1-liner, NBA, TV November 10th. 2009, 12:30pmKaradashians > Mad Men: Unbelievably, Lamar Odom’s wedding to Khloe Kardashian scored higher ratings than the Mad Men season finale. We have never – nor will we ever – see a minute of the Kardashians show; we have this season of Mad Men saved on DVR, but have yet to watch any episodes. Odom’s wedding reeled in 3.2 million viewers on E!; Mad Men only did 2.3 on AMC. [The Wrap]

this just goes to prove that people are dumb.

Reason # 3,000,345 why the U.S. is going to shit.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
the last 3 episodes were great.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Yet you find GG, 90210, and Melrose Place to be appointment viewing.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
mad men will be next series for me and wife
thus far, sopranos, deadwood, carnivale, weeds, L word, big love, dexter, all because of blockbuster.com
November 10th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Truly horrifying.

I think the second sentence deserves to have the word “unbelievably” in front of it more than the first sentence.

forgot battlestar galactica, we’re all caight on that one too
November 10th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
This.
3.2 million people is less than 1% of the US population. If 1% of the people in this country were gone, would anyone notice or care?
November 10th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
amc plays a lot of old movies and quite frankly is a shitty channel to have a show on.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Fixed so I don’t sound like a serial killer.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Breaking Bad and Mad Men are two of the five best shows currently on television, so I’m pretty happy AMC makes television, regardless of if the lead in is always Tom Cruise smiling and a fadeout.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
I just got the first disk of the first season of The Wire. I’m excited.

How can you complain if you directly contributed to Mad Men’s loss by not watching?
November 10th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
So, about that (any sports-related topic)…
/Lamar Odom wedding = sports, my ass

TJ
Tony Barnhart’s BCS Bowl predictions here. Safe to say his opinion differs from a lot of ours.

Really liked the finale but couldn’t help but feel like it was incomplete, I have no idea why though.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Bit late for someone of your damned lib sensibilities. You’re gonna have a plethora of new shit to be angry about, and hopefully an addiction to Jesse Winchester’s bad ass song “Step by Step”.

Best show I’ve ever seen…Mad Men rocks pretty good too but I haven’t seen any of the third season yet, that will be a semester break project
I’m thinking about asking my boss if it will be cool to have a stocked mini-bar in my office like those guys

Here’s some pret-ty, pret-ty, pret-tay good news for Curb fans who don’t get HBO
(although I find it hard to see how the “Beloved Cunt” episode will translate to regular TV, let alone Leon)
November 10th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
As a fellow newcomer to the show, I felt it surpassed the hype. It’s so damned awesome. The crime scene investigation where only one word is uttered is the best scene in TV history.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I thought it was great, but the fact that all of my favorite shows are 12 or 13 episodes per season makes them feel incomplete. Way too short, 20 would be great.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Very happy with everything. Jon Hamm is the best actor currently on TV IMO, the last few episodes he was OWNING SHIT. He’s from the St. Louis area, so he does a bunch of local Mizzou and Blues ads that are fucking hilarious (Don Draper roots for my team!). In one he claims he’s naming his first child TJ Oshie Hamm, boy or gril.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Again these numbers are skewed. Total viewers on cable networks doesn’t tell the whole picture. E! is on many many more cable systems around the country than AMC so obviously their total viewers will always be greater. You need to get cable adjusted ratings to compare the two even though I’m sure the Odian wedding still beat Mad Men.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I’m sad they go away so quickly, but I think you avoid a lot of filler episodes this way. I don’t feel like the story is being artificially shrunk, almost ever, on the short series, but shit that has 22 episodes feels way longer than it needs to be all the time.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Load these up in your queue, you’ll want to have at least one disk on hand for when you are done watching the current disk. Have fun, The Wire is a hell of a show.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I just got the first disk of the first season of The Wire. I’m excited.
Season 1 is still my favorite.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
@TST: I hear ya, definitely wouldn’t want that to happen. I’ve revised my number to 16.

My thoughts exactly. And I have no fucking idea what the show Mad Men is about. Never heard of it.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Is it a liberal show? I just assumed it was a badass drama.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:03 pm

you should, the stories and acting are outstanding. but even if they weren’t, you still have womanizing, casual sexism and hardcore boozing in the office. plus a hot redhead with an epic rack.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Season 1 is still my favorite.
ill: couldn’t agree more. I liked the show, but nowhere near the level as a lot of guys on here. The first season was knock your socks off. The port season with all the Polacks was good, Stringer Goes to School was kinda neat, but then the Carcetti runs/gets elected and the newspaper thing kinda started to lose the intense interest I had at the beginning
/could just be me
Mad Men I purposely avoid, because I never started from the beginning. I need to rent Season 1 and dive in
November 10th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I can get down with that.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
I’m no longer a Jon Hamm fan. I hate that motherfucker TJ Oshie
November 10th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Not in an in your face way. Over the five seasons it just subtly touches on how every level of society is fucked up in Baltimore, and in turn how each makes it less and less likely anything will improve, and further how difficult it is for the poor urban youth to rise out of their situation in any meaningful way. Lost of shooting, fucking, and cuss words in between that stuff though.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
3.2 million? Did they show the honeymoon night?
November 10th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
If you want to see a Kardashian manipulate a big black dong it’s only a few clicks of the mouse away Cabbage.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Except for Namond, of course.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Mad Men is overratted. Without Cristina Hendricks and January Jones, that show would suck. Has that been on “stuff white people like” yet? If not, it will be.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Just answered my own question…..

for those of you who havent seen the wire yet, i envy you. god that is a good fucking show. i wish i could watch it again for the first time.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Totally different; I watch all those shows, and I watch Mad Men. In fact, I would venture a guess that the demo for Mad Men is much more similar to the demo for GG than it is for KUWTK.
I would never watch a second of the Kardashian show. There’s a huge difference between watching trashy dramas and watching trashy reality TV, and if you don’t recognize the difference I can’t help you.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Missing my point. He hasn’t watched a second of this season of Mad Men but he’s up to date on those shows.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
In other news, dumb people prefer checkers over chess.
November 10th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
.
Fair enough…I’m sure that was completely your point, but I know where you are coming from.
November 10th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Yup, those shows take priority over MM, which i’ve never seen. just had a bunch of people tell me how great it is, thought i’d give it a look.
