Shakira … can’t pay college debt? Strip! … fun with headlines: “Obama’s Brilliant First Year” … speaking of politics: Tora Bora, Bush, Bin Laden failure … tardy, but RIP Abe Pollin … twitter billboard fail … and to think, Lawrence Summers is director of Obama’s economic council … is there a better general media columnist than David Carr? … the shooter in the Seattle police ambush shouldn’t have been on the streets … “marauding baboons” and the World Cup … man shoots roommate over a can of coke …
After nine years at UVA, Al Groh has been fired. Is this the 2nd best coaching opening in college football? (Daily Progress)
Best story of the college basketball weekend: the Portland Pilots. (CBS Sports)
St. Jetersburg sounds cool. If you talk to Minka Kelly, ask her about it. (Page 6)

In case you missed it late Saturday night, here’s a recap of the late USC TD pass that still has SoCal buzzing. (LA Times)

Mystery or not? All-American candidate Willie Warren didn’t play Saturday night for Oklahoma, and we can’t find any details beyond “coach’s decision.” (Oklahoman)

NASCAR TV ratings were pretty awful in 2009. (USA Today)
Squeezed out of Ballin’: T-Wolves 106, Nuggets 100 in one of the top five surprising NBA results this season. Minnesota had a 15-game losing streak. (Star Trib)

story with more staying power: White House party crashers, or Tiger?
November 30th, 2009 at 8:32 am
CRM: wait…it’s not real?! DAMN! Last time I believe something I see on the Internet!
TBL: Tiger. Possible sex scandal by the biggest athlete on the planet >>> two old white folks trespassing on federal property.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:33 am
Tiger, because the media will beat it into the ground.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:39 am
gonna disagree, BFF and Hawk.
Party crashers will be fodder for Republicans all week (security!) and there’s no way these two media whores don’t start doing the talk show circuit … Tiger’s not talking, and this is shaping up to be a big couple days in sports (good MNF, Vince Young hoopla, Weis an ND, SEC title game).
just a guess…
November 30th, 2009 at 8:39 am
add: this is the b10-acc challenge week, right?
November 30th, 2009 at 8:39 am
wtf are the White House party crashers?
November 30th, 2009 at 8:40 am
Squeezed out of Ballin’
No Ballin over the weekend? just something on how Dwight Howard sucks?
November 30th, 2009 at 8:41 am
They’ll only show up on the talk show circuit if they get the money they are demanding.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:41 am
Oklahoma is a big, fat mess.
I’m more interested in Tiger. I will do my best to avoid the party crashes. Some bitch from a Real Housewives show? Bleh.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:42 am
yes. i think i am leaning acc.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:43 am
Oh. They’re like Balloon Boy, but they went to the White House. What an interesting story.

Oh and I think Tiger’s people will be quick to silence all talk. They’ll pay the other woman with some nice STFU money and tell ESPN that, if they ever want Tiger on their sets again, they’ll ignore it like they ignored the Ron Mexico saga.
But just to compare it: I didn’t know about the WH party crashers until days afterwards. And while the GOP pundits would love to point and laugh at Obama, the fault lies not with his administration but with the Secret Service.
Anyone want to start talking trash about the Secret Service?
November 30th, 2009 at 8:49 am
let’s hope this is the only fuck up they have from here on out.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:51 am
Not many right wing hosts will blame this on Obama. Maybe Beck.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:52 am
Definitely check out his memoir, Night of the Gun. Dude was messed up for a LONG time.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:55 am
answer to earlier question: Tiger > Party Crashers
new post just went up due to new news that just emerged
November 30th, 2009 at 8:55 am
The crashers are a much bigger story. 2 completely uninvited, unscreened people got into a State Department dinner and had pictures taken with the President, VP, and other top US Government officials. The implications of this are overwhelming…
Guarantee that this will be attempted many more times over the next 6 months to a year. And the uniformed guards and the Secret Service will not take any other “crashers” lightly after being utterly embarrassed.

The Administration has already done a pretty good job on the CIA already

Big fuckin’ surprise. Now, if Littlepage would get canned, I’d be thrilled. He’s a (school president)John Casteen fave though, so we UVA fans will have to wait until Casteen leaves at the end of the academic year. Thank God for George Gelnovatch(men’s soccer), Dom Starsia(lacrosse), and Brian O’Connor(baseball); otherwise, there would be nothing to root for at Virginia(the jury is still out on Tony Bennett).
And yes, I follow college soccer, lacrosse, and baseball. More often than not, I find them more compelling than either football or basketball.
