Maybe Dennis Dixon Can Channel Vince Young
NFL November 29th. 2009, 8:15pm
The internets are still buzzing over that ridiculous 99-yard game-winning touchdown orchestrated by Vince Young that beat Matt Leinart (again). We’ll have some fun with that tomorrow. You know who kind of reminded us of Vince Young in college? Dennis Dixon. At times, he was the ideal dual threat at Oregon. Who could forget the Statue of Liberty fake against Michigan? Dixon’s first NFL start will come against a fierce Ravens defense that lacks some bite this season, but has should feast on a newbie on the road. We’ll predict Ravens 24, Steelers 13.

What do Vince Young and Dennis Dixon have in common? They’re both alarmingly athletic

November 29th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
well done, Butters
November 29th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Did anyone hear Hines Ward question Big Ben about not playing tonight? I thought that was a little odd.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Gun —-> Mouth
November 29th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
Well Hines Ward has the brain the size of a peanut and is classified as mentally retarded so he fears no multiple concussions.
/shithead
November 29th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
Vince Young just wins football games.
/obligatory’d
November 29th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Dennis Dixon does not look confident. I predict at least 3 INTs.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
lets go ray rice
November 29th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
He probably questioned why the guy was put on IR after he broke his jaw
November 29th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Why did i just laugh out loud at this name? Don’t be pissed if i change my name to ChipotleEater and have a giant turd as my avatar
November 29th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
ward has been a little bitch since roethlisberger said he needed a big receiver. Fuck that guy. Hes only good for running plays and the steelers cant run it anymore.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
Whose the back up to Dixon tonight? i have no clue
November 29th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
Hines Ward is one of the top five recievers in football for what he means to is team.

He hasn’t said a word on twitter since the game started…

Oh God. Not more “The Blind Side” shit.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
They do this shit to get the casual mother and daughter who went and saw the movie to tune in and watch this “Michael Oher” they saw in the movie and found do fascinating. Drinking game, drink 1 sip everytime you hear bling side and 5 times for “incredible story”
November 29th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Is it really so offensive to admit black guys (in the general) are more athletic than white guys (in the general)? Facts are facts. No white guy had a six pack in my sixth grade class, but black guys did.
/is it just penis envy?

The same school the people who took him in were boosters for.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
I’m sad the Blindside, which is actually a pretty great fucking book, is gonna be remembered for Sandra Bullock touching the lives of black children.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
If you read the (perhaps biased) book, the charity sure seems to come before the $$$$ opportunity and school.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Dennis Dixon’s dad is the late, great Willie Stargell?
November 29th, 2009 at 8:47 pm

November 29th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I really enjoyed reading the Blind Side…thought it was a better book than Moneyball.

Jay: Oher’s adoptive mom said he was going to go to LSU until Saban left. Of course who knows how honest that is.

November 29th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Indeed.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Sarcasm?
surely. I also liked the Blindside more as a book, but I like Moneyball more as the trophy for people who don’t get what its about.

I don’t ever remember hearing much about him during the recruiting process. That was the class where everybody was obsessed with Ryan Perrilloux. Doesn’t mean it’s not true. I’m just saying I follow LSU recruiting somewhat seriously, and I don’t remember him.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
dixons gonna have to throw the ball down the field at some point…
November 29th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Thanks N-dub
@jpq: I don’t think I’ve seen that live thing before. Pretty cool.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
There’s a great scene with Saban in the book (and apparently in the movie).
November 29th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I’ve never seen a blue blood program go bad this fast without some inner turmoil. And don’t blame it on losing people to the NBA, that shit happens in the ACC every year. UCLA should be loaded every year.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
Yeah, I remember in the book he pointed out the window dressings or something, which apparently was very impressive.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
she basically just wanted to fuck Saban in the book.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Even after Saban left, the Tuhley’s actively helped LSU in recruiting Oher because Cut had just gotten fired and it was an “anybody but Fulmer” situation.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Two great throws by Dixon, nice
November 29th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
dixon with his 1st td. Good job
November 29th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
There you go, Dennis Dixon.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
I don’t get it either. With as good a coach as Howland is, and the recruiting classes they’ve brought in, there’s no excuse for this.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
That was sharp.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Ike Taylor should open a bar called swaggurr. or swagguh. MGD’s for $5 all day, every day.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
but it’s not like some institutional bias causes the black guy dominating thing for penis size or athletic ability.
I’m not so sure. I’m going on the roof and turning the Darrell light on. He should be here in 10 minutes or so to clear this up.
Just in case he doesn’t show, this picture refutes your theory
November 29th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
I didn’t read the book or watch the movie. I am amazed that anybody halfway intelligent would have been snowed in by Coach O. He’s a good position coach but he’s a buffoon.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
@jpq: I don’t think I’ve seen that live thing before. Pretty cool.
hernia: TBL, SBB and PFT are the only places I really go anymore on a regular basis. He started that live thing a few months ago. Good later at night, due to the time difference

I’m watching a 89 rock n roll/minight express match awaiting the lady friend. Life is good.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
The Blindside is worth reading just for the explanations of the intro of the West Coast offense and Lawrence Taylor.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
TST, you’re starting to look like Paolo with consecutive posts.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
dixon knows when to throw the ball away…already better than sanchez
November 29th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
everybody left. I am sick. Still, I will carry his mantle of hatred and insanity. I may change my name to TSTPaolo.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Ha ha,. Whatever happened to Paolo?
November 29th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
TBL killed him. Then he killed himself. Charges are pending.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
impressive that the ravens are refusing to give their best player the ball
November 29th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Dammit, a typical Steelers/Ravens game. I was hoping Dixon wasn’t good and I could go to bed early.

Here are all the protected games.

Wrestling so so much better if you’re making a sport that you decide the endings of than when you make it a show that happens to have wrestling matches in it. I’m out night all.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Jay: I know there is a limit for number of times you can do it total. Don’t know about in a row though.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Jay: There’s a limit to number of times they can flex, plus a limit to # of games a single team can appear on (a la 2007 Pats). I think it’s 6, if I remember right. I would expect the Vikes to make all 6.
re: HBO: seeing Lou Reed do Sweet Jane w/ Metallica is pretty cool
November 29th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
As much as it sickens me to admit, the Vikings are having a great year BECAUSE of #4. He is having a great, MVP type season… likely his best season ever… thus is makes sense that the Vikings would be on TV a ton.
I don’t like it one bit, but we SHOULD be hearing more about Brett Favre.
/Ready to throw up now.
//Can’t wait for the will he/won’t he discussions that are guaranteed to come in February.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
wally – after 11 games last year, what was Minny?
November 29th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
TBL: 6-5
November 29th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Here’s hoping Tomlin/Arians take the kid gloves off in the 2nd half. If we have any chance of winning they have to let Dixon get out on the edge and make plays. Simply handing off for 2 plays and then maybe throwing it against an all out blitz won’t work.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
Really don’t want Dexter to end. So fucking good.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
6-5… And they were great on defense and had the best RB in the league. They couldn’t throw the ball. They had no WR’s and a terrible QB.
Favre has made a gigantic difference in their team. He is a different QB this year. Smart decisions. Virtually no gambler mentality throws. Dude has only thrown 3, count ‘em, 3 picks. He makes good decisions with the ball, but the Vikings have stuck with the run as their main source of offense.
/I hate the whole Favre saga.
//He’s having a ridiculously good season.
///I think the Vikings are the best team in the NFC right now.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
Favre is NFC MVP if he continues, even over my boy Brees. Brees playing like this was expected after his last two seasons, a 40 year old Favre having his best season by far was not.
That and The Bengals are the two biggest surprise stories this year (Chris Johnson and VY could be a 3rd, if they continue to win/rush for 2000 yards)
Really don’t want Dexter to end. So fucking good.
yeah, I rejoined Dexter this year after a Jimmy Smits sabbatical. I’m back. Glad I am.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
I’m glad someone else is saying all the Favre stuff (which is absolutely correct) because I’d probably get a bunch of eyerolls and bannings.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
o. thought Minny had a better record than that. guess the 10-6 record was mostly achieved late in the season.
i agree Favre has been good, i hope the wheels do come of, and i still think Chris Johnson of Tenn has been more impressive.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Dennis Dixon throws a great ball, he’s a hell of a lot better than anyone Cleveland has.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
In the last 5 weeks, he has been phenomenal. If Tennessee keeps winning and ends up 10-6 or 9-7, then Johnson has a great shot at MVP. However, they lost 6 in a row with him playing. The winning started when VY started playing…
Favre is leading the Vikes to things that even Favre apologists would not have expected… That is the definition of MVP.
And this, again, comes from a guy really tired of all Favre all the time who thought he was terrible in his last few years.
/Manning is still more valuable because he doesn’t have AP, but 18 is old news. 11-0 is just par for the course in Indy…
November 29th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Right now, I’d like to hear arguments against Favre being the MVP.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
i hate the fact they only do 13 episode seasons..its brutal
November 29th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
I can’t argue who’s been more impressive, except maybe that a 40yr old still standing upright/breathing thru week 12 is pretty impressive.
/coming from a chiefs fan that watched cassel hand off the ball to the charger defense for a rushing TD
//TBL sounds like a guy whose NFL team lost their QB to a more talented roster

November 29th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
oh, and as a chiefs fan, I’d rather have sanchez than cassel…and maybe even rex ryan instead of todd haley
November 29th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Hines Ward just abused Ed Reed after the catch for another 10 yards… The old man with the cheeeeesy smile gets the better of Reed.
/I fully expect Reed to get paybacks before the night is over.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Maybe not but they’re destroying the teams they’re supposed to. Average margin of victory in 10 wins is more than 2 TDs.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
getting in late on the hines ward BS, but his reasoning skills are questionable already and he’s not that old. He’s probably had more concussions that troy aikmen.
even as a sampling size of one, he shines a light on exactly what’s wrong with nfl players on concussions. it’s one thing to give a guy flack for a sore ankle, back or whatever…it’s a whole other for a concussion.
/and theyre all still idiots for wearing helmets that are 2 sizes to big…fucking idiots
November 29th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Trivia question for those still on here tonight…
With Lawrence Frank’s firing this weekend, name the 3 longest tenured coaches in the Eastern Conference…
November 29th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
People have said the Vikings were one piece away for two to three years. He is brought in AS that piece, and has played better than anyone thought he would.
There was more pressure on Favre this year than any player in the last I don’t know how many years. No one knew what to expect w/ age, injury/surgery, playing the Packers again, etc
PLus, Peyton’s won 3 of the last 6 MVP’s. Don’t act like he’s always overlooked. Peyton is just as deserving, but it wouldn’t be an injustice if Favre won it, that’s all. It would if Johnson did on a .500 team with the most experienced O-line in football.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Well, Packers are not bad. They do have 7 wins. Everyone else is pretty meh.

Holy cow… Close, but Cundiff has warning track power from 56…

Wow, great job by the Ravens to even get that field goal off. That is some really good coaching right there. Les Miles take note.

On a side note, Call of Duty 2 has done $3 billion worth of sales and the game has only been out 20 days.

My wife may divorce me by the end of this game. I’m definitely coming off like a raving lunatic.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Gods I think thats all Call of Duty games combined
November 29th, 2009 at 11:34 pm

I refuse to play online poker anymore. I’m not giving my bad beat story because everyone hates them, but good fucking god.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
Great point by Michaels. If Cundiff made that, Hochuli may have been suspended for the year. That was a HUGE miss by the officiating crew.
Hell, with the insanity of that last 30 seconds, I missed it too…

MW2 still made 500 million in its first week which is crazy
November 29th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
That’s all COD. Most recent one did over 550 million in first week though.

What site do you play on? I’ve played over 200,000 hands on full tilt. Let’s hear the story, I always enjoy a good one. Plus, if it’s really bad, it always helps to share. If it makes you feel better, in that many hands played, I’ve had some pretty rough shit go down. Not to mention my best friend is a pro poker player- we’ve seen some ugly beats between the two of us. The good news is, if you’re getting beats put on you, it probably means you’re playing well.

Great play calling by Cam Cameron. Ray Rice doesn’t touch the ball once. Wonder why he went 1-15 as a coach.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
how does rice not touch the ball once right there?
November 29th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Hey Fetch, it wasn’t against a guy named Maver1ck, was it? I only ask cause I was pulling some cards outta my ass tonight on FullTilt.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:43 pm

November 29th, 2009 at 11:44 pm

November 29th, 2009 at 11:46 pm

Does someone employ the SAME SCREAMING WOMAN to attend multiple televised sporting events per weekend?
/NOTHING, and I MEAN NOTHING is more fucking annoying than the screaming woman at a sporting event.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:47 pm
bummer for that dixon kid.
November 29th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
Haha nope.
Chicago: I’m in a multi-table sit and go (36 people, fortunately not for a ton of money) and I’m 5th in chips. Long story short, I have KK and am heads up with someone. Flop is 3-6-9, person dumps, I call. He had A-3. Needless to say he hit a three. Not the worst thing ever but it just made me mad cause I went from being 5th in chips to almost the short stack
November 29th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
baltimore ravens like to hit people…so does pittsburg….looks like mrs woods can get a job and a visa so she can stay here with one of these 2 teams.

Ah Fetch that does suck monster balls though. I swear to god I’ve lost more six outers than I’ve won (obv not true lol, but from a mental standpoint it sure feels like it). I guess you just gotta remember that he’s still got about a 25% chance to win the hand.
you should work on your cash game play- if you can play the micro stakes cap games (like .10/.25 and .25/.50) you can make some decent money there. Over the summer I played those games and made 18 bucks an hour (had to pay the damn bills lol), although I did run somewhat hot. If you figure those games out, there’s so many terrible players down there that you can literally expect to make 8-10 bucks an hour at the baby stakes over the long run. Poker sucks, but at the same time, it’s so awesome.
