Report: Vick Taking Leave of Absence (Update: Goodell to Vick - Skip Training Camp)
Uncategorized July 23rd. 2007, 10:55pm
Have the feds scared Vick into hiding? An Atlanta TV station is reporting that the Falcons QB is set to take a leave of absense. Nothing from ESPN, SI, Yahoo, etc yet.
[*Update: Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is now reporting that commish Roger Goodell has told Vick not to attend Falcons training camp.]

For the sake of the team, Vick needs to take a leave of absence. The question is whether or not the Falcons will pay him.

Nice work getting the scoop as always, Big Lead! One of the many reasons why we love you…
Blank was probably going to suspend Vick anyways. Perhaps they worked out a deal so he could at least save some face by volunteering for a LOA.

Nothing on the Atlanta-Journal Constitution website yet either. So far its only been the local Fox Station.

Translated, this LOA actually means, “you will go away, and now. Do not pass go, do not collect your bonus for showing up to camp on time. You may, or may not come back, but it’s entirely up to us; you have no say in the matter. Oh, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

Hey, at least he’s got Allen Iverson in his corner. That’s a good thing, right?

The Falcons have some big decisions to make, now-I mean, do they seriously think about letting Vick go? He hasn’t been convicted in a court of law, but the heat from PETA and angry fans may cause them to make a knee jerk move. There was already questions about Mr. Mexico’s behavior before any of this dog stuff came up. And if they do cut him loose, that means starting over from scratch, because Joey ain’t gonna cut it.

Vick could give two shits about that team.
Old Mike has got to be feeling the world closing in. Keep AC Cowlings away from him.

Not quite breaking the story, but getting it out there before the big fish is a nice accomplishment. Nice work.

Joey Harrington must be sharting himself right now.

Just by themselves the charges are horrible, but the baggage they carry is worse. I’ve read a lot of quotes, such as the Leroy Butler link on TBL, from hurt and confused kids. Pretty much everyone detests dog fighting. This cuts across all sorts of barriers…age, gender, etc. I have no idea what the Man has on Vick as far as evidence, but a possible trial could be pretty lurid. Any more info on state charges??

Wait… hold on… he gets to skip training camp and get paid? Ookie is taking a massive bong hit and saying, “Fuck yeah, I told you all this would work out fine. No 100 degree running around and learning plays bullshit. I’m getting paid for doing nothing. Who’s at da door…?”

Vick will never play another down in the NFL.

Seriously, when can KSK put up its “Offseason adventures of Ookie episode 9: paid leave…”?

Vick will definitely play again. I don’t think he will this year but he sells too many tickets and has too much marketability to not be back. I’m from DC and I know Dan Snyder would jump at the chance to have a guy like Vick if he became available. Leonard Little killed a person and he got back in the NFL. This will die down over time, not saying it should but it will.

Chris - What leads you to possibly believe Vick will play again?
Leonard Little indeed killed someone. But this was years ago, when the NFL didn’t have 50 faces on the front of USA Today for getting arrested. The timing is all wrong for Vick.

TBL — Still the question remains….when will Woody Paige be taking his leave of absence. Sorry….I must’ve forgotten again. SPORTSWRITERS PROTECTING SPORTSWRITERS. We must all beg those megalomaniacs’ forgiveness…….

Methinks Vick will play again.
I offer this.. Vick does not play a down this year. He gets out of jail 2 years from today. Al Davis* makes a pitch.
This is how it will be.
*Al Davis has been dead for four years. Al Davis is merely a bunch of baboons thowing feces at the legend that is Al Davis and justifying it as rebuilding.

Anyone agree that Michael Vick should actually be HONORED for killing pibulls? By the way, I belong to PETA…..People Eating Tasty Animals.
July 24th, 2007 at 4:08 am
Loaditup makes a good point. Killing a pitbull is tantamount to murdering a shark. Don’t confuse a pitbull with a poodle, PETAfreaks….

Vick’s going on a little vacation. He’ll be back, trying to play in the NFL in 5 years, at which point his legs will be plenty fresh. But somebody in their early 30’s isn’t as fast as somebody in their 20’s, and then Vick will have to play the role of the passing QB.
His return to the NFL will last about 3 weeks into training camp in 2012.

TBL, it really depends on how the case settles but I would honestly be shocked if Vick didn’t play another down in the NFL, people will stay pay to see him play no matter what.
