Ballin’: Dirk Nowitzki is Clutch
NBA, Video November 17th. 2009, 10:40amDallas 115, Milwaukee 113: Difficultly on Dirk’s game-winner? 8.5. Brandon Jennings was “held” to 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds two nights after exploding for 55. He forced a fadeaway triple with :03 left in regulation. It was an airball. Then, Dirk won it. Guy who surprised us: Ersan Ilyssova, a mask-wearing forward who scored 19 points and collected 12 rebounds off the bench.
Portland 95, Atlanta 99, OT: The Hawks ended the Blazers’ 6-game winning streak as Joe Johnson scored 35 points. Atlanta has the best record in the East (9-2), which ties Phoenix for best in the league. In a rematch of the big men from 2007 NCAA title game, Al Horford had 15-10 in 37 minutes; Greg Oden tallied 11-7 in 34 minutes. This clutch shot by Rudy Fernandez forced OT.
Charlotte 91, Orlando 97: Awkward openings – Rashard Lewis, finally on the court with his steroid-suspension lifted, shot 4-for-15. Stephen Jackson, traded from Golden State to Charlotte earlier in the day, shot 4-for-14. Stan Van Gundy hasn’t had his complete arsenal at his disposal yet (Marcin Gortat missed this game with the flu), but the Magic are still 8-3. Player to watch: JJ Redick, who opened the season playing big minutes (between 19-44 in the first 10 games, when he averaged 10 ppg), only got off the bench for six measly minutes last night.
Allen Iverson: The Grizzlies and AI “mutually” agreed to dissolve their resolution. He played in three regular season games. Can we call that an annulment? The most likely destination appears to be New York, where he can be a gun-for-hire and maybe put a few people in the stands.

iverson to the knicks obviously paves the way for lebron’s arrival

Vince hit a huge 3 with 53 seconds left to give Orlando a 6 point lead. Vince had 15 points. Jameer had a good game with 16 points, 5 assists and just 2 turnovers.
JJ Redick, who opened the season playing big minutes
because Vince was out with his ankle injury

there’s quite a bit of evidence to support this movement. i, for one, endorse it.

Dirk’s a badass for sure. I love his game.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:49 am
I love Dirk’s awkward jumping celebration when he runs to meet his teammates at the bench. Classic Dirk.

People scoffed at me when I said the Hawks were going to win 50 games this year.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:52 am
how about Drew Gooden on that Mavs game winner. That guy just knows where to be.
Love Dirk. If Dallas can’t swing a deal in this season to get significantly better, though, I’m all for him jumping ship. He’s my favorite player ever.

NYT bball writer says Iverson not going to knicks (via twitter), they are just being nice to his agent by letting these rumors fly
November 17th, 2009 at 10:54 am
Haha that’s hilarious, I didn’t notice him the first couple times around.

People scoffed at me when I said the Hawks were going to win 50 games this year.
I didn’t scoff at that. I scoffed at Jersey when he decided that Memphis had the talent to win 50.
Hi Jersey! You once again backed the wrong horse.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:58 am
fixed*
November 17th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Not trying to pile it on Jersey, but wasn’t he trying to convince everyone that the Jets were going to go 12-4 or 11-5 the day after beating the Patriots?
November 17th, 2009 at 11:04 am
way to go out on a limb. a young team that almost won 50 last year and added a 20 pt scorer is going to win 3 more games?
November 17th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Who scoffed? I think most of the commenters here were high on the Hawks, and vehemently disagreed with TBL when he said they would miss the playoffs.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:09 am
at least the hawks played well last year in the playoffs…..
November 17th, 2009 at 11:10 am
More bad news for the Lakers. The Son of Walton is now out.
That means our bench is going to rely on….Sasha Vujabitch!
November 17th, 2009 at 11:15 am
I believe it was 13-3…
November 17th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Dirk Nowitzki is Clutch
Beating the Bucks in November really doesn’t make him clutch. Have him do it April/May against the Spurs or Lakers, then we’ll talk.
That means our bench is going to rely on….Sasha Vujabitch!
this is already giving me the sweats.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:17 am
you mean like his absolutely beastly run through the spurs, including a classic game 7 where he dominated, in 2006?
/only to have the mavs rightful title ripped from them by salvatore and d-wade…just sad…dirk was THE MAN that spring and you know it
November 17th, 2009 at 11:22 am
bennett salvatore is clutch
November 17th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Michael, you have got to be kidding. In the future, maybe don’t talk when you have no clue.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:35 am
I have to be kidding? Um, how did Mr MVP and his team do against the Warriors as the 1 seed in ‘07?
One great playoff series doesn’t make one “clutch”.
And dirtheavy, what exactly do I have no clue on?
November 17th, 2009 at 11:39 am
a lot of things, but keep talking, it’s entertaining.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:40 am
Michael – I believe that this was your statement.
This was the reply. Asked and answered. I guess it’s time to talk.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Michael, tell me who the Spurs lost to in last year’s playoffs. And tell me only that.
Also, do you think he didn’t play in the other rounds of that playoff year? Against Phoenix, he didn’t contribute in the conference finals?
November 17th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Alright, I guess I’ll go away. Thanks.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:48 am
nothing on the weak celebration by the Mavs? Ya’ll beat the Bucks. congrats
November 17th, 2009 at 11:50 am
me and Irish must be enemies, and I don’t realize it, because he’s killing my team. Dallas has to celebrate against the bad teams, Irish, because they’re not built to beat the good teams. The way they’re set up right now, the only thing they can do is dangle Dampier’s wacky contract at New Orleans or Toronto. They can’t contend.
That shot was money though.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:51 am
A buzzer beater is still a buzzer beater. Celebration is warranted, regardless of opponent… at least in the NBA.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Bucks had a better record than the Magic before last night’s games started.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:57 am
agreed wally, thats not the first time i’ve seen someone make a comment like that. what do you expect them to hit a buzzer beater and walk off solemnly and ashamed because they should have won by more?
November 17th, 2009 at 11:57 am
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
November 17th, 2009 at 11:58 am
Jerry Stackhouse contributed much more that series by breaking Joe Johnsons face.

Jerry Stackhouse contributed much more that series by breaking Joe Johnsons face
different year, YYSA. That was the year Dallas lost to Phoenix in the semis and Phoenix undermanned lost to the Spurs.
It was ugly though. Joe Johnson had no recollection of shooting those free throws, either.

Bucks had a better record than the Magic before last night’s games started
and now they are 3 games behind us

playoffs, i can understand
