College Football Picks You Need Not Pay Attention To

Talk about a letdown. We pulled a USC last week – we didn’t show up. Just 3-for-9? It’s funny – Derek Jeter would have killed for those numbers. Notre Dame surprised the heck out of us, and so did Virginia Tech and Cincinnati. Please don’t ask about Purdue, Kentucky and Georgia. Ugh. We’re going a bit conservative this week, only because these monumental upsets cannot possibly continue. Or can they? A few ranked teams have to go on the road, although Iowa and Arkansas hardly qualify as hostile territory.
No. 18 Illinois at Iowa: Be leery, Illini fans – the bandwagon is overflowing, everyone’s geeked about winning the Big 10 … and Iowa is shit. Upset? Maybe? Illinois 37, Iowa 27.
No. 1 LSU at No. 17 Kentucky: No shame in our game – we’re rooting for Kentucky. Can you imagine the shitstorm if the Wildcats win? The Cal Bears – who don’t play defense, it should be noted – would be No. 1 and South Freakin’ Florida would be a legitimate BCS Title game contender. We’re going heart over head again, which is always a mistake: Kentucky 24, LSU 20.
No. 4 Boston College at Notre Dame: Fun, fun, fun till the Irish take your Heisman away. Sike. But we’re not thinking blowout. BC 27, ND 20.
No. 11 Missouri at No. 6 Oklahoma: Is this game really not on TV? Shame. Chase Daniel, this is your chance. Too bad it’s on the road. How much moxie does he have? Not enough. Oklahoma 44, Missouri 31.
No. 22 Auburn at Arkansas: Perhaps this is a game in which Darren McFadden will actually need meaningful second-half carries. Lots of folks think he’s your Heisman leader, but a home loss here puts the Razorbacks at 3-3, and there are three more ranked teams on the schedule. With six losses, there’s no way McFadden wins the Heisman. Which is why: Arkansas 31, Auburn 27.

Iowa does suck but I saw a stat on NFL Network last night that said they are 28-5 in their last 33 home games, I could see an upset in that game

Oklahoma/Missour is on FSN in Virginia

Central Florida is more likely to beat South Florida than Kentucky is to beat LSU.

My Hawks would have to actually get a first down to win the game. The Hawks are finished and are in the middle of a potential 7 game losing streak. Load up on the Fighting Zooks.

LSU stomps Kentucky

In the Big Ten, home field advantage gives you an automatic 7pt lead. Didn’t Illinois win their significant games at home? I don’t think Iowa winning at home would be much of an upset, especially since the Big Ten is awful this year.

Yep, OU/MU is on FSN. Should be a fun game to watch.

Yeah I think Kentucky is going to get brought back to earth against LSU. I don’t know if they can overcome the huge talent disparity. We’ll see though. The Wildcat home field will be geeked.

it would not shock me to see notre dame beat boston college and central florida to beat south florida.
remember a couple of years ago when donut weis got the irish so pumped up at home they damned near beat usc and ruined their season?
i can see the same thing saturday with boston college. “when you guys were still shitting in diapers, boston college ruined our perfect season and knocked us out of the national title. we can do the same to these pricks today… “

I had the misfortune of attending PSU v. Iowa last week and I can verify that Iowa does indeed suck.
Illini relatively easy.

The LSU game should be closer than many think but I would be shocked to see them win this game. Also, if Illinois scores 37 on Iowa I might literally shit my pants. Iowa is not a great team but thier D is pretty nasty and Juice has a penchant for turning the ball over. I think you guys are spot on with the Missouri-OU game though. The Sooners are going to pound the rock all day long and kill Mizzou with some play action.

Last year LSU beat Kentucky 49-0 in Tiger Stadium, and it wasn’t even that close. And both teams have equally improved from last season. Maybe Kentucky has improved a little more, but LSU isn’t bad either.

Two Chase Daniel pics in less than a week. I hope OU will help you get over your new crush this weekend.

I think Kentucky will be winning late in the game and then will douse their coach with Gatorade, Kentucky fans will storm the field and then LSU will throw a miracle pass to win the game

Illinois v Iowa – Illinois. Iowa is indeed shit.
LSU v Kentucky – LSU. Only way Kentucky upsets is if it’s a shootout.
BC v Notre Dame – BC. They won’t disregard the Domers like UCLA did.
Missouri v Oklahoma – Mizzou. Upset special!
Auburn v Arkansas – Auburn. Little Rockians bring the torches out and go Nutt-hunting.

does that mean McFadden could win it with only 5 losses TBL? I like the rest of the picks though, I don’t have the Wildcats winning but I’m definitely hoping they do.

Just for fun I am doing an Iowa/Lousiville/Wisconsin parlay using the money line for all 3.

Don’t be too quick on Auburn over Arkansas. Houston Nutt has more lives than Wayne Fontes and this is EXACTLY the kind of game he finds a way to pull out to lower the temperature on his job. Plus, I’m just not totally sold on Auburn — is it the team that beat Florida and followed it up by drubbing Vanderbilt? Or are the Tigers the team that struggled to beat K-State, lost to South Florida (in Auburn) and crapped the bed against Mississippi State?
BTW, don’t be surprised if the aforementioned Bulldogs of MSU upset Tennessee this weekend. I think the Vols of last weekend were a mirage. They’re actually closer to being the team that got crushed at Florida.

Driving the 7 hours to OU. If Mizzou’s D holds em under 30, no way they lose. And the player that makes that team go is Jeremy Maclin. Deep threat, amazing kick returner, and he’ll get at least 2 chances on reverses. This is a special team this year. Gotta have this one.
