Yup, she’s back, and looking as good as ever … a reader’s advice: the new Jay-Z album is the hot fire … here’s the Sharapova photo that is being discussed in the lawsuit against the perverted ad exec … look! Somebody finally took a shot at Joe Torre! … maybe OSU hoops isn’t in the sleeper category, just ASLEEP … suspended from middle school for HUGGING FRIENDS!! … yes, Peter King is flip-flopper on Reggie Bush …
Mildly comical: ESPN’s Matthew Berry was “worried about” Adrian Peterson going into the Chargers game. You know, the one in which he rushed for an NFL record 296 yards. (ESPN)

Great interview with ESPN’s Bruce Feldman about college football, specifically a year with Ole Miss. (Gelf Magazine)
We can’t get into this Don Shula crap, so we’re sticking it here. (NY Daily News)
Not only are Jaguars getting arrested, but suspended, too. (Times-Union)
Guy talks trash to Giants TE Jeremy Shockey in a restaurant, gets his ass kicked by Shockey’s friends. (Page Six)
Two readers were irate with this self-centered Scoop Jackson column. (Page 2)

I’m so sick of hearing about the flippin 1972 Dolphins and what a great team they were and blah, blah, blah. Don Shula is a bitter old man that needs to stay on nurtisystem and keep his mouth shut! These guys are so bent on living in the past, here’s hoping that if the Pats do lose this season their cork on that cheap liqour they drink every year when the last unbeaten team loses gives one of them a black eye! Shut up Shula, run your stupid overpriced steak houses and stay on the golf course!

Where’s the new layout?!

So Norman Chad pisses and moans because MMA is a little violent for his taste, yet a man gets killed during a poker game. Again, Chad is a douchebag.

Who took away online poker?

The best part about that Scoop article is the comments section.

I was one of the readers who sent in the Scoop link. Remember when blogs first started and they were just the ramblings of people talking about their day? They were all about standing in line waiting for coffee, how the carpool lane doesn’t go fast enough and how annoying it is when you have to go to the dentist?
Well, that’s what Scoop’s column is. Just a self-indulgent, you-should-care-about-my-life, I’m important missive that neither educated or entertained readers.

Um… in regards to the Dolphins + Rams article, I am pretty sure Miami would still be screwed. I think that even if you took the AFC East All-Stars (w/o NE), they still would be -9 to the Pats on any given feild.

After Whitlock completely owned Scoop I never even read his garbage anymore.

Maj, where are you playing hold em for money online? I used to be a pokerstars guy, now on Apple and can’t find a good one.

One more thing about the Scoop story that brought up a trend I have been noticing as of late.
When did it become PC to use “urban” instead of black? What does it mean? Isn’t that kind of racist and stereotypical? What about the black people that live in the country or the suburbs?

Why is Torre considered such a great manager again? Because he was able to guide the largest payroll in baseball to a world series back in the 20th century? (2 of which were against the Buffalo Bills of Baseball or as Atlanta fans call them “the Braves”)
The only thing going for Torre is that the NL West is easier than Britney on ruffies. Go Padres.

Layout is taking longer than anticipated. Sorry, man. We’re hoping by Monday … and we’re hoping to have a banner (a real one), instead of just that white box up there.

I play on Fulltilt

Full Tilt. used to play some on Bugsy’s Club.

mike hart needs to shut up.

(1) I also play on Full Tilt, mostly small shit, but it’s easy pickings at the low levels.
(2) Platts, I’m not sure how Chad is a douchebag because somebody got shot at a poker game. There is no connection between MMA and a guy getting shot during a robbery.
(3) That Scoop article is one of the worst things I’ve ever read. I read his shit now just to mock it and I am in the comments section on that article (the post that has…ever think, ever think, ever think there might be a better way to write this?).
(4) To state the obvious, Kournikova is highly bangable.

Ain’t a damn thing wrong with that white box, TBL.
Don’t get all Scoop Jackson on us and try to come up like ya’ll are brand new.
November 7th, 2007 at 10:48 am
That Scoop Jackson article was more self-indulgent than anything Bill Simmons has ever wrote and that’s saying a lot.

Re: Shockey
I am pretty sure the Post is implying Shockey went to the bathroom to let his friends kick ass but that makes no sense, if you wanted your friends to kick the guys ass just leave the restaurant, why come back to the table if you knew this would be happening?
I will say I can’t remember the last time I was with a group of guys and starting a fight was seen as a good option, but I actually have a reason not to want to get arrested. i.e. a family and job, I guess part of being in a posse is knowing you need to get arrested.

Wow. That was some kind of awful from Scoop. I don’t read his stuff anymore, either. But how in the world can you turn a day with MJ into that? Sheesh. Page 2 really is a wasteland, isn’t it? I’d like to think all these Interwebs has something to do with that.
I would also like to add that the White Box at the top of the masthead isn’t all bad. I love Deadspin, but their re-design has done two things: 1) Made it harder to tell when something new, and good is up and 2) make my eyes go cross-eyed trying to figure out what’s an ad and what’s “art”. Maybe they’re getting deep on me. But I think it’s just stimulation overboard on a lil’ old blog. Simple is fine, especially when the content is interesting.
November 7th, 2007 at 11:59 am
Next thing you know, Scoop will be writing a book about being a pro caddy, or telling us about getting taken up for a ride in a Fighter Jet.
November 7th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
I’m actually hoping that it did go down the way the Post was attempting to portray the Shockey incident. If it did, it’s a beautiful set up.

New Jay-Z is decent but not great, definitely better than his last album.
The new Radiohead is where it’s at.

Clinton Portis vs. Philly, or Willie Parker vs. Cleveland?
Pittsburgh D vs. Cleveland, Indy D vs. San Diego, or Giants D vs. Dallas

That one article on UM-MSU war of words does not even come close to the back-and-forth that has happened here since Saturday. Actually, since the day the new MSU coach was hired (his name is irrelivent as is the program). He put up a clock that ticked down to gametime of the Michigan game when he was hired. He put huge emphasis on this game, they had a 10 point lead with 7 minutes to play and lost. He talked about Michigan way more than UM did about him or MSU. Then he is pissed that UM takes a few shots after the game. What a dick. Hart was merely putting MSU’s words back in their face.

Willie Parker at home against Cleveland, def
November 7th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
I have been riding Willie for weeks, but Clinton has outscored him by 18 so far this year, Willie nearly cost me on Monday, he only got two points.
I should take Matthew Berry’s job, I am 9-0 in a 12 team league.
