Oklahoma City 85, LA Lakers 101: Kobe hit that shot over backboard, Shannon Brown flew through the air to flush a one-handed dunk (video below), and the Lakers improved 10-3. We’re about 1/6th of the way through the season and the team that has impressed us most is the Lakers. They’re only now getting healthy. But Orlando has the size to match LA this year, and perhaps the scoring, too. Does Shannon Brown have better hops than Jordan? Kobe thinks so.

Boston 107, New York 105, OT: Smug KG had a terrible game, but it didn’t matter, because his jumper beat the buzzer. The Boston announcer who called the game-winner – name escapes us – used to call Big East games in the 1980s. He was great. Rondo was a rebound shy of a triple double; Paul Pierce had 33. Sorry Boston fans, had to do it – Celtics don’t have a marquee victory yet.

Orlando 104, Toronto 96: The Magic have won five in a row to reach 11-3. They haven’t lost since Rashard Lewis returned from his suspension. Also, they’re 2-0 this season against former teammate Hedo Turkoglu. Vince Carter had 24 and JJ Redick added 19. Things to keep an eye on: Dwight Howard’s shot totals, and playing time for Brandon Bass. Thanksgiving night: Magic at Hawks. If the tryptophan doesn’t get you, try and tune in.

Detroit 91, Phoenix 117: The 11-3 Suns shot 57 percent from the field and 61 percent (!) from three to rout the Pistons. How unbelievable have the Suns been so far? Lead the league in shooting, 3-point shooting, scoring, and they’re second in assists (Boston). Does this have the feel of a high seed losing in the first round because it doesn’t play defense? Sure. Next up: Memphis and Minnesota, which means 13-3, and probably a feature in SI or a massive spread in USA Today.

New Orleans 101, Miami 102: Udonis Haslem’s bank job with less than 20 seconds left won it for the Heat. Here’s a rookie to keep your eye on: Marcus Thornton of the Hornets. We mentioned him but the kid from LSU continues to blow up – he led the team with a career-high 24 points last night, including five 3’s. Will be interesting to see if he cracks the starting lineup when CP3 returns.
