Yes, Jay Mohr, It Was ‘Too Soon’
Uncategorized November 27th. 2007, 11:35am
Yes, we enjoy his stand-up, and yes, we think he’s been decent in a few movies and TV shows, and yes, we think his Fox Sports column is Scoop-ish in nature. But why would Jay Mohr go here? No idea. “On Jim Rome’s show today, Jay Mohr was guest hosting. When the news hit the wire, Mohr announced that Kennedy died, quoted Kennedy’s career W/L record, and then said he died of mediocrity.” The tipster who first told us about this said Mohr added, ‘too soon?’ Douche.

He “went there” because when was the last time that anyone on earth besides dip-shit Rome gave a frog’s fat ass about Jay Mohr? 1997?

And yet, if he were a smarmy Deadspin commenter, he would have been given an obnoxious “+1″.

died of mediocrity
That’s the same cause of death the coroner put in his report when he examined Mohr’s career.

Bah. Too hypocritical to be funny coming from this dude. He tries too hard. Just poor taste.

You want to see a trainwreck? Try watching the NASCAR (yes, some of us follow it) awards banquet. It should be coming up very soon, I think. For the last few years, Mohr has been the host/MC of the thing and he’s absolutely dreadful.

Awww…beat me to that one!
Mohr is actually a sub-mediocre “comic” (he is to stand-up what “Arliss” is to the sitcom) who, I’m imagining, must have compromising photos of someone at FOX. The guy doesn’t bring any funny to the table, so I suppose he’s now going for “edgy”. Dick.

Mohr’s singing absolutely rocked in Do-over Christmas. On all month on ABC Family!

no, they’d probably be banned.

Jay Mohr has tried many different venues….stand up, movies, tv show, nfl pre game…..he has failed in most of these. He is in a space of his own on Rome’s show, however. You know how some people are just made for certain things? That is Mohr guest hosting Rome’s show.
I think if he had his own radio show it would suck…..but somehow when he does these three little hours every 3 months or so, it is priceless. I listened to it yesterday on the ol’ ipod while jogging and it was laugh out loud funny.
As for the Kennedy thing, yes it was tastless. That is what comedy is. Do you know of many good comics who aren’t cracking on someone or saying something that normal people can’t say? Chill people. And listen to him next time he is on The Jungle.

Usually that type of douche baggery is reserved for Roger Lodge.

Oh yeah, Nikki Cox is hot. It’s too bad she’s not on Las Vegas anymore. Some of those outfits she wore…Wow! …oh, wait, this is a Jay Mohr post. Damn.

I guess Jay Mohr can be all sorts of moron…be terribly unfunny…and still go home to the ultra hot Nikki Cox. Not a bad life to lead…
November 27th, 2007 at 12:22 pm
You’re being far too kind. The man’s career peaked playing douchebag (quite the stretch) agent Bob Sugar in “Jerry Maguire” and that credit is getting real old.
November 27th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Usually that sort of douche baggery is left for Roger Lodge to recycle.

Mohr’s irrelevance is surpassed only by the fact that he somehow managed to hook up with Nikki Cox. Maybe he has compromising photos of her and is blackmailing her or something…

All I know is that Jay Mohr, as sub for Rome–is as funny as ive heard on radio since Kiley & Booms…all you haters just must not be listening..or have had your sense of humor surgically removed!

For my money, it gets no funnier than reading the comment threads below Jay Mohr’s articles over on FOXSports.com. Here are some personal favorites:
“Nice work Jay. (cue fade into oblivion)”
“When you do a piece on tiny diks and shallow minds, make sure you include yourself.”
“Who are you going after next week the kids in the Special Olympics?”
“Dear Jay,
Thanks for ruining my movie career in 1997.
Jennifer Aniston”

HDTV is not a friend to Nikki Cox.

Nikki Cox had Bobcat Goldthwaite inside of her. No thanks.

i guess i’m one of the few who like mohr. i thought he did a great job on the old fox sports network’s nfl pre-pregame show (10 a.m. eastern).
and i think mohr blows rome out of the water when he hosts his show (which i rarely listen to any longer).
November 27th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
@The412- are you talking about the real Bobcat or the muppet dog he played on Unhappily Ever After..?
November 27th, 2007 at 4:21 pm
What? No Sean Taylor jokes?
November 28th, 2007 at 2:55 am
Any tasteless joke that ends with “too soon?” ceases to be funny (if it ever was funny in the first place.)If you’re gonna go with the classless/tasteless joke route, do it like a man, get it over with, and make no apologies. Comedians do that all the time, and I’ve heard much worse than what Mohr said, although not on a national radio show.
