(most likely) or bron will be a bull.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:09 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

November 6th, 2009 at 10:17 pm

fetch: Who is Toney Douglas? Never heard of him
November 6th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
this would be amazing.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
I’d laugh if LeBron pulled a Hedu and said he was going to the Knicks, then didn’t. Fuck NYC sports.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Some great speculation…
I also think LBJ could end up in Dallas because he’s a Cowboy fan and Cuban would pay him more money.
He might also go to Oklahoma City to be near his good friend Warren Buffett.
He might also go to play for the Clippers so that he can be better than Kobe in his own city…
It just gets more hilarious by the day.

Went to Florida State. Was the best player in the ACC last year.

I just put on that Boise State/LA Tech game. What a fucking joke. Boise was up 30-7, now it is 30-28 and their kicker just missed a gimme FG. Why ANYBODY would think any of these small programs should play for the BCS is beyond me.
November 6th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
The Grizzlies’ shiny unis make it rather difficult to read the numbers, not gonna lie. Good think Iverson is 5′10″.

I will say, that Boise St.-Oklahoma game was one of the best games in any sport I’ve ever seen.
November 6th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
@Gods: Then I suppose you wouldn’t mind if we went to a playoff system, then? Since you just know (insert name of big program here) would trounce (insert name of small program here)…
Boise now ready to go up by 15.
College playoff FTW!
November 6th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Sorry, 17. My math sucks.
November 6th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Not familiar with the Holy Big East Tournament? Winning a game there is worth two anywhere else. At least according to tournament committees.
November 6th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
Got it now Cursed… I wasn’t thinking NCAA tourney. But, yes, wins in any sport are overvalued at the Garden.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:13 am
Are you kidding? I would love a playoff. Of course upsets would happen over the years, but 7 out of 10 times (minimum) the Boise State’s of the world would lose to Florida, USC, Texas, et. al.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:22 am
Wins in any power conference tournament are disproportionately valued because of the committees emphasis on the last 10 games. It’s not unique to the Big East.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:25 am
Beadle -
It’s in reference to MSM making a huge deal of Madison Square Garden being the mecca of basketball when there is really no basis for it, at least since the early 1950’s…
November 7th, 2009 at 12:30 am
I know Wally, I was talking about Cursed’s comment. My bad.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:16 am
I almost feel bad that I wasn’t around to… defend ( ? is that the proper word here?) myself or continue my frontrunning internet meme. Shame.
Go Hawkeyes.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:47 am
go wildcats!
/and psu of course
November 7th, 2009 at 8:02 am
So now players like Jordan and LeBron are part of the evil MSM?
November 7th, 2009 at 8:29 am
Darrell-
TV and print have dubbed Madison Square Garden the “mecca” of basketball. There is an inherent problem with that statement. It isn’t.
The Knicks haven’t been relevant since the mid-90’s and that was a flash. They haven’t won anything since the early 70’s.
College basketball in New York is irrelevant except for 4 days when the Big East tourney plays there in March, then it suddenly become over-valued because it’s in New York.
