Skins WR Brandon Lloyd Causes a Washington Post Brouhaha
Media Gossip/Musings, NFL October 12th. 2007, 11:40am
What has the Washington Post wrought? It has, without question, the best newspaper blog in the business. But is it so good that its own newspaper writers are bashing said blog?
The Bog admitted to rooting for the now-benched Redskins WR Brandon Lloyd, a hip guy with quick wit and decent rap skills. We tend to agree - sports are just entertainment, and that’s why we enjoy Reggie Bush somersaulting into the end zone, Joe Horn getting on his cell phone after a score, and anyone who takes a slow trot to first base after bashing a tape-measure home run. (Still, we’re puzzled. WTF is this ‘I can’t feel my face‘ business?)
A Redskins beat writer didn’t feel the same way.
I love Steinberg - okay, that’s a lie; I generally like Steinberg - but he’s pathetically off base on this one. The wide receiver is not just some poor nice dude who is getting dumped on by the coaches. That’s happened around here before, but not in this case. Brandon is also not some demon. He is an incredibly charming, bright, funny individual with diverse interests who comes from an pretty amazing family. Unfortunately, that side of him is often clouded by the immature things he sometimes does and says, and, Steinberg, it’s not about Old Media vs. New Media on how Lloyd is viewed, it’s about Media Who Report And Are Informed vs., well, draw your own conclusions.
Jason La Canfora (who previously killed the Freddy Adu beat) goes on in detail about all the boneheaded things Lloyd has done, from alienating coaches to not hustling. We’re not up-to-speed on the daily happenings of B Lloyd, so far be it from us to get in on this little inter-paper brouhaha. But we definitely will enjoy it. Just don’t get in an actual fight guys, like Les Carpenter and Dan Hellie.

I Can’t Feel My Face is a Juelz Santana/Lil’ Weezy album that’s been in the work for about a year. DeShawn’s a friend.

Nu skool feel his face, i guess. I go old skool to “Blow”, when Bobcat is cooking the blow up for Johnny and Pee Wee in the movie, snorts a line, and says “I can’t feel my face”

And to think, I actually thought I would get a shout on this.
Like Cobra Commander, I will now retreat; but not before this parting shot:

‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ is a quasi-infamous reference to cocaine use. Cause if you snort quality-blow you can go temporarily numb in some areas.

I thought Wayne and Santana already released “I Can’t Feel My Face” as a mixtape and are working on making it an official release, but I might be wrong.

In today’s Washington Post print edition (see dictionary.com if you don’t know what that means) Steinberg’s latest post about Gil Arenas cheating at Halo 3 is printed on page 2 of Sports. Kind of a silly topic and Steinberg takes a shot at himself for it, referencing the La Canfora article. But the interesting thing is that the little italicized intro to Dan’s post, probably penned by a print writer, also belittles the subject matter of the post and is completely condescending. The intro reads:
“There are those that mock Dan as a sellout, a onetime ink-stained wretch who has moved over to the Web and abandoned all his old-school newspaper principles. We’re here to tell you that is not the case. Hard-hitting investigative journalism? Look no further.”

Don’t you mean intra-paper?
Inter-paper would mean the Washing Post was taking on the paper from the other side of the lake in some color war style journalistic battle.

Clearly, I’ve never done cocaine.
