Mets Setting Their Eyes on Joel Pineiro
1-liner, Baseball November 18th. 2009, 1:00pm
Citi Field Savior: “The Mets, in search of an innings-eater to stabilize their rotation, are particularly intrigued by free-agent righthander Joel Pineiro, according to a team insider.” Classic Mets here. Intrigued by a starting pitcher who’s last winning record before this past season was in 2003. But he’s durable! So are Toyota Corollas and trash cans. No thanks. Of all the stats they could dangle for Mets fans, they included this gem — “His worst 2009 start came at Citi Field on Aug. 4, when he allowed seven runs on 11 hits in five innings.” Consider that an official warning to the Flushing faithful. Picking up ex-Cards to solidify rotation is a bad idea.

Precisely. So great the Daily News would add that knowing it would make Mets fans crazy.

Joel Pinero’s other start at Citifield W 9.0, 1 hit and 2 walks. How about you expose all the stats before making an ridiculous claim? Had a 3.40 era last year and pitched 214 innings.
I would take Joel for 3 years 25 million right now. Hes not the end all be all but who the fuck is? Sign me up. Considering where the Mets rotation is right now we have to find guys like this to fill in. You can’t always get a Roy Halliday or Johan. (or CC or AJ)
I’ll also take Jason marquis for 1 year 8 million too while I’m at it too thank you

The stat about his shitty start at Citi Field is what the Daily News chose to point out. That’s what makes it so great. Glass is always half empty.
