Cheryl Tweedy, our favorite WAG, in honor of Thierry Honor’s Hand of God goal … sad and disturbing incident outside of Pittsburgh … and here’s an even worse story in Detroit … Arkansas police use taser on 10-year-old at request of her mom … disagree – love November! …. an eggo waffles shortage? … presented without comment: Language barrier grounds plane for two hours … sounds like a future doctor … there’s a cow in my swimming pool! … the Raiders won’t be going anywhere for a few years … crazy deer/bullet story in Delaware …
Yeah, Jon Gruden likes his cliches and the word ‘love,’ but the overall MNF product is better this season. (NYT, CBS Sports)

Derrick Rose is so upset with his play this season, that he’s not cutting his hair again until he starts dominating like he did last year. (Sun-Times)
A greatest boxer of all-time discussion? Sure. (SI)
Jimmy Johnson is dominating NASCAR. Why doesn’t anyone care? (St. Pete Times)
If Iverson signs with the Knicks, the good news is that he’s close to AC! Guy loves to gamble. (NY Post)
Kobe Bryant loves the funniest show on TV, the Office. (Twitter)
Sounds like Chris Webber’s Sacramento eatery has gone under. (CSTB)

Bobby Bowden isn’t really talking about the future … but his wife is. (USA Today)
Jason Maxiell thwarts Shannon Brown’s dunk attempt. Bitchin’ block.

@TBL – THanks for posting that cross-burning incident. I grew up there and it doesnt shock me. Hopefully something positive can come out of it.
November 19th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Tweedy is pure gold!!
November 19th, 2009 at 8:51 am
Tweedy is awesome, but nothing should ever be done ‘in honour’ of Thierry Henry.
/spells honour like the queen intended.

KNOWING that you got something at the grocery store, and then being unable to find it. i swear i bought OJ. im at the point where i want to fish the receipt out of the garbage and go back to the store and get my OJ
November 19th, 2009 at 9:01 am
up yours atldan…just kidding. i get the stereotype. no one gives a shit about jimmy johnson because hes vanilla. he has no personality and he dominates the same last 10 races every year so theres no chance of anyone else winning. im turned off by it.
nascar is a dying sport
November 19th, 2009 at 9:01 am
Yeah, her story is being pushed by some anti-vaccine zealots. I’ll see if I can find the link.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:02 am
f life.
just fished it out of the garbage … and the OJ is not on there. im losing my mind, people.
i remember carrying it to the checkout – i never get a cart. there wasn’t room in the hand carriage thing. must be karma. this is what i get for eating a donut in the store and forgetting to have them ring it up.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:03 am
That Detroit story was fucked up, but how do you not post this one?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:03 am
Anyone see this quote by Henry regarding the goal?
As much as I hate the guy, I do like his attitude towards it. Yeah, he got away with it and there’s no sense apologizing. I hate that the french benefited from it.

or like me yesterday when I get a gallon of milk w/ some groceries, open up my trunk, and milk is spilled all over the inside of the trunk, yet the thing is still sealed tight and the plastic is intact. It was somehow dripping out of the bottom of the sealed cap. My trunk smelled great by the time I could get to the car wash in the Florida heat.

no replay in soccer Battlin Billy?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:09 am
So this would be a good time to make a pitch for that regular hockey post three of us keep hoping for?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:09 am
I brought some alcohol to a friends house and my Seagrams vodka bottle smashed along the wall and spilled all over my truck. So My car still smells like vodka, and that was 6 months ago.

Nope. Further down in the article they mentioned how the referee had time and the opportunity to talk to the linesmen about the play as well. He didn’t do that either. Granted, the linesmen also missed the fact that there was an offsides on the same play…
basically, it was a huge clusterfuck from all of the officials.

i thought it was a bit much that she regained her normal functions when she ran forward or walked backwards but when she walked forward she went into convulsions.
my bullshit detector began to warm up at that point.
guess she can now forget about being a redskins cheerleader?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:13 am
Exact same thing happened to me last Aug (2008), and it wasn’t until this past summer and at least 4 shampoos that my car stopped smelling on warm humid days.

If you want hockey posts, you’re going to have to email links. preferably to stories that aren’t already in major circulation

Lucky me! lol
The only “good” thing is it was my late Mom’s car that I was driving, and was just taking it for it’s monthly drive. My “regular” car has a cargo tray in it (first car that ever had it, and after yesterday, will make sure I always will)
irish: just reading Buffalo news. Bills signed Brian Brohm off Packers practice squad to a TWO YEAR deal (not very common). Also said they are gonna meet w/ Shanny (can’t believe he’d go there)
November 19th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Nah, I was just being facetious… I do enjoy the hockey posts every now and then, but I’m not one that is going to beg for them.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:18 am
now we wont feel guilty for wanting to nail her
November 19th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Gods – i was reading that earlier. If that was me and he talked about my relative like that I would’ve punched him right in his fat face and lost my scholarship.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:19 am
I know no one cares about Jimmie Johnson, but what he has done can be argued both ways. It is definitely a great achievement, really one of the best in all of sports. However, the 10 race tracks they get to run every year in the chase are 10 of his best so this deal fits him to a T.
IMO, Nascar should randomly draw the 10 chase tracks that will host the chase two years or so in advance ( however long they need to setup the logistics and planning ). This would eliminate being good at the 10 tracks they run now and would bring a whole new mix into the chase since you wouldn’t really know what tracks would be involved. I know some tracks would be cold right now to run, but as long as it wasn’t raining they could make it work ( they could run those tracks in cold areas earlier in the chase ). Until they do this Johnson may win this thing every year. They are just awesome at those tracks that are in the chase.

is?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:22 am
I’ve only gotten one flu shot ever. It’s like playing russian roulette right now. Fun stuff in an otherwise boring life.
/ also doesn’t look both ways before crossing the street.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:22 am
Some of that shit was just dumb to say. How does making fun a kid’s brother being shot help the team? Or rip a dude whose dad is an alcoholic? Fat fuck should be fired for stupidity.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:22 am
preferably unique, off-the-radar stories like who’s gonna get the Notre Dame coaching job and the state of Michigan football.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:23 am
eh it takes physical exertion to drive those cars. its not your sunday stroll.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:23 am
johnnyb..or get rid of the chase
November 19th, 2009 at 9:24 am
As long as he doesn’t pretend that he went to ND.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:26 am
But if he did, do you think he’d apologize?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:26 am
I don’t get them, but is has far more to do with laziness than it does with fear. I also (knock on wood) have not had the flu since I was 10.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:27 am
irish: just reading Buffalo news. Bills signed Brian Brohm off Packers practice squad to a TWO YEAR deal (not very common)
unconfirmed by the team. He would have a better chance to play in Buffalo than GB. cant blame him. His college center is the Bills center.
Re Shanahan
I’ll take him
November 19th, 2009 at 9:28 am
Great National Geograhpic video – keep those coming.
The thing is NASCAR is only partially about the best driver. If you have a sweet team like he does have at Hendrick it eliminates half the field (sound familiar MLB?). He got 70% of his car set up advice from Gordon’s team – who OWNs a big chunk of JJ’s car. So there is more conflict of interest there. Right now NASCAR is a boring product, so excitement is down, and JJ has the personality of a turd sandwich. He’s a nice guy but T.S.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:28 am
Fat fuck should be fired for stupidity.
It appears today the hammer drops.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:28 am
I’ve gotten the flu shot twice. Once when I was young and again when Clear Channel essentially forced me to get one before I was hired.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:29 am
both times i got a flu shot i got sick as fuck. fuck that noise.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:31 am
I don’t think it’s necessarily a conflict of interest. Those guys share set-ups, like all teams do, but they’re just better at figuring out what works. I think JJ’s been better than Gordon lately because he has a much better crew chief.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:32 am
Is there even a remote chance ND would go for Harbaugh?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:33 am
Ohlmeyer finally comments on the whole Steve Phillips fiasco.
/do people still care about this?
November 19th, 2009 at 9:35 am
Violations for the South Florida basketball program?
He was going to come to MD before all that shit went down.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:35 am
I’ve only ever gotten a flu shot once a number of years ago. Been able to avoid the flu most years, but the swine got me a couple of weeks ago. I think I slept for two days straight.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:35 am
I got both flu shots this year, the regular and H1N1. I walk the same as I did before. I hadn’t gotten it in years, the regular one.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:35 am
I thought it was a good column.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:36 am
i just find it shitty that hendrick has 2 shops instead of one. theres always a shitty hendrick car every year and i believe this is part of it.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:39 am
Flu Shots are simply a vehicle for a government mind control agent, suckers.
/Internet’d
November 19th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Battlin Billy – I just read the Ohlmeyer piece and was going to ask TBL if a separate thread on that is coming???
The Ohlmeyer piece is A WORTHLESS SUBMISSION. To me it answers nothing. Did he even break any ground there? He adds quotes from ESPN VP’s – but nothing from independent media commenters? What a joke. To me, the Ohlmeyer hiring is a complete FAIL. Atrocious.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:40 am
ill, heath was? consider it a blessing in disguise. he set Arkansas basketball back about 25 years when he was here. not only with his bland style of basketball (which i can deal with if you win) but some of his coaching strategies are just off the wall. my favorite was when he saved his players so they would have “fresh legs” to face memphis in the second round of the tournament. we lost to bucknell in the first round. he is not a good coach.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Really? He’s a very good coach in terms of talent development, but this is going to set him back a ways. He will have a very hard time recruiting. I’d take him as an offensive coordinator at UGA though.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:43 am
This has been known for some time. Speaking of assholes, go check out Whitlock’s article in the KC Star today.
I thought it was a good column.
Gods
Comparing a coach berating a football player to rape? Rubbed me wrong.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:44 am
Nods, logs onto inforwars, unzips pants
November 19th, 2009 at 9:44 am
Gods – It is snowballing on him now. I don’t see how he can stay. I liked the fat fuck for giving us a couple years of decent football, but he’s lost the team and like you said, recruiting will be impossible.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:53 am
He was saying that the rationale of “so and so asked for it was similar,” not the act itself. At least that’s how I read it.
I had no idea he was such a hardass. I saw him rip a player a new one last year after he did a slight celebration after a punt return, but I loved that. If what was in the article by ESPN is true, he’s got to go.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:53 am
It seems to be unraveling for you TBL. Better fire Duffy.
/couldn’t hurt
November 19th, 2009 at 9:53 am
they are crazy – read the latest Wired
I have a 2 year old and the conversations we have had with her doc about to get or not to get the vaccines are lively discussions. He verbally destroys the anti vaccine crowd.
We get them all for the seed.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:54 am
@ark – not Heath, Gus Gilchrest, the (one of?) the recruits involved in this fiasco.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:57 am
Here’s the first clue that nobody cares: His name is Jimmie.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:58 am
RE: flu shots
just recovered from the swine flu. it sucked. not as bad as the media made it out to be, but i’m not a child or a pregnant woman, just a healthy guy in my twenties so i just felt lousy for 5 days.
getting my season shot in 5 days though. Doc told me i’m still able to catch that bug and it will be worse than swine.
November 19th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Yeah, but do you remember how boring it was before. I mean, Matt Kenseth won a championship under the old format. He is as boring as it gets!
Your right to an extent. You have to have good equipment and more then anything good engineering. The amount of money put into research every year is what seperates Hendrick from some of the other teams. However, Gibbs and even Waltrip have so much support from Toyota that money isn’t a problem. Hendrick is a great guy, people love him and they want to work for him. In turn he hires the best people. It doesn’t hurt to have arguably two of the best drivers in the sport and another who is a top 5 driver all time. THEN have the top earner and most popular driver in the sport to bring in revenue.
Knaus will go down as the greatest crew chief ever. But Johnson should also get more attention, because he will be a top 5 driver when its said and done. He just doesn’t do anything in the press wrong and he always says all the right things. To think he grew up in a trailer park and now earns over 20 mil a year…
I agree, they always do. But Earnhardt isn’t THIS bad. He and Martin basically share info the same way Gordon and Johnson do. However Martin will be second in points and Jr is twenty something. I don’t think Jr can get used to the COT and may never. Who knows, maybe a fresh start with a new crew chief next year will land him back in the chase.
November 19th, 2009 at 10:10 am
I’m convinced JohnnyB is Paolo.
November 19th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Now that I know that she’s faking it, I don’t feel so bad for laughing at this:
href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPgMo_l_cis”>
November 19th, 2009 at 10:21 am
it didn’t seem like the doctor said she was faking it. it seemed like he was saying that it was in her head, not a direct reaction from the flu shot
November 19th, 2009 at 10:24 am
Not a chance…johnnyB talked about NASCAR with nary a bojack, redneck, or personal attack involved.
/remember my first paolo incident
