Slate: Sports Blogs Are Taking Over the World!!!!!!! (Not Really)
Uncategorized August 24th. 2007, 10:49am
Interesting piece in Slate this week that all NFL fans – and sports fans in general – should definitely check out. In the Sports Nut column, Robert Weintraub gushes over NFL blog Pro Football Talk with fawning praise fit for ESPN – circa 1997.
Earlier this summer, we called PFT the alpha and the omega when it came to NFL news; Weintraub basically says the same in the wake of how PFT has dominated coverage of the Michael Vick catastrophe. The only thing he didn’t do was reach out to Len Pasquarelli for comment.
In addition, Weintraub touched on a larger point about the impact of blogs: “In other words, PFT and other gossipy blogs like Deadspin and the Big Lead have had the same influence on the sports world that the Drudge Report has had on politics. Michael Vick, meet Monica Lewinsky.€
Hey, we’ll take it!

Upon being reached at home for comment, Len Pasquarelli was quoted as saying, “Lets move on or move out!”

Does this mean Peter King is going to add reviews of Wonder Years in his wonderful and underrated MMQB column? He could stick it in between his weekly Brett Favre stroking and the coffee thing.

Mike Florio SWEARS that Favre is really retiring this time!
That Brunell to Atlanta rumor must have been another one of his sick jokes.

So wait, which blog broke the Vick story?

This guy had to have written this before TBL become the cornerstone of the WonderYears/Politics/OC blogosphere. You guys really have that market by the balls.

Ah, “The Maj,” a bit jealous, are we? PFT, the best football site out there, period.

I enjoy PFT, just not when they rise my hopes with false tales of a Mark Brunell trade. That’s just cruel.

“Ah, “The Maj,†a bit jealous, are we? PFT, the best football site out there, period.”
You don’t actually have to say “period” when you’re writing a sentence ya dumbass.

One thing’s for sure: PFT is definitely the best site for boring legal analysis, boring agent rumors, and whoring Sprint phones.

Ha, here they come. Well they’re definitely not the best for posting fake interviews, fake monologues, and getting 90% of their readership from Deadspin. Hey, Rex Grossmann is going deep! Bwahaha!

While, l am an interested follower of PFT, I don’t know that it has the WWL or sport franchises quaking in their boots. However, it is a fresh departure from KSK, which tends to play in mud and more nonsports topics than the other blogs.

Yeah, we’re also not a news gathering outfit.

Bwahaha, EXCLAMATION POINT!
