This deal works better for Wade than Lebron. But it’s a very real thing. A team without any cash can trade a free agent to be they can’t pay, and then take back Ericka Dampier, who they can then immediately cut and owe nothing.
It works for Wade, it works for Paul.

Since the Knicks roster is lousier than lousy, and there’s less cap room than ever next year, maybe not. Miami has a ton of space, New Jersey has a ton of space. New Jersey has better dudes than New York, and Miami’s got Wade, and a boatload of room for veterans to get on board.
