Crazy John Hollinger: LeBron to Minnesota?
ESPN, NBA November 7th. 2009, 12:45pm
Because ESPN’s John Hollinger is apparently serious:
Let me throw out an even crazier proposition — Minnesota. The Wolves will have the cap space to make a run at LeBron, depending on a few variables — or at the very least can get there fairly easily if they know there’s a chance for a player of this caliber …
Minnesota is generally thought of as one of the NBA’s least-desirable relocation options, but let’s consider it from a winning perspective. Who would you rather play with for the next five years: Al Jefferson or Anderson Varejao? Kevin Love or Ilgauskas? Ricky Rubio or Mo Williams? Jonny Flynn or West? Ramon Sessions or Daniel Gibson? Next year’s fourth pick or next year’s 24th? It’s obvious, isn’t it?
July can’t get here soon enough. LeBron-to-NY has been the chatter for a year; then LeBron-to-the-Lakers was floated. Now Minnesota. Next? Oklahoma City. And then Sacramento. [ESPN Insider]

Id be all over that bandwagon if LeBron came. Even though I hate LeBron, Id still go to a couple games a year.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
That’s the most insanely dumb thing Hollinger has ever written and that’s saying something.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
Minnesota? Really? That will def. make him a “global icon”.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Clippers have better talent and a bigger market. So this doesn’t matter anyway.
November 7th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Here’s an idea–let’s talk about the GAMES.
Stanzi is walking off to the locker room for Iowa.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
7-3 texas.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Is Stanzi being out even hurting Iowa? He did throw 5 picks and has generally been a turnover machine this year. They’re winning in spite of him.
As I say that TD Northwestern. Go Cats!
November 7th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Ah. Another person who only checks box scores and doesn’t watch games.
/sigh

“Bevo, the most feared mascot in college sports”
Umm, considering I have eaten many of Bevo’s relatives, I’ll have to say that’s an outright untruth, Texas commercial guy.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Iowa sucks.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Um I’ve seen a lot of Iowa games. Stanzi made some plays in the Michigan State game but last week he hit guys that were wide open and threw 5 picks. He wasn’t that good against Penn State either. So please. And you’re going to tell me he was good against Arkansas State and Northern Iowa? The backup could have won those games. Yes, I watched those games too.
Also an awful holding call on Iowa. Oh well, suck it Hawkeyes.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Followed up by the worst call in the history of the Big Ten. How can you have helmet to helmet when the offensive player leads with his helmet? Makeup call.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Duh. Everyone knows its the Oregon duck.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Saw Food Inc. The other day. You’ve actually eaten little pieces of millions of Bevo’s relatives. Best documentary I’ve seen in a long time, however, I will continue to strongly ignore it’s message in my daily life.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Texas up 14-3 now. I guess it wa just a slow start. They are killing UCF with their pass rush.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
ooohhh. Texas safety got his ankles broken on the qb run. I feel bad for his family.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
SC-Ark is a decent game. SC 10-7 and driving.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Either way, they were delicious. No one fears delicious mascots. Esp. with steak sauce.
/Razorbacks are just furry ham.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
how do you not cover shipley?
November 7th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
McCoy threw a pick. Underthrown deep pass.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Saw the stanzi injury while walking out the door. Status l?
November 7th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Fear this guy!
November 7th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Probably a sprain. I would not be surprised to see him in the second half.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Bobby Hebert actually named his son T-bob?? man, that turrible. I know he’s cajun, but damn…
November 7th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Bobby Hebert is a God Damned fool. His fellow Cajuns (myself included) make fun of the guy. It’s not hard to believe that he and Ed Orgeron were friends and high school teammates.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Moxy-that’s a word you don’t hear much anymore.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
How about this crazy idea: LeBron to the Hornets. He’s close friends with CP3.
It’s about as plausible as LBJ to Minnesota.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
I am embarrassed that he is the “voice” of the Saints flagship station and hosts the pre-game post-game call-in show. All you can do is sit there and laugh. You can’t understand what he says half the time. He is the embodiment of every character in the movie “The Waterboy.”
November 7th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Jonathan MoxonJames Vandenburg needs to step up big here for Iowa in the 2nd half.Next man in please! C’mon Hawks…
November 7th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Jay, I don’t know if you saw my post in an earlier topic, but I think your kids pull the upset today.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Before they lost to Oregon, Gregg Doyel said USC’s loss shouldn’t count because Barkley didn’t play. Maybe you can write to him and see if he can state your case.
This team reminds me of 2002 Ohio State so much……
/without the injuries
November 7th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
cabbage, there’s one thing that is keeping my hopes alive: every year, Saban has a Louisiana-Monroe/UAB/Utah in him.
Even in 2003, LSU had an awful game against Florida.
November 7th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
/and it was an extremely mediocre, Ron Zook Florida team
November 7th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
I’m not looking for sympathy Jay. I just want to win. If we lose, we lose. There’s no excuses to be made.
Been a “next man in” team all year. Jewel Hampton. Dace Richardson. Adam Robinson. Now, Ricky Stanzi.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
I used to like Hebert(the QB) He didn’t lose many games for us. Never heard him on the radio.
shhh. cabbage, your age is showing. Might wanna tuck that in.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Jay, I think LSU has enough big plays in their offense to pull it out.
Bama’s D should control most of the game against your o-line, but it only takes one slip by a DB to give up a score.
Don’t like Bama’s chances against the Tigers red zone D. Ingram could gain 185 yards and LSU could still keep Bama out of the endzone.
13-12 LSU
November 7th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
sooo, Saban = Pete Carroll, Jay?
November 7th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Griese and myself are just about the same age.
It’s a nice day out, I think I’ll leave it out.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Jefferson still starts for LSU at QB? That’s not a good thing against a Saban defense. Bama’s qb isn’t much better sooo
13-7 LSU(homer pick)
November 7th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Iowa defense gaining more yards than the offense…
Ball back in NW territory. Moxon looking better. Let’s get 6!
November 7th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
That’s funny. Griese and I are about the same age, too!
You mean Brian, right?
November 7th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Carroll > Saban
He has had a perfect season.
/Hell freezes off–Jay defends USC
November 7th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
(praying that Russell Shepard has been saved for this game)
November 7th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I think that sometimes Saban’s intensity starts to fall on “deaf ears” in kids. Last years game vs. Utah was a matter of the kids on the team not really caring after losing to Florida in the SEC Championship. Not taking anything away from Utah, they came out and did what the had to do, but Bama vs. Utah for a National Championship is a much different game than the Sugar Bowl.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I wish.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I’ll actually buy that, cabbage. Utah played great, but Bama looked like their season was already over playing in that game.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Iowa is missing key starters on offense, so I’ll cut them some slack. They don’t look like a top ten team right now. Last week either.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Minus all the talent that OSU had on that squad. And the fact that OSU was rarely behind in a game that entire year. Yes, the games were close, but they were in the lead in almost every one of them and controlled their own destiny.
/Purdue the exception…
November 7th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
You mean the TWO first round draft picks? Richardson and Bulaga are first round OL talents according to Kiper.
But Buckeye fans wouldn’t take the time to look that up. It’s ok.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
The Hogs have got it rolling against the Gamecocks 23-16
November 7th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
I have to say, so far the most convincing theory I’ve heard was Simmons’ idea that he could end up in LA - with the Clippers.
