Kevin Garnett Pretty Sure of Boston’s Ability to Bully The Magic
NBA November 21st. 2009, 9:00amInterestingly enough, for the remaining two minutes and 53 seconds after those witty, Phil Mushnick-pleasing remarks, KG and his uninspired pack of bullies failed to score another point.
Vincenzo Carter, a newcomer to this blooming rivalry who I thought would offer nothing but softness during crunch time, scored 10 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, including a tiebreaking fadeaway jumper to put the Magic up for good.
If the Celtics were in the beastly Southeast, they’d be in third place.
Thanks to reader Pete A. for grabbing the video.

I logged on to my bank this morning to do a little online bill pay, and there was a new disclaimer on the login page:
As of November 30th all Internet gambling transactions conducted with your Passumpsic Savings Bank Debit Card will be prohibited. This change is necessary in order for our financial institution to comply with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
My bank is teeny-weeny, and usually the first to comply with any rules, just FYI.

As for KG and the Celts. They’re going to make a lot of noise, but they’re not going to bring any funk in the long run.
November 21st, 2009 at 9:08 am
That blows, Dirt.

KG is the bomb. Favorite hoops player ever.
Anyone watching the Man City v Liverpool match?
November 21st, 2009 at 9:13 am
It doesn’t blow for me, because I don’t gamble online. But it might blow for others if that rule gets enforced on a wider scale.
BTW, thanks for putting up a post this morning. TBL said yesterday you weren’t working.

Awww, I haven’t wagered all season and was just thinking about reloading the account for the bowl season/NFL playoffs…the biggest bullshit there is that this isn’t about any sense of morality from the government, they’re just pissed that all that most of that money is going overseas
If they’d just get wise and legalize gambling this wouldn’t be a problem and would be big business for the US…like Jimmy the Greek said 95% of betting in this country is small change, banning it is like criminalizing alcohol just because of the percentage that become addicted to it

Fuck KG.

It’s 9:21 and Michigan STILL SUCKS.
/Run it up, Tress…

@Dirt: No problem, I’m trying to get at least few done before I head out.
November 21st, 2009 at 9:30 am
Thanks for the heads up Dirt. Probably save me money in the long run…

NBA TV had the rest of the timeout, and this is what Garnett said in addition:
“because of our high thighs that goes up our backs, and we can jump higher and run faster than the Magic. This goes back all the way to the old NBA when the owner Red— the owner learned it was pointless to keep a half a team of honkies.”

Then he punched Musberger in the face.
November 21st, 2009 at 9:45 am
And then JJ Reddick penned a poem about wishing everyone could get along and enjoy their game without this drama.

I was just reading the Wikipedia page on the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, because it seemed old. Turns out Dec 1 of this year was always the implementation date.
There was one guy standing in the way in the Congress, trying first to get this dropped, and then to get it delayed by one year. He seemed to be a champion of this cause for some reason. Believe it or not, it was Barney Frank. If I had been guessing, I probably would have had him somewhere near 430th amongst my guesses.

You know what blows? Getting a week of vacation for Thanksgiving and waking up with a cold on the first day.
November 21st, 2009 at 10:03 am
Hit it early with some bourbon… The cold won’t want to stick around for long…

His partner works at a bank, so Frank has always been a protector of banks.

Plus, I’m going to visit the family today and watch the LSU game with them. I’m extremely cautiously optimistic. If we win today, my July/August prediction will be pretty much spot-on.
November 21st, 2009 at 10:09 am
I think Frank is also for the legalization of weed…he was in the car when his partner got cited (arrested?) For possession..
November 21st, 2009 at 10:12 am
no idea how the Magic won getting Dwight Howard only 4 shots. no wonder the big guy’s pissed off.
orlando looked strong and unafraid. like a title-caliber team.
why was Rondo benched at the end.

He’s publicly for the legalization and taxation of gambling, I know that. And weed, i’m pretty sure. The US Gov’t putting the penalties on the banks, and therefore the onus, is a big deal, because it allows the foreign companies that used to take gambling $$$ from here to come back in and take money with no repercussions. The fault will lie with the bank, who can easily pass all penalties on to the populace. It’s a lame law.

Rondo is 4-16 at the free throw line FOR THE YEAR right now. He is scared of contact and looked like it last night. I saw about 3 times where last year’s Rondo would have taken it to the rack and at least drawn contact. He wanted nothing to do with it.
Looks like shattered confidence.
November 21st, 2009 at 11:22 am
I said it at the beggining of the year, and I’ll say it again.
VC is criminally underrated in the clutch, much like Dirk.
November 21st, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Please don’t ever compare Vince with His Dirkness.
November 21st, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Vince has hit many big shots at the end of games. I’ve never really gotten the Vince hate with some.
November 21st, 2009 at 3:51 pm
