Blake Lively on a GG Monday … easily the best Megan Fox profile we’ve read … here’s a heckuva sex ed class … armed border guards make first kill – a moose … Dallas police officer Joe becomes officer Debbie after sex change … idiot Alaskan needs money to pay parking ticket, robs his mom at gunpoint … really, really drunk at the Sonic drive-through window …
Another glowing Bill Simmons piece in the paper of record. (NYT)
Michelle Wie won her first LPGA tournament. About damn time. (AP)
Devin Ebanks, one of the best players in the Big East, mysteriously didn’t play in the team’s season opener last night. Huggins called it a “personal issue.” (Gazette)

That would be total chaos. Good chaos.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Extremadura should be pleased with itself,” sniped Pilar Rahola,
That was a funny way to end that sex ed article.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:17 am
That was the strangest music in that highlight reel for Baylor. Their win over Hartford got laid out like the final scene in the Natural.
Plus, his foot was on the line. I don’t know if that mattered, and I’m not looking up a Hartford/Baylor score.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:27 am
I hope thats after paying the training staff/agents/hangers on etc.
For the brain damage to come thats bullshit money.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:27 am
Total Yankee organization story plant. Never, ever happen.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:28 am
guess everyone was up really, really late watching the game?
November 16th, 2009 at 8:31 am
Either that or everyone’s afraid that guy who told Tony Dungy, Peyton Manning and all Midwest residents to go fuck themselves is going to come back.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:32 am
I watched WWII in HD last night. I’m done with the NFL
November 16th, 2009 at 8:34 am
that guy went off the deep end, but he seemed like a Pats fan.
I was so wired after that, I had my head on my pillow, thinking about the ramifications of that series of events.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:35 am
The two bowl projections I’ve looked at this morning, both have a two-loss Iowa (assumes they beat Minnesota) in a BCS bowl. Maybe I’m being a homer, but I loved the way Iowa’s red-shirt freshman QB looked against OSU. He could be the starter next season over the senior Stanzi.

For the brain damage to come thats bullshit money.
Pacquaio got the money, Cotto got the brain damage.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:36 am
When does TBL chime in with a bowl projections post?
November 16th, 2009 at 8:37 am
I’m just catching up on TBL after Dark, and that was some epic rage on that post. Someone needs to watch something less dramatic like the LPJA or something.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Depends on which bowl is selecting…Fiesta would pick Iowa, but Orange would pick Penn St.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Irish, NBA question then, not your team though. WTF in New Orleans? They dumped Byron Scott in a thinly veiled cost cutting measure, and now they might deal Okafor for an expiring contract, after they picked him up to save a little money already?
How bad is that franchise’s financial situation, ya think?
November 16th, 2009 at 8:40 am
Other than the Tampa Bay game in 2003 and the Texans game last year, I can’t remember a game where a confluence of events had to take place in order for the Colts to win. I don’t really think Belichick made the “wrong” call, but I’d like to remember what happened on that third and two. If Belichick knew he was going to go for it on fourth down, why not run it on third? I know the Colts came with a blitz, but I can’t remember if they showed it or not or if Brady would’ve been able to check to a different run if so. Big play by Melvin Bullitt coming up on Faulk and not letting him catch it clean.
Kevin Faulk is one hell of a player, that’s for sure. Biggest play in the game probably wasn’t the Belichick going for it, it was Maroney fumbling into the end zone. I’m also wondering what the hell’s going on with Manning’s throwing hand. When’s the last time two passes just slipped out of it? One going directly into the ground, one up in the air sidewdays and down into a Pats DB’s hands.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:41 am
we’re saving football talk, right? Because who the fuck is Trent Dilfer, and how many years am I supposed to believe he’s been “studying” the NFL.?
November 16th, 2009 at 8:44 am
Shin has never had big pockets, and New Orleans is the worst market in the NBA. The Hornets should be in OKC, not the Sonics. Sad thing is that Shin will never, EVER give up the franchise, so he’ll just go ruin another market for the NBA.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:44 am
i was making the statement based on the big bandage wrapped completely around the dudes head. guess he’s fine. He won’t be stumbling around LA with his trainer trying to find their car someday.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:44 am
and now they might deal Okafor for an expiring contract, after they picked him up to save a little money already
I dont know about picking Okafraud up to save money. He is signed until 2014 and owed big money
November 16th, 2009 at 8:45 am
Screw Trent Dilfer and all this Monday morning analysts criticizing the best coach of the salary cap era. The guy had a great defensive gameplan that worked for 3.5 quarters, until the Colts found some creases and the Pats ran out of healthy defensive linemen. Belichick figured if he punts, Manning scores from 60 yards out and drains the clock. He figures if he doesn’t get it, the Colts score and he gets maybe a minute to come back with a field goal. Plus, he has about an 80 percent success rate on fourth and short and the Colts’ short-yardage defense is terrible. I think he made the right call, and he even had the right play, Melvin Bullitt just hit Faulk at the right time and he couldn’t get clear possession of it. I think it was the right call. Belichick has balls of steel and can coach my team anyday.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Quote of the weekend from angry Pats guy aka Recc40.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:46 am
He had some cauliflower ear from the fight he had to get drained, which was why the bandage.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:46 am
Is the Old Gray Lady trying to become Vanity Fair?
Jerruh has been working for months now on having this fight at the Jones Mahal.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:46 am
The Pats weren’t going for it on fourth down. They were getting it on third down, to Welker, and that was the game. I can’t believe that play didn’t work.
If you ask any Pats fan, game on the line, and the ball is thrown to Kevin Faulk, they’d guarantee victory. That guy has been underestimated by teams for years and years. He makes Troy Brown seem unreliable.
Belichick obviously knew that 30 yards or 80 yards, if he gave Manning the ball, they were losing. He tried to win the game, and they even completed the pass. Unbelievable. The timeout thing is bizarre though.
I wish it were more significant how Manning baited Belichick into wasting a challenge in the first half, but it’s not.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:47 am
Yes, but he was due less this year than Chandler…so Shin saved a couple of bucks this year, and the Bobcats got rid of his long term contract. God I hate both Shin and Johnson…easily the 2nd and 3rd worst owners in the NBA.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:47 am
I was wondering the same thing, there were 2 passes before the 2 that you mention, that wobbled like wounded geese coming out of his hand.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:48 am
I dont know about picking Okafraud up to save money. He is signed until 2014 and owed big money
It was for “working capital,” because he made 2 million per year less than Chandler. At least that’s what was reported then.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:49 am
What’s weird is the Pats ran that same exact play to Welker to ice the game in 2007. He beat Kelvin Hayden on a quick out and got up and yelled, “You fucking suck!” right in his face. Last night, a rookie CB jumped the route and nearly took it back the other way. Sometimes, you do the fucking, sometimes it fucks you.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:50 am
Here’s something for mrejr from the Panthers write up
Now that’s just fucking sad…
November 16th, 2009 at 8:53 am
I fuckin’ loved that move my Manning in the 1st half. I’ve got to believe that the day Peyton retires, some smart owner gives him the keys to at least an NFL team’s offense if not as the HC.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:55 am
tbl – can you get the number on ppv buys from saturday’s fight? having watched via the internets i am curious what the “real” number is.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:01 am
The final TD pass to Wayne was pretty damn pretty.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:06 am
What’s weird is the Pats ran that same exact play to Welker to ice the game in 2007.
They’ve iced dozens of games with that route combo. That’s Brady’s best ball, the quick out (other than the bomb to Moss, of course).
But at some point, just like you know the holes in the Cover 2, you know what play New England is going to run to get a first down. So that rookie corner breaks that play up, and Bill Belichick gets his balls out, and shows them off.
Sanders, tell me this. Is Jim Caldwell even alive?
November 16th, 2009 at 9:07 am
Wonder how that cameraman is. He got fucking tossed to the turf.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:10 am
dirt = Bill Simmons
November 16th, 2009 at 9:11 am
I don’t know, but I wasn’t very impressed with his performance in this game. The Colts seemed really jittery, even though I realize they have about seven first- and second-year backups thrust into starting spots. But they were all sorts of misaligned in the first half. How do you end up with single-safety coverage on Moss all the way down the field? I mean, isn’t that the EXACT thing you spend all week scheming to avoid? They did better after halftime, but that secondary has some holes that can’t be patched even when Hayden comes back. Robert Mathis saved their ass last night.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:12 am
herd – wouldn’t even begin where to look, but i’ll see what i can do
November 16th, 2009 at 9:13 am
They’ll release those PPV buy numbers later today or early tomorrow, I believe. It’s usually a pretty big story.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:13 am
dirt = Bill Simmons
sad isn’t it. I can’t believe I did that either. I did it last night too, because i said “belichick face” and laughed.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:22 am
thanks tbl. i figured with your inside connects you would have something.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:46 am
tearing an MCL needs only 6-8 weeks for recovery? I’m guessing that meant to say months?
November 16th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Weirdest thing about the NY Times, they abbreviate NFL and NBA N.F.L and N.B.A. It’s quite odd to see.
November 16th, 2009 at 10:51 am
no big ten team should sniff a bcs bowl. they are terrible. they would get destroyed against any of the top 8 teams right now. iowa and psu would lose by 40 to any of those teams
November 16th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
an mcl tear doesn’t require surgery. an ACL tear is the “you’re screwed for the year” knee problem.
