We Concede: Your Belichick Got Caught Cheating Post
Uncategorized September 12th. 2007, 11:22am
It pains us to have to say this … but we can’t get into the Belichick cheating/spying story. Many of you, via email or in various posts, seem to be into it, though. Why? What exactly surprises you about this? It’s not like this is the first time he’s been accused of this kind of thing. And remember, Billy Boy tried to steal a man’s wife by plying her with gifts and a beachhouse. He’s a smarmy fuck, and very easy to dislike. A brilliant football mind, most definitely. But a cocksucker nonetheless. We do wonder something – if he’s obviously such a prick, how come we cannot recall the last time one of his former players bad-mouthed him?
Here’s hoping the Chargers go into New England and spank the Patriots Sunday night … too bad there no way that’s happening.
I spy a cheater (Hashmarks)
LT: I’m not surprised (Herald)

The best part about this stroy is listening to all the bandwagon Pats fans whining about how everyone in the NFL does this…WHAT A FUCKING JOKE….to blantantly cheat and not worry about getting caught is disrepectful to the game, and hopefully Goddell views it the same way I do, if he wants to have players account for every mistake they make, you better make an example here and squash the situation…it doesn’t surprise me that this is a well known fact around the league (that the Pats do this), it is surprising it took so long to for them to get caught…and in closing FUCK THE PATS!
September 12th, 2007 at 11:29 am
If the Patriots were going to be stripped of this victory, this story would be huge. But they won’t. Loss of a 3rd round draft pick? Big deal.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:30 am
Smarmy fuck. Exactly.
Suspend Coach Asswipe for a few games. Draft picks and fines won’t mean much. Have him sit at home for a few weeks.
Honestly, I can’t get all worked up about this either.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:35 am
Would it surprise anyone if he was behind Harrison’s juicing?
September 12th, 2007 at 11:37 am
Why can’t they just give the MLBs green stickers like the QBs?
September 12th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Okay if they lose a 3rd round pick, and the Steelers lose a 3rd round pick for practicing with shoulder pads, does that seem fair? Goddell will hand down a harder penalty then that….i hope
September 12th, 2007 at 11:45 am
If he gets suspended, will the team just shuffle in another coach that can get the job done like they do with players?
Maybe Troy Brown can add another position to his resume.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:48 am
Former players bad-mouthing him would definitely include Ted Johnson http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2007/02/02/i_dont_want_anyone_to_end_up_like_me/ …
September 12th, 2007 at 11:49 am
anyone know what the deal with the green stickers on the back of qb’s helmets is?
September 12th, 2007 at 11:50 am
it makes you wonder if the reason he’s so brilliant is because he’s cheating all the time.
also, why no shot for the chargers? they went in there two years ago and pasted the pats. and with martyball out of the way this year, i think the chargers have a good shot. especially now that billy boy can’t cheat. and especially now that the pats aren’t playing the jets.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:53 am
The outrage over this seems overblown to me. They got caught stealing signs, they should be punished(draft picks). Is this really worse than all the players testing positive for roids? Where was the outrage when the whole panther d-line tested positive for steroids during their super bowl run? LT has some balls talking shit when his buddy Merriman just got busted last year.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:55 am
green stickers mean they are setup with radio signals, hence the only person on the field with one is the QB, but they should also allow the MLB to have one to stop this from occuring
September 12th, 2007 at 11:56 am
The Green stickers denotes that the helmets have a radio in them.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:58 am
They’re called signals; there’s nothing covert about them. If you really want to be 100% sure a team isn’t stealing them, tell a player through his ear hole.
This is pure gamesmanship. Why else do teams have decoy signals, which even high school teams have? Why do catchers and pitchers mix up their signs when a runner is one second? Because everyone can see! It’s a nationally televised game. It’s a wide open stadium.
September 12th, 2007 at 11:59 am
@ BottomlessChips when you have a employee videotaping the actions of the opposing coaches, it isn’t gamemanship…its cheating…look at the rule books
September 12th, 2007 at 12:01 pm
Super5 – I noticed you didnt repond to my A-Rod vs Manny retort with stats yesterday. take a gander.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
If the Belichick is such a genius, then I don’t understand why they needed a videotape. Seems like an easy way to get caught — all the NFL had to do was watch the tape. Whatever happened to a guy hidden with a pair of bonoculars? Hell, this day and age, you could probably get a satallite to do that shit for you.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
@ Super5
The NFL is the most transparent league out there. Players look over printouts that look like U2 photos in the middle of the game. A player on each side of the ball has a radio in his helmet. It was the first league to really have an instant replay system. Ron Jaworski’s ESPN show gives the public crazy angles of the game. Face it, the league is wide open.
To say that filming the other sideline is cheating and worthy of a suspension of Belichick seems like hypocrisy to me.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Also, there was audio recorded as well by using radio frequencies. Much more than gamesmanship; it’s cheating.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Danny Mac I saw them, well done, I was going to return an argument about being a complete player, but your original post stated that he was the best hitter only, not player, their stats are close, arod is ahead, and younger, and the torch has been passed…but again good job
September 12th, 2007 at 12:06 pm
@ BottomlessChips only one player on the field has a radio, the QB…the defense doesn’t have them, it was recenlty voted on and only recieved 22 outta 24 votes…and to even consider viewing in game photos as the same thing as breaking league rules is ridiculous, let’;s not forget how many times they were warned about this, and continued to do it….
September 12th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
@ Super5
Touché on the one defensive player radio rule. I thought it passed. It made sense to me.
Anyway, I just don’t get why it’s a big deal because the video recorded is of no use to them during the game, right? It’s only useful for future games, however, I bet teams change signals throughout the season.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
It makes sense to me too, it should have passed, and we wouldnt even be having this conversation
September 12th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
I agree it should have passed and I still think that’s why they went out of their way to get caught. It’s an easy solution, yet ten of the owners are still against it. I bet they’ve changed at least two minds with this, and that’s all they need.
as for Ted Johnson, he had an axe to grind because they had refused to re-sign him when he wanted to come back. Only then did he bitch about them. That’s easy to see through. Look at all the facts, please.
i do like the “smarmy fuck” line, though. cause that doesn’t mean he’s not a fucking genius. as far as it being “against the rules,” the NFL can’t allow it in the rulebook, you’d have helicopters over practice fields and cameras/microphones in locker rooms. But calling it “cheating” implies immoral, and this is nothing but gamesmanship. grow up and realize this is the NFL.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Two interesting side notes – On the defensive radio should have passed: From what John Clayton said, the Pats have been against this rule the last three to five years. Why would a defensive coach be against better communication with his players? Maybe so they could continue to steal signs- ouch. Further, everyone does know that Goodell needs to first hear the Competition Committee’s review right? And who makes up that commitee? Jeff Fischer and Conference Arch-Rival Colts Pres Bill Polian.
Its gonna be tough for the Pats, as it should. I withheld my reaction until I had a good grasp for how widespread this is. At first I got the feeling this happens all the time, but after hearing it over and over I kind of feel cheated myself. I’m a Pats fan, and just like I want to see what my best baseball players can do off juice, I want to see what this team can do- but without cheating. I just hope they wax the Chargers so it can put the ‘They win cause they cheat’ thoughts to rest.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
All you have to do is have 3 people. 1 has binoculars, 1 writes down the call, 1 writes down the result/play. Then go back and study it.
But to have someone video tape it and for them to do it repeatedly is cheating and plain stupid. Especially against Maginni who obviously knew they did this from his time with NE.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
Thomas, breakin the rules = cheatin = immoral, get off your high horse, as TO says is it looks like a rat, smells like a rat, what is it, a fucking rat…stop being a homer and realize that what they did was wrong
September 12th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
I don’t understand what happened.
Maybe if you give a one-word description of the event, and then added the word “gate” to it, I would understand.
Thank God the rest of the media did that for me.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
I’ve heard he (cameraman) was over on the Jets sideline to get audio as well. And I read a post on a different board that conjectured syncing the video, audio and photos to link formation and verbiage to hand signals, relaying that to the qb, who can audible to a different play.
Not that that would be helpful or anything.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Well said Dan-tastic,
September 12th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Oh, so it was “Belichickwasstealingsignalsgate”
September 12th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I can’t imagine Bernie Kosar has too many good things to say about Belichick.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Well, Bernie Kosar’s a fucking chatty Kathy!
September 12th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
It’s probably a stretch to say that this tarnishes the Pats legacy, but the facts are that they were warned about this before and still went out and got caught.
Give Belichick credit for being consistent. He likes cheating trashy, cheating housewives, and he likes cheating in football.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Bernie Kosar is just pissed because Vinnie Testeverde will always have better hair
September 12th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
I could be the only one that finds this interesting, but the head of the Jets video staff is the son of the Patriot’s assistant coach. He also worked for the Patriots for 4 years prior to coming over to the Jets when Mangini took over last year. I’m sure he’s still buds with the guys working for the Pats, maybe it’s a conspiracy! Or maybe I’ve been watching too many Oliver Stone movies.
September 12th, 2007 at 1:03 pm
Damnit, hit submit by accident and left an extra cheating in that last sentence. -1 for me!
I have to add that LT is being a little hypocritical about calling the Pats cheaters when the best player on their defense got busted for steroids last year.
September 12th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Think it’s a bit premature to say the Chargers have no shot on Sunday. I know I’ll be dropping 20 bones on them. LT goes for 180 total yards and 2 TDs and Merriman gets a couple sacks. Keep an eye out for the Chargers backup TE on the seam route over the middle. Adalius Thomas is great, but he can’t make up for all the Pats LBs coverage weaknesses.

September 12th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
America only cares about “Baseball” cheats.
September 12th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
Sorry, I can’t get too worked up over this. Fine the Pats, take their 2nd round pick away or have Billy Bellichick sit at home for a week. Any of those choices are okay with me.
And yes, LT is being a hypocrite by blasting the Pats when his own teammate is also a cheater. It’d be like Curt Schilling blasting Barry Bonds when he’s teammates with….
As for BB being a complete ass, it doesn’t shock me. The smartest guys in the room tend to be conceited dicks more often than not. Talent and personality are rarely united.
September 12th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
Don’t call me a homer, I don’t live in Boston and I’m not a Patriots fan, I just like to watch great football games and gamble on them. The Patriots are better than most and change their gameplans more as well–makes it more exciting and easier to gamble on. why would I cheer for one specific team, when they change all the time? I’m not retarded enough (I live in Atlanta, you expect me to cheer for the Falcons?!).
most teams have someone in the stands with a camera or binoculars. that’s the same as this. it’s not cheating, it’s always been done and it always will be done. any team that criticizes the Pats for this is just being hypocritical. there’s always been football espionage, it’s part of the game, and it gives us great stories.
September 12th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
nicely said, BFFredo.
September 12th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
So he’s a “smarmy fuck”, big deal. So he is trying to steal signals, big deal.
I am sure that baselball teams would never review game film to check for signs that may be used repetitively. That would never happen; along with steroids never being used. Nor would the league commissioner know about this stuff and let it continue. And don’t let football fool you either….they have known plenty with not so much as a peep. A four game suspension, so what. They still get a ring and a big fat check.
These subjects are getting very tired. I just want to watch some football without having the media craming these stories up our asses every night. I don’t need f’ing news stories to make my world go ’round. I just need my NFL Ticket and good games. I could possibly do without the nearly intolerrable broadcasters they put in the booths anymore. Just a good football game, that’s it.
September 12th, 2007 at 2:27 pm
Oh yeah….love the “smarmy fuck” tag….perfect fit
September 12th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Character aside, you have to give credit to Belichek for getting away with this shit for so long. He must have had that camera guy blowing someone in the league office. So the real questions to me is: what has happened? If word around the league is that the Pats have been doing this, why wait until now to do something? And why not issue some kind of warning? I guess the league office did not want to discredit THE DYNASTY! Wankers.
September 13th, 2007 at 3:40 am
Eric Mangini comes out looking the worst in this. Who is going to trust a snitch.
