The Power of Sports Blogs
Uncategorized October 2nd. 2007, 1:07pm
Back in February, the Hartford Courant ran a heart-wrenching tale about the highly-recruited high school son of former Pittsburgh Steeler Greg Lloyd. Father and son were at odds – to say the least. Over the last eight months, Greg Sr. found his way to the internet and decided to leave a comment on the story over at Can’t Stop the Bleeding. Other family members followed (all the way from Iraq!). It sounds like a story Rick Reilly totally should steal and turn into a column. Why? Because it appears that maybe, just maybe, father and son might put aside their differences and hug it out. Nothing like a one-time fractured family reuniting … on a sports blog.

“Who knew UConn played football? ”
I’d say just about anyone that has even a passing interest in football.

Weird stuff. Nice to know there is the one crazy ALL CAPS family member. Does every family have one person that is intent on the ALL CAPS in every email? LOOK AT THESE PICTURES OF THE CATS! Go away, cousin.

Is this for real? I mean, any moron could log on as Greg Lloyd Sr. or Greg Lloyd Jr. Me, I’d vet the hell out of the people involved before I called that legit.

This story is as believable as the other one I read today about Bonds drinking elk semen.

I don’t know what’s worse, the ALL CAPS or the god-awful grammar and spelling. I could barely read the damn messages!

What’s not to believe? If i find an email for the CSTB guys, I’ll ask them.

Yeah, what’s not to believe? Except the fact that the whole family decided to argue through a blog. Well, you ask what’s not to believe, well, what has been shown to prove it’s not a bunch of people screwing around?

1) my apologies to all past and present UConn ‘ballers, but “who even knew UConn played football” was intended as a joke.
2) “what has been shown to prove it’s not a bunch of people screwing around?”
absolutely nothing. I’m not vouching for the identities of the commentators in question. However, I can say the person posting as Greg Jr. did so from an IP address that traces back to Storrs, CT.
