Ballin’: Sonics Remain Winless
Uncategorized November 2nd. 2007, 10:26am
Phoenix 106, Seattle 99: Wasn’t easy. Furious fourth-quarter rally and 23 from Amare propelled the Suns to the nice road win. Durant looked better than he did opening night – a more fluid 27 points (on 23 shots) in 39 minutes.
Detroit 91, Miami 80: With Rip Hamilton out of the lineup, Tayshaun Prince dropped 34 points to lead the Pistons over the D Wade-less Heat. Detroit won despite shooting worse from the field and from three than Miami. Shaq (9-7) looked old and slow, Dorrell Wright displayed flashes of potential, and Ricky Davis led Miami with 23.
Houston 106, Utah 95: Carlos Boozer was unstoppable for the Jazz – 30 and 16 – but not nearly as impressive as our main man T-Mac. McGrady went for 47 points (17-for-27 – take that, Kobe) as the Rockets won on the road. Just keep monitoring the improvement of rookie Luis Scola (28 minutes, 7 points, 9 rebounds). Also, Mike James had more points and assists and fewer turnovers than Rafer Alston. It’s only a matter of time.

Being in the West sucks. The Warriors are going to need just as much luck as last year, if not more. Even though his contract is huge, I wish Richardson was still on the team.

where is the COLTS vs PATS hype
cmon now TBL
the NBA is what in its third game
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:35 am
Shaq probably looked old and slow because he IS old and slow. You’re going to regret picking Miami to win anything this year, TBL.

I cannot f*cking wait for the Celtics tonight… its the weirdest feeling ever. Like first rim job wierd.

Pats vs. Colts?
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:43 am
I am with Danny Mac on this one. Being a Tinawolves fan since they consisted of Pooh Richardson and Christina Laettner, it will be bittersweet to watch “The Kid” in a different uniform. I am going to root for the Celtics this year based on Garnett and what he deserves. An NBA Championship.

Let’s go Wizards

“It’s only a matter of time.”
Before T-Mac gets past the first round?
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:45 am
Why does Garnett DESERVE a championship? Because every team he has been on consistently has underacheived and not won?
Gilbert Arenas deserves a championship then, Charles Barkley deserved a championship, nobody deserves anything, they need to go out and win it

Irish mafia,
If you want Pats-Colts hype, please type in this address in your URL:

I have found that this is a great site for all things Colt-Pats, Yankees, Red Sox, and A-Rod.

More assists and less turnovers than Skip-To-My-Lou? Whaaaa?
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:53 am
I hate Damien Wilkins.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:54 am
Every Team? He has played on 1 team. The team that has consistently drafted horribly. Let some great talent walk away, and been involved in a few scandals which prevented them from getting a 1st rounder for a couple seasons. What has he done? Just posted HOF numbers and for the most part kept his mouth shut about his GM and Front Office. He never gets into trouble or let’s his ego get in the way of his team. He is a true professional and what every young player should strive to be.
That is why IMO he deserves an NBA Champ.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 am
By every team, i meant the different teams the Timberwolves had, obviously I know he has only been on one team prior to the Celtics
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:59 am
I liked when he unselfishly turned down a 100 million dollar contract offer from the T’Wolves for the good of the team, he needed that 26 million more. No, I am not saying it is wrong he got his, but let’s not act like he is high and mighty.

Wiz/Celts is giving me an all day erection
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:05 am

Please.

@The Maj – You know you’re supposed to contact your doctor if that happens.

I will be the first to admit it that I am definitely biased towards KG, and so I don’t blame him at all for leaving. Mchale is the worst GM in basketball and never would have put a cast of players around KG to win him a Championship.
Maybe in hindsight, him leaving will better the team because they will be able to rebuild around some younger talent. Although, as long as Mchale is around I doubt it.

Why does Garnett DESERVE a championship? Because every team he has been on consistently has underacheived and not won?
troy hudson, mark blount, mark madsen, ricky davis, marko jaric, rashad mccants, joe smith, christian laettner…
Yeah, I can definitely see who the source of the underachieving was. KG is such a choker!
And before you come back with “but he had cassell and spre!!” yes, and when he had those guys, he took them to the WCF. not bad. it generally takes a few years of “getting really close” before you get over the hump. even tim duncan has lost in the WCF before. they surrounded him with talent ONCE his 12 (!!!) year career.

The Blazers could have had Roy, Aldridge, and Durant. That’s a possible playoff team for years to come.
Who was guarding (or trying to) McGrady?
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:53 am
Ummm, who are the Celts going to play when KG, Pierce or Allen are in foul trouble, or worse yet, hurt? I thought you had to have five on the court at once. I must have missed the NBA transition to a three-on-three league.
All you Celts marks need to enjoy the season as much as possible, and then make your vacation plans for May, because the Celts won’t be playin’.

“Who was guarding (or trying to) McGrady?”
Half the Utah players on the floor! McGrady was double-teamed most of the fourth quarter.

Great article on Gilbert, he’s the man
So KG deserves a championship because his front office was inept, I guess Joe Johnson of the Hawks also deserves a championship. He plays hard, keeps his mouth shut and his front office sucks.
And he did have Spree and Cassell, funny how you forgot to mention in their second year together they didn’t make the playoffs, but I guess that was the front office’s fault or Sprewell’s fault because he was worried his kids weren’t eating.
KG is a superstar, with that comes superstar expectations, not sympathy that he has been a loser his whole career.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:41 pm
KG is one of the Top 25 players of all time. You can not use the “but he didn’t advance in the playoffs or win a championship” argument to bring him down. Look at the talent around him. And NO, sorry Skip Clueless, Tim Duncan would not have a won a championship if he was in MN instead of KG. That’s a ridiculous statement.
KG is a class act. So he signed a 100 mill contract. That doesn’t make him greedy. He deserved that contract because of his ability and his game. Who in their right mind would say, “no thanks, I’ll take 50 mill so you can get more free agents.” No one in their right mind would do that. Especially in his shoes. The NBA is a business, you need to take the money when you can. Say KG said “no, give me 60 mill and spend the rest on others” and then went out and got a career ending injury, everyone would be calling him an idiot for not getting the max contract.
KG, in my opinion, is the best OVERALL player in the leauge. Better overall than Kobe, Lebron, Wade (go ahead and blast me with all the stats, rings, etc.). You can’t say he isn’t clutch, you can’t say he isn’t a proven winner.
Does he deserve to win a ring? No. But it’d sure be nice.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Didn’t Tim Duncan just turn down 11 million so the Spurs can afford more players? How many rings does he have? 4
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:05 pm
cbh49er -
Yeah, you’re right. That next year they didn’t make the playoffs. KG’s line: 22/13/6 & 50% / 81%.
He’s such a choking asshole for not getting Spre (13 ppg on 41% shooting) to play better or keep Cassell from missing 23 games with injury. What a selfish prick asshole bastard.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:15 pm
Turning down money when you’re on the Spurs is a bit different than turning down $$ when you’re on the Wolves.
I didn’t see Joe Johnson turning cash down, didn’t see Rashard Lewis turning down $$$, They both must be greedy too.
But the fact that KG is willing to/ was willing to restructure his extension shows that he’s a team player.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:18 pm
I never said he was greedy, never said he was a prick, selfish asshole, are you guys KG’s friends or something? You are getting awfully defensive.
I simply stated that before someone gives me this KG is holier than thou garbage to listen to the facts. I would have taken the $126 million as well, but you play in Minnesota, you think they are going to have any money left over to get good talent when they are paying you all of it?
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:19 pm
Didn’t hear anything about him attempting to restructure his contract but I’ll take your word for it Mozatta.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:39 pm
CBH49,
I honestly don’t think it was always about that money. I think that he got tired of waiting around for draft picks and other players to be brought in to help him out and it just never happened. After the Joe Smith fiasco, MN never got a good 1st rounder of their own for 5 years? Anyways, he wanted to win and he wasn’t going to do that in MN. I just personally feel like he got the shaft way too many times in MN and so I hope for him, that he wins one in Boston. One ironic thing about this is that he could have been playing with Ray Allen all along because MN traded away Allen for Starbury.
I love your link to a story about “agent zero”. Like Garnett, he plays for a team that doesn’t seem to bring in the right cast to support him. I think he is a little arrogant, but when you are constantly getting slurped by Wilbon in the post every day, it probably doesn’t help.
November 2nd, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Yeah he did come off arrogant but all of his points were true and it is funny to hear about how miserable Hughes is in Cleveland
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:48 pm
Being from MN, I hold Kevin close to my heart. I still remember my first encounter with him. I was 18, sitting with a group of friends at De Ja Vu, a local strip club, tossing singles on the stage when in walks a posse of 5 or 6 tall African American men. Naturally, I look to see if any of them are professional athletes. Sure enough, Mr. Garnett and his ensemble grab a seat at the table next to me. I turn, say hello, mention that he had a nice game tonight. He smile, shook my hand and said thank you. A few minutes later a number of female workers approached the table, Mr. Garnett looked at us, smiled and said “time to take care of business guys. enjoy your night.”
So that is why I am defensive of the man. During this experience as well as the numerous times I interviewed him while I was working as a beat writer for my local paper, he has always been polite and a class act. Plus the guy has game. Greatest all-around player in the league in my opinion.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:05 pm
What the hell was KG doing at the Vu? That place BLOWS.
