Steve Young Has Had Enough of Emmitt Smith
Uncategorized November 14th. 2007, 11:21amWe’re not sure what Emmitt Smith was talking about, but this happened late Monday night, on the West Coast, so maybe fatigue set in. “… Probably one of the weakest conferences in the whole NFC.” Then, with 55 seconds left in the video, Steve Young appears frustrated to be dealing with the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and Mr. Sportscenter Poetry Jam. “Do I need to make that long-winded comment again?”
They need to get Sean Salisbury on set to bitch-slap somebody. You know he’d do it.
PS – We kind of like how ESPN is just putting all video on the web. Can somebody in Bristol upload that Sportscenter clip when Van Pelt mentioned us? We’d be eternally grateful.

Poetry boy and Sir Dance a-lot need to go. SS was just pushing Young to the point that he was practically just running the show. God I feel sorry for Young.

I’m pretty sure “Yes, make a long-winded comment!” is now ESPN’s mission statement.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:42 am
Or perhaps it was just the embarrassing illiteracy of one Emmitt Smith.

you feel sorry for them
man feel sorry for the fans that have to watch
what has happened to good TV personalities
Chris Berman is the only one i think is decent

chris berman makes emmitt smith look like stu scott.

Emmitt just needs more “consississtency”
Stu, he must have something on one of the higher ups at ESPN, my God he is awful at everything.
Wonder what SY did to piss off the brass that he got paired with these two idiots.

Spencer, you just blew my mind with words. And I am shocked that Young would get frustrated with Stuart Scott and Emmitt Smith; they seem so intelliget and fun!

The ESPN MNF non-booth traveling team needs to die and Young needs to go back to Countdown ASAP. On MNF, it needs to be just Jaws and Tirico. On Countdown, it needs to be Young, Jackson, Mortensen, Jaws, and possibly Hoge. Jaws may not be able to do it if he is traveling with the MNF group, though Emmitt seems to be able to be an ass on consecutive days in different locations. The Countdown guys can do without a referee as long as the people that are on there know what the hell they’re doing.

WOW. I will take Jaworski and Golic any day of the week. And now that i know that that one guy who replaced Greeny has a law degree, i will also slurp him. My only grief is that John Clayton must go. Please, you look like a halloween costume, or Mister Hand, get the fuck off my TV before the SS shanks you.

Do you mean Erik Kuselias? He totally rocks. I hated when they moved him from Sports Bash to Nascar.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Kuselias is a shill. But I like him more than Greeny. Wish he was a full time replacement for Greenberg who has aditted he never even played sports as a kid. Fucking dork.

Man, Emmitt is absolutely BRUTAL to listen to. I mean really. How did he get this job? I have seen speeches in middle school go better than his work.
As for young, he is easily one of ESPN’s best on air personalities. I have no idea what they are doing pairing him with these two retards.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Dornoch…isn’t Emmitt Smith yet another example of the already proven point that playing sports doesn’t automatically make you a better, or even more qualified, sports broadcaster?
November 14th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
This is what happens when Disney takes over. Emmitt and Lazy-Eye are practically caricatures.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
I was listening and laughed out loud at Emmitt. He hesitated after “in the….”. You know he wanted to say NFL, but probably couldn’t remember the letters. Anyone remember just how many concussions he had?
Steve Young was already pissed after the pathetic performance by the 9′ers, Emmitt was just the icing on the cake.

Never hear much about Keyshawn here but I think he is doing a pretty solid job and he says things actually add to the conversation. The parcells vs. keyshawn thing they do before the game i s a good piece.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
love the lazy eye comment about stu scott
November 14th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
Why is everyone overlooking the fact that, from a technical sense, Emmitt is actually, you know … correct.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:41 pm
I don’t understand a word that comes out of Emmitt Smith’s mouth. Sometimes when I watch him I want to go Pulp Culture on his ass and scream: “English motherfucker! Do you speak it?” But aren’t we trying a little to hard to knock him sometimes? Steve Young is clearly frustrated with Stuart Scott in this clip and not Smith, who is actually agreeing with Young’s point about Seattle. A while back we knocked Smith for speaking over the National Anthem when everyone on the set did because ESPN’s producers poorly timed the segment with the stadium’s schedule, which they had. Anyway, point is, Smith is unbearable, but lets not make up reasons to knock him, he does enough on his own.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
Steve Young had several more concussions during his career than Emmitt Smith. And he doesnt sound like a blithering idiot.
Ya think Emmittt still believes he’s on a voting off type of show ? let’s put up a fake poll and vote him off, then email it to him. maybe he wont show up for work next week.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:53 pm
Yeah I agree Keyshawn does a good job. Anyone who is charismatic and is a straight shooter is going to be a good addition on those shows. I.e. Sir charles.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
I can’t believe I am saying this, but Emmit is better a better dancer than he is at talking football.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Young is saying “first Irvin, now Emmitt…aren’t there any smart Cowboys?”
seriously, put him in the booth instead of Kornheiser, he was awesome
November 14th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
The G Man -
Emmitt said that the NFC West is one of the weakest conferences in the NFC. The NFC West is a division within the National Football Conference. There are two conferences within the NFL.
Emmitt would be correct if he said that the NFC West is one of the weakest divisions in football. He’d even be correct in assuming that the NFC is weaker than the NFC. But the NFC West is not a conference and that’s what Emmitt said it was.
November 14th, 2007 at 8:05 pm
Emmitt Smith seems totally confused, and doesn’t follow the conversations well. It’s like Smith has trouble speaking, always stumbling over words, then he thinks about trying to speak correctly and talks about something unrelated.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Kind of like how a retarded person interacts with normal people.
November 15th, 2007 at 12:53 am
“NFC West is the weakest confernece in the whole NFC”
Emmitt, how do you not know the difference in a conference and a division in the VERY SPORT you allegedly cover?
Idiot…SS, Disney, ABC, Van Pelt…someone PLEASE step in a shut this guy out like ole’ Theismann
