Anybody Know if Rick Reilly Was in Baton Rouge Saturday?
Uncategorized October 12th. 2007, 12:25pm
Everyday Should be Saturday (friend of Verne Lundquist) scored a tremendous nugget about Sports Illustrated’s Rick Reilly, purportedly from Saturday’s Florida/LSU game, that is hilarious - if true:
“The pressbox gets a call from press will call saying that somebody claiming to be Rick Reilly is here wanting up to the press box. One of the SID’s goes downstairs to check (Reilly had not requested any credentials before hand) and in fact it was Rick Reilly. He appeared to be drunk/stoned and was accompanied by a blonde that my friend’s wife described as “looking like a stripper.€ Given that it was Rick Reilly, he was allowed up to the press box. Where he proceeded to spend the whole game making out with his friend. One of the other SIDs was quoted saying “those two need a room bad.€
Florida/LSU probably had as many media members as Game One of the NLCS, so somebody out there has to be able to verify this. We haven’t seen the recent issue of SI … did Reilly write about anything from the game?

When Rick Reilly is your “Big Name,” is it any wonder how far SI has slid?

Zigi Wylf owns an NFL franchise, does that mean he’s not a douchebag. no, he still wants public money for his precious stadium despite the fact a bridge fell down and the public funds could be better served there, so he throws a little hissy fit. successful? yes. douchebag? even bigger yes.
reilly loves how his words look in print. I can’t tell you the last time I read anything of his because it’s so god-damn facetious. i get the same feeling from listening to joe buck.

my main problem with rick reilly — who is a helluva writer — is that he has gone to the dan lebaretard/dan patrick school of hero worship. reilly absolutely services (or pleasures himself to) tiger woods as well as just about any nba clown that walks his way.
given the fact that i absolutely loathe both golf and the nba, i rarely read reilly as a result.
he’s a gifted writer. i just don’t like his subject matter.
(btw, did anyone think it was creepy the way reilly bragged how he took his 12-year old son to a si swimsuit photo shoot?)

No. He did not. He wrote something about Green Bay Packers season tickets.

1. It was Ravishing Rick Rude posing as Rick Reilly.
2. Count on the smut industry to bounce back from Hurricane Katrina quicker than any other.

It couldn’t have been Reilly.
It’s not something that Dan Jenkins did first and/or better.

Jimmy, i’ve got a different take and see Le Batard and Patrick as far superior journalists than Reilly, but yes, Reilly can write. I almost have the opposite take as I think that he often goes after easy targets includung NBA players.
But here is some elaboration on: “Rick Reilly is a Dork and Why it Matters”: http://www.cosellout.com/?p=66
