Hits: Yahoo Tops ESPN
Uncategorized September 12th. 2007, 1:40pm
Yes, we are aware of this. Our ‘comScore guy’ hasn’t responded to our inquiries, which either means he’s on vacation, dead, or pehraps hanging out with Elisha Cuthbert (hello!). Roll-ups have been the thing propelling ESPN to victory in recent months … but is Rivals such a monster that ESPN will have trouble recapturing the No. 1 spot from Yahoo?
You guys know what the next logical move is, right? After all the hires have been made, and the votes tallied: Let’s acquire blogs to put us over the hump!*
comScore: Yahoo Sports Bests ESPN in Aug. for Number of Unique Users (Media Week)
*Obviously, a joke.
[Update: Someone has suggested that this woman is the real reason Rivals is so huge. We cannot confirm or deny that statement.]

Yahoo Sports, much like their email, is terrible. Give me ESPN and SI any day of the week (for “big” sites, of course).

You can acquire me TBL.* Oh and thanks for the Elisha to help me through my day.**

could be wrong buy my guess is that yahoo is the biggest fantasy football site out there, so my guess would be all of that extra traffic from people doing their drafts in August put them over the top

Stop Whoring yourself to the big guys so blatantly on your blog posts…it’s very unbecoming of you. I am sure someone will buy your blog soon. Then you can buy your house and have to mow your lawn every week. Which sucks by the way.

I agree- mowing my lawn* sucks.
*my lawn is basically 1000 sq ft of weeds… weak.

Yahoo sucks, you’re this big corporation with tons of money and you can’t afford servers that won’t crash during everyone’s live draft, leaving only the first three rounds intact?
After that debacle this year all my fantasy football will be done on ESPN.

i know this has nothing to do with anything here, but what the hell are the doctors treating that buffalo bills guy smoking? anyone else notice the huge swings in news?
first, he was paralyzed but COULD regain motion in his legs and arms in a couple months.
next, he’s fucked for life and has a good shot of dying if he’s not paralyzed forever.
now, he’s very likely to walk again.
i mean, what the hell is that? are they just fucking with the guy? “hey, you’re going to die.” then two hours later, after he’s cried with his family and figured out his will, two doctors and ashton kutcher pop in and say, “just kidding!”
i’m too lazy to post on my blog today. sorry.

Whoring is the way of the blogger. That’s why I wash myself with steel wool.
September 12th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
No whoring at all … I can guarantee you that if any of those sites were interested in bloggers, they would have already contacted them and got them writing.
And we’ve received nothing but, ‘you’re wrong’ or ‘leave x alone’ notes, so we’re not in the running.

“could be wrong buy my guess is that yahoo is the biggest fantasy football site out there, so my guess would be all of that extra traffic from people doing their drafts in August put them over the top”
Yep. Although, Yahoo has been catching them for awhile.
TBL - Just wondering… you have a way to get #s for blogs? Just wondering how some of the more popular independent blogs stack up against the corporate blogs (like deadspin, mustard, etc…). And blogs in general against ESPN/Yahoo/etc…

Definitely fantasy sports. This has almost ZERO to do with columnists. Ask 50 sports fans who writes for ESPN.com, and many could name severla writers. Ask those same fans who writes for Yahoo Sports and I doubt many could name any. Ask those same fans where they play their Fantasy Sports, most will say Yahoo.

To the commenter about the Bills paralyzed guy, all I can guess is that the doctors were getting their information from the same guy who gives information to Chris Mortensen.
But another more relevant comment: Does this mean that Yahoo! Sports is more “now” than ESPN?

While I agree that the Yahoo server crash was weak during the fantasy draft cbh49er…umm…didn’t the same debacle happen last year with ESPN fantasy? At least you get your first three rounds with Yahoo…ESPN lost the teams and then screwed up weeks 1 and 2…so No one is perfect with these things.

It’s sad that Fantasy trumps crediblity as a news source for some of you guys.
For example, ESPN turning a blind eye to the Reggie Bush scandal (a story broken by–and apparently only covered by–Yahoo Sports) is unforgivable.
But if ESPN releases the hounds on Reggie Bush, he might no longer be available for the “Sunday Conversation” or the “Budweiser Hot Seat.”

I wouldn’t give up my Rivals subscription for “nutt’in”! The love comes from people who are enthralled in their colleges (GO HOOSIERS!, shamless.. i know), and Rivals has it covered. You can see all of the recruits, interest, ect. I am sure that Fantasy Football definetly pushes Yahoo over the top, but don’t disregard the appeal of the Rivals network.
In conclusion, who really gives a shit….

Damn I didn’t know the same thing happened with ESPN, maybe I should be more forgiving…
