Tonight ESPN2 has the undefeated Cincinatti Bearcats hosting West Viriginia. Cincy continues to impress despite the fact that they lost their starting quarterback Tony Pike to injury after a 6-0 start. At the time of his injury, Pike was completing 64 percent of his passes for more than 1600 yards, 15 scores and just 3 picks. Pretty good.

Of course, sophomore Zach Collaros stepped in and promptly made Pike look like a novice. Collaros has thrown for 948 yards, 8 TD and just zero picks in his first three starts. He’s completed 80 percent of his passes since becoming the starter. A lot of the credit is going coach Brian Kelly’s way. Rightfully so.

He seems to have built a program that you or I – OK, maybe not you – could step in and run efficiently. Before last year, the Bearcats hadn’t had a 10-win season since 1949. Now they’re ranked #5 in the nation. Of course, now his name is being mentioned in Notre Dame rumors. I guess no matter how much success you have, someone is always going to pull you down. Poor guy.

Of course, if you’d rather watch the NBA, ESPN has a double-header featuring the Celtics @ Hawks and Lakers @ Nuggets. Both games feature the top team in the conference visiting the team with the 3rd best record in the conference. That’s a pretty neat coincidence, eh?

Small sample size alert! Carmelo Anthony is averaging career bests in points, 3pt%, steals and FT% this season.

So sit down and watch some sports. Rest up because there’s a big night of violence tomorrow.
