A Rough Day to Be a College Football Fan
College Football November 7th. 2009, 2:00pm
The 8 pm marquee game? Connecticut vs. Cincinnati. Weak. There are only two games in which ranked teams meet – LSU-Alabama and Ohio State-Penn State – and both are at 3:30. This means it is a great day to rake the leaves and get your wife off your back. Since we’re talking about leaves … isn’t raking leaves the biggest waste of time, ever? We’re trying to put together an argument against raking leaves, but it is very difficult to go against Bob Villa. We’re off to buy a winter jacket; hoodies just won’t cut it anymore as temperatures dip into the 30s.

Off the top of my head, I can’t name another game that matters until the SEC Championship game.
Maybe OSU/Iowa if Iowa can win today?
Has Cincinnati played Pitt yet?
Maybe Auburn can upset Alabama?

Since this day of college football is absolute dogshit, but i would just like to comment to the kids out there as to why you shouldn’t share anabolic steroid needles or go colon cowboy with Roberto Alomar because you will end up looking like Sammy Sosa. That is it. Stay in school kids.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I hate when we have weeks where the marquee primetime games are all “Big Time School Beats the Shit out of Somebody”
November 7th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
75 and sunny today in Austin.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
30s is shorts weather
November 7th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
Today is without a doubt the nicest day of the year here in Baton Rouge
November 7th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
The Iowa/NW game means nothing. You know… only the 4th ranked team in the country fighting for it’s life.
IT MATTERS.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
62 and perfect in Akron as well. Crazy weather for Ohio in November
November 7th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
I meant after this week, SC.
This is the second week week we’ve had a “This week sucks” post. My point was that the rest of the year sucks except for the unexpected upset and the semi-big game.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don’t forget about SC at ASU! Best game of the year. Book it.
/ sad ASU alum
November 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
I can’t fucking believe K State is going to win the North.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Pretty sure I’m going to have an ulcer by the end of the season.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
77 in Cameron. youngest son playing in the pee-wee football(8-10 year olds) superbowl out here today at Yoe stadium. Perfect weather. I hope they win, they played this team twice that both ended in ties. One of the players on the other teams line is 5′3″ 220 lbs. I just don’t think that’s right*.
/if he was on our team, it’ll be ok. But that’s not the case.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
I can’t believe the north is still allowed to have a team play for the big 12 championship.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
can’t wait until modern warfare 2 comes out.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I believe in rules and order, clearly (see Boise State post). But K-State—They fucking lost to Louisiana-Lafayette. Louisiana-Lafayette. Yes, Louisiana-Lafayette.
/Texas will play a team that lost to the 5th place Sun Belt team for a chance to play for the national championship
November 7th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
me neither Mak. It’s probably because the North is way better than the South in basketball so the Big 12 throws them a bone in football.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
?
Kansas and what army?
November 7th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Nice to see RichRod Michigan continue to “revolutionize” the Big Ten.
/Tirico’d
November 7th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Don’t they not play in divisions in Big 12 basketball?
November 7th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Kansas alone makes the North >>>>South, but Missouri too. Really the Big 12 is a four team league with KU, Mizzou, UT and OU, and every once in awhile you have a OK State or Iowa State or someone that has a good year.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Jay: You play the teams within your division twice and outside your division once, but it’s not like there’s a North champ and a South champ
November 7th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Hey… this may be a sucky week for you guys, but not for me. The best wide receiver in college football is back today for the Irish!
/Welcome back Floyd, we’ve missed you.

November 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
OOOOOO, okay clown, I see you son.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Going back 3 years, every Big XII South team has made the Big Dance at least once.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Julio Jones is better
/eye test’d
Did Northwestern just ice themselves?
November 7th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
/fixed for clown
//needed more racism
November 7th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
The previous 3 mins of the Navy-ND game just jacked me the fuck up.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
Shipley was a great reciever for Major Applewhite.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
I’d feel a whole lot better about today’s game if we had Colt McCoy at QB.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Best two Big 12 teams last year were in the North
November 7th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Yup. Ricky Stanzi might’ve made that throw. If the defense doesn’t score a touchdown, the Hawkeyes get “the treatment” this week.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
C’mon, Jay. Don’t give up on the Huskers.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
35-3 texas.
/I remember when Darrell K. Royal recruited Shipley.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I think Mizzou has the best chance to turn it around and win it–if they can beat K State on the road, they could run the table.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
273 yards recieving for shipley. damn.
ND fumble. Navy ball.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
You and TBL, “Use Your Delusion” I and II.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Allright, SouvenirCity, it all comes down to this.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
This Kansas team is going to make me actually have emotions about a college football game. That’s too bad
November 7th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
shoulda been a pick by northwestern.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
4th down. do or die time 4 iowa.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Iowa spits in deaths face and then takes its daughter out to a movie
November 7th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
4th down. do or die time 4 iowa.
part 2.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Oh well Iow… there is still the Big 10… sorry SC
November 7th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Big Ten top to bottom is just brutal.
/SEC fan if same thing happened.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Yes. Fuck yes.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Iowa goes doooownnnnn!
November 7th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
“There’s only 6 undefeated teams left in college football!”
November 7th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
If somehow Wisconsin could win the Big Ten, would the Rose Bowl be played at 11:00 on ESPN?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
We’re just a couple losses away from Boise or TCU in the title game. schadenfreude!
November 7th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
i would say at least i get to watch Ohio State/Michigan to end the season, but my god is that a load of suck ass.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
+1
November 7th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Pam Ward and Chris Speilman will have your call. Todd Christensen will be on the sidelines.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
It was a nice run, Iowa. Enjoy the Alamo Bowl.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
How far does Iowa drop?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Poor Iowa.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
Go fuck yourself clown. I hope the SEC rolls you in the title game.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Thank god we won’t be subjected to Iowa on New Year’s Day. Sadly, we will now be subjected to Ohio St. or Penn St., which is nearly as bad.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Awesome, screw those pig fucking Iowans (only because you did it to us last year). The B10 will be decided by OSU/PSU, as it should be.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Nothing against Iowa, but I sure am glad to see the end of “what other team is 9-0″ and the other paltry defenses Iowa fans have offered up for this good team that does NOT deserve to be mentioned in any conversation of national title contenders.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Go Navy
Tough loss SouvenirCity
November 7th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
See ya Iowa. It was fun while it lasted but losing your top 3 rb and your number 1 qb is just something no team can overcome. Iowa will probably lose at least 1 or 2 more games. After PSU smacks down the buckeyes it will clear the way for Penn State against Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Now back to the SEC.
Spurrier is never going to get South Carolina to that next level. It’s time to find a new coach.
/honest
November 7th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Finally
November 7th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Win the rest of their games, they are Rose Bowl bound. They still have shit to play for.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
How many games would Florida have lost without Tebow this year? 3 or 4?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
What happened to the Fun and Gun? USC has been inept on offense since Spurrier has been there. Nasty defense most years, but stone age offense. Was Spurrier not the brains behind those Florida teams?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
So far? They’ve really only played 3 teams that they COULD have lost to.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
fucking shit… here we go again.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Spurrier is head and shoulders above Holtz.
ND misses the FG SWEET
November 7th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Because head to head losses don’t mean anything. Do you hang out with Sportsgal alot coop?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Man, that Charlie Cheeseburger schematic advantage just rears its head every game when the Irish approach the Red Zone. Wow.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Does South Carolina have the resources and facilities to compete with the elite of the SEC?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
No, because Iowa loses next week too.
/salt in wound
November 7th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Not really.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Iowa loss is a damaging blow to the Big 10 getting 2 teams into the BCS.
Let’s say … PSU beats OSU and then OSU beats Iowa.
PSU wins the league and goes to the Rose Bowl.
I think we’ll definitely see USC in a BCS bowl, and ND – assuming it rallies today and wins out – too.

November 7th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Time for real football.
Go Bama. An offensive TD would be nice today.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
I’m done for the day. Have fun at my expense.
Stanzi done for the year.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
I’ve seen bedspreads smaller than Cody’s suitcoat.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Is it my imagination or do those two lines completely contradict one another?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
The browns play by 3’s too….is that real football?
November 7th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
In his post-game presser, DickRod is whining about something the Purdue coach did after the game, blaming him about getting some lineman suspended.
When you’re worried about the 1st year PURDUE coach and what he says, you are in serious trouble.
November 7th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Floyd is the best WR in the country.
/if Indiana seceded and made their own country
November 7th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Another victoriuos week for Purdue and Temple.
