Last week: Let’s stop chanting ‘the South shall rise again’ at the end of ‘From Dixie with Love.’ This week: The band won’t be playing, ‘From Dixie with Love’ when Tennessee visits Oxford Saturday. The school’s new chancellor has decided that the song – which has been played before and after football games for 20 years – won’t be played again anytime soon. The ‘South shall rise again” chants at the end of the song only began in the last five years or so, according to the AP. At the 1:10 mark here you can hear what the lyrics sound like. Kidding aside, this is a tough call. As an institution of higher learning, you should aim for higher standards and that’s what they are trying to do. This may not be popular but the Chancellor is acting for the school, not other interests.

flights also used to be considered a priveledge and didn’t include hours in the security line and at the terminal, ridiculous flight delays, and baggage fees that made you reconsider checking a bag.
the tradition of dressing up for games has stuck around with some people. I’ve never even worn a tie to a game and don’t have the desire. I just don’t understand what the problem is with anyone questioning why somebody else is wearing a suit to a game while he/she is wearing a windbreaker.
